Kenneth Walter McCarty
Kenneth Walter McCarty, 82, of East Palestine, passed away at 10:17 AM on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Vibra Hospital.
He was born on March 3, 1938, son of the late Walter and Edna (Poole) McCarty. Walter honorably served in the U.S. Army for a number of years. After his service, he lived in South East Los Angeles, California, where he worked for 40 years through his own business in which he would repair and work on motorcycles. This was not only a job, but a passion in which he found much joy. In addition to his expertise on motorcycles, Walter worked on and built computers. When he was not working, he also had a love for playing his steel guitar, none other than a Gibson, where he also played in many bands. Walter was described as a faithful man, who served as a strong Christian throughout his life. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith (Taggart) McCarty, who passed away in June 2015, siblings; Jack McCarty, Susan Nelson, and Ruth Shenton. All arrangements and services are pending at this time.

Mary R. Brinker
Orlando, Florida - Mary R. Brinker, 85, originally of East Palestine, Ohio, died on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Orlando, Florida after a long illness. Mary was born in East Palestine to Robert C. and Mary McCommon Wolz on June 30, 1935. She graduated from East Palestine High School.
She married Arch L. Brinker on October 24, 1953. Mary was an attentive mother to three daughters, devoted wife, doting grandmother, and a dedicated member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where she served as a volunteer, was a member of many committees, and was a Sunday school teacher.
She was also an accomplished seamstress, a Campfire Girls leader, an active member of the EPHS parent Athletic Booster Club, and she enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband Arch. She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Debra Brinker of Dublin, Kathy Kesling (Jeff Kesling) of LaPorte, IN and Marci Brinker (Mark Fidel) of Orlando, FL; three grandsons, Tom Kesling of New York, NY, Dan Kesling of La Porte, IN, and Sam Brinker of Dublin; and one brother, Robert Wolz of Key West, FL. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Arch L. Brinker, and her brother William Wolz. A memorial service will be postponed until a later date due to the COVID - 19 pandemic.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to Angels for Animals (http://angelsforanimals.org/) in Canfield, Ohio, or to the charity of donor's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Van Dyke - Swaney - Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.

James D. Lemmon
SALEM - James D. Lemmon, age 87, died Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Blossom Nursing Home and Rehabilitation.
He was born March 20, 1933 in Simpson, West Virginia, son of the late Rosco and Hazel E. (Kellison) Lemmon. No services will be held.
Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Norman Virgil Davis
Norman Virgil Davis, 65, residing in California, formerly of Salem, passed away at 10:53 PM on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born on August 27, 1954, son of the late Clyde and Janet (Potter) Davis. All arrangements and services are pending.

Edward James Bell Sr.
SALEM - Edward James Bell Sr., age 63, died Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 20, 1957 in Mogadore, a son of Gilda (Llewellyn) Bell and the late Fred Bell. Edward was a 1975 graduate of Salem High School. He worked in maintenance at Copeland Oaks and he enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his mother, Gilda Bell of Salem; wife, Barbara (Walker) Bell whom he married October 17, 1986; children, Edward Bell Jr. of Columbus; Alexander Bell of Vail, CO and Makala Bell of Salem; siblings, Jackie (Jack) Wilson of Kensington, Curt (Eva) Bell of Steilacoom, WA, Carla (Bob) Spaite of Columbiana, Rick (Mary) Bell of Dillon, CO, Kim (Julie) Bell of Salem and Craig (Jer) Bell of Mt. Wolf, PA. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Hope Cemetery with a Celebration of Life following the burial.
Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Stark Memorial. For the safety of the Bell family and visitors, please adhere to social distancing, and bring your own mask.

Margaret Jean (Sargent) Sprouse
SALEM - Margaret Jean (Sargent) Sprouse, 77, peacefully left her earthly home for her heavenly one on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Salem Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 1, 1943 in Mansfield, Ohio. She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband of 55 years, David; her only child, Cassandra (Kevin) Merolla of Akron; three sisters, Annabelle Barnhouse, Dorothy McCullough, Christine (Neal) Scott; two brothers, Edward (Dorothy) Sargent, Billy (Mary Anne) Sargent; and several nieces, nephews, and many other friends and acquaintances.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa (Maynard) Cross; father, James Sargent, and niece, Courtney Barnhouse. Margaret was the first born of her five siblings, living her entire life in the Salem area.
She married her sweetheart David on October 25, 1964 and spent most of her life as a homemaker. Margaret loved animals of all kinds and donated her time to the Columbiana County Humane Society in her younger years. She welcomed everyone she met with a smile, offered advice every chance she got, protected those she loved, and stated that all she ever wanted was her 'husband and baby'.
She loved doing word search puzzles, spending time with friends and family, and taking care of her house plants and yard. She became the matriarch of the family after mother passed, and she will be greatly missed by many. The family would like to extend a huge 'thank you' to the second - floor nursing staff at Salem Community Hospital, Community Hospice and Palliative Care, and Dr. Brianne Bagwell.
Memorial donations should be made to the Humane Society of Columbiana County, 825 S. Lincoln, P.O. Box 101, Salem, OH 44460. Family will receive guests at Stark Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow immediately. For the safety of the Sprouse family and visitors, please adhere to social distancing, do not linger, and bring your own mask.
Burial will follow at Woodsdale Cemetery in Hanoverton.

Gordon Bailey Hite
SALEM - Gordon Bailey Hite, age 88, died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Salem Regional Medical Center. Gordon was born February 24, 1932 in Pikeville, KY, a son of the late, Eliga and Alma (Spears) Hite. Gordon worked as an enameler at Eljer Plumbingware.
He was a member of Damascus Friends Church. Some of his joys were tinkering around the house and spending time with his grandchildren, where he loved watching their sporting games. He is survived by his wife, the former Gracy A. Blackburn, whom he married July 11, 1951; one son, Larry Bailey Hite (companion Debbie Gibson) of Kentucky; two daughters, Patricia (Steve) Andres of Salem and Sherri (Tom) Boosz of Salem; two sisters, Christine (Jim) Miller of Salem and Lula Mae Cline of Salem; two brothers, Southie and Cecil (Sue) Hite both of Pikeville, KY; five grandchildren, Becky Beall, Jeff Andres, Kristi Hite, Michael and Bailey Boosz; five great-grandchildren, Jaret Andres, Luke Beall, Leighanna Hite, Maddy and Jackson Andres.
Besides his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Blackburn, and two brothers, Herman and Bill Hite. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2020 at Stark Memorial. For the safety of the Hite family and visitors, please adhere to social distancing, and bring your own mask.
Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Beloit.

Louis "Lou" McPherson, Jr.
COLUMBIANA - Louis "Lou" McPherson, Jr., 91, passed away Wednesday evening, July 29, 2020 at his home. Mr. McPherson was born on May 23, 1929 in Rochester, PA, son of the late Louis and Edith Campbell McPherson. Louis had worked as a machinist for Babcox and Wilcox Ambridge plant for 30 years. Lou served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Jane Smith, whom he married on April 28, 2000; daughter, Merri Lou McPherson of Kent; sons, Bryan (Tammy) McPherson of Macon, GA and Louis McPherson, III of Warren; step daughters, Connie (Jimmy) Laughlin and Marsha (Robert) Davis all of Rogers; a sister, Mary Ellen Lehman of Beaver, PA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Marilyn Fry McPherson; sons, Ross McPherson, and Jeffrey McPherson, sisters, Lila Joyce Wilson and Rosealie; and a brother, Carlise 'Muggs' McPherson.
Memorial donations may be made to Ohio Living Hospice, 6715 Tippecanoe Road Building E Suite 201 Canfield, OH 44406. No services are being held for Lou, per his request.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick - Kummer - Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Armida Righetti
SALEM - Armida Righetti, age 92 died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 10, 1928 in San Vittorino, Abruzzo, Italy, daughter of the late Paolo Antonio and Crementina (Cialone) Berardi. Armida worked as a housekeeper for a local resident for six years, retiring in 1990 and previously Salem Convalescent Center for 12 years.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
She loved cooking, baking, crocheting, needlepoint flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her husband, Alberto Righetti whom she married March 1958 preceded her in death in 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Righetti and Mark (Kathrine) Righetti, both of Salem; one sister, Anna Maria Ionnazzi of L'Aquila, Italy; brother, Silvano Berardi of L'Aquila, Italy and four grandchildren, Joe, Nicholas, Dominic, Maximilian
Besides her parents, two sisters, Lina Lisi and Licia Capulla also preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Stark Memorial. For the safety of the Righetti family and visitors, please adhere to social distancing, do not linger and bring your own mask. Entombment will be held at Grandview Cemetery.

Cheryl Lynn Baxter (Dickson)
Cheryl Lynn Baxter (Dickson), 47, of Hanoverton passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, OH.
She was born on February 1, 1973, in Canton, OH, to Brenda Dickson (Sines) and the late Terry Gene Dickson Sr. Cheryl's passion was her son, Kye, and spending quality time with him. Coming from a large family, she looked forward to and treasured times spent together. Cheryl loved country music, especially live, and enjoyed attending concerts when given the opportunity. Cheryl is survived by her son, Kye Baxter, of Hanoverton and mother, Brenda (Sines) Baxter, of Pennsylvania. In addition, she is survived by siblings; Sandy Jones of Hanoverton, Gary Dickson of Pennsylvania, Terry Dickson of Alliance, Brian (Carol) Dickson of Lisbon, Chad Dickson of New Jersey, Shawn Dickson of Minerva, and Emily (Kevin) Sines - Kelly of Pennsylvania. In addition to her father, Cheryl was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Dickson. There will be no services.
Arrangements were by the Arbaugh - Pearce - Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
