Pamela Anne (May) Wickersham
Pamela Anne (May) Wickersham, 57, of Lisbon, died at 3:05 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Salem Regional Medical Center.
She was born on May 11, 1963, in Salem, the daughter of Earl Sidney Jr. and Janet G. (Fullerton) May.
She was a 1981 graduate of Sebring High School.
She married her husband of 35 years, Phillip Dean Wickersham, on June 1, 1985. She worked at the Salem Get - Go gas station from 2007 until the present, being the manager at the time of her death. She had a deep appreciation of sea glass, she loved to read, spend time with her grandchildren, and attending their soccer and baseball games. She also loved the outdoors and spending time at the lake and beach. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children; Joshua R. (Tiffany Ardeno) Wickersham of Salem, and Haley C. (Christine) Wickersham of Poland, two grandchildren, three siblings; Lori (Lee) Barker - Mason of Mcdonald, Denny Barker of Salem, and James (Isabell) Barker of Bristolville. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jason Barker.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020, from 1 - 4 PM at the Arbaugh - Pearce - Greenisen & Sons Funeral Home. All attendees are required by law to wear a mask while on the premises.
G. Donald Stapleton, Jr.
COLUMBUS - G. Donald Stapleton, Jr., 89, formerly of Salem, died in hospice care at Salem Regional Medical Center on Friday, June 12, 2020.
He was born September 3, 1930, in Lisbon to the late George D., Sr. and Christina (Sutter) Stapleton. Don was a 1948 graduate of Salem High School and a 1950 graduate of Salem Trade School.
He was employed by the Electric Furnace Company for 25 years, where he served in the transportation department.
He was also a sales representative for both Motor Express and Commercial Motor Freight. He retired from National Rubber Machinery (NRM), where he served 11 years as Transportation Manager. After retirement, Don drove school bus routes for Salem City Schools. Don served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1953 as a forward observer on the front lines of the Punchbowl and Heartbreak Ridge areas. He received the Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and the Korean Service Medal. Don acquired his pilot's license and enjoyed flying in his younger years. He coached Salem Junior Baseball teams for many years as well as serving as league commissioner.
He was also a past president of the Salem Athletic Booster Club. Don was an avid follower of all Cleveland professional sports teams. Don was a member of Salem First United Methodist Church, Salem Elks Club, Salem AMVETS Post 45, and the Mahoning Valley Chapter of Korean War Veterans Association.
Survivors include three children, Kristine B. (Chuck) Fabian of Mineral Ridge, OH, D. Michael Stapleton of Ooltewah, TN, and Richard A. (Diana) Stapleton of West Deer, PA; four grandchildren, Rick, Kevin, Stone, Ava; and great-granddaughter, Isla.
Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death in 2011 by his loving wife of 61 years, Eunice (Smith) Stapleton. They were married on October 14, 1950. Private service will be held at Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Doug George officiating. Interment will be at the Grandview Cemetery in Salem with military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.

Denise V. Dixon
East Palestine - Denise V. Dixon, age 59, of East Palestine, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, Youngstown.
She was born on August 14, 1960 in Winthrop, MA, a daughter of the late John and Dorothy Hutchinson Sarkisian. Denise had worked as a clerk at Walmart in both Calcutta and Chippewa for a total of seventeen years. Spending time with her family was her favorite pastime. She enjoyed family cookouts and loved visiting with friends and family. Denise had a heart of gold and will be remembered as a kind and giving person. She is survived by her husband, Glenn A. Dixon, Sr; son, Dustine Dixon of Lisbon; daughter, Justine Bowley of Lisbon, OH; step son, Glenn Dixon, Jr. of Lisbon; step daughter, Leanne Dixon of Baden, PA; four sisters, Valerie Sarkisian, Donna Deroach, Debbi Sarkisian, and Monique Sarkisian all of Orlando, FL; three brothers, Barry Sarkisian of West Palm Beach, FL, Paul Sarkisian of Orlando, FL, and Jackie Sarkisian of Orlando, FL. Denise is also survived by many grandchildren. Per the families wishes, no services will be held.

William Earl Mitchell, Sr.
East Palestine - William Earl Mitchell, Sr., age 67, of East Palestine, died on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at his home in East Palestine.
He was born on October 14, 1952 in Lisbon, OH, son of the late Earl Mitchell and Ella Mae Binder. William had worked as a Truck Driver with Dalton Sanitation and was Methodist by faith. He enjoyed building and fixing anything, He could take nothing and turn it into something. William was also an NHRA Fan. William is survived by his fiance', Terri Lyn Cline of East Palestine and his son, Joshua Mitchell of East Palestine.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at the Van Dyke - Swaney - Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine. To protect the families that we serve, our staff, and you, we ask that all visitors use face masks and follow the social distancing protocol. A private family funeral service will be held. Burial will take place at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford.

Jonathon W. Gullet, 47, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in the Salem Regional Medical Center Emergency Room, after taking ill in his home. All arrangements are pending.
Karen G. Dillon
Lisbon - Karen G. Dillon, age 67, of Lisbon, died on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Hospice House, Poland.
She was born on January 22, 1953 in Youngstown, OH, daughter of the late James and Mary Klein Pappas. Karen was a 1971 graduate of Poland high school and a 1976 graduate of Ohio State, where she obtained her bachelor's in pharmacy and went on to work as a Pharmacist with Rite Aid.
She was Lutheran by faith but was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lisbon. Karen had a passion for art and loved attending art shows and was a member of the North Eastern Ohio Forestry Association. She operated Dillon Fruit Farms for 32 years. She enjoyed making frequent trips to Presque Isle with her husband Jim, spending time at Fellows Riverside Garden in Mill Creek Park and photographing flowers, especially roses.. Karen is survived by her husband, James "Jim" R. Dillon, whom she married on October 1, 1982; and two sisters, Cheryl (Tom) Kear of Poland, OH and Leslie (Alan) Conzett of Boardman, OH. No services will be held at this time.

Gladys Virginia Drotleff
SALEM - Gladys Virginia Drotleff, age 87 died Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at her home.
She was born July 15, 1932 in Benwood, Ohio, daughter of the late William Godfrey and Hazel Leona (Lockhart) Marty. Gladys was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Her husband, Rudolph 'Rudy' Drotleff whom she married March 30, 1974 preceded her in death January 18, 1999.
Survivors include her stepson, Jay Drotleff of Salem and two stepdaughters, Karen Lee Tynes of Seattle, WA and Judy K. Haller of Suffolk, VA; two step grandchildren, Becky and Emily and two sisters, Thelma Poage and Betty Unger, both of Salem.
Besides her parents and husband, a stepfather, Willard Smith also preceded her in death. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2020 at Stark Memorial with Pastor Doug George officiating.

Gary Michael Colian Sr.
SALEM - Gary Michael Colian Sr., age 60, died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
He was born February 14, 1960 in Salem, son of Betty Jane (Foreman) Colian and the late Anthony Colian Jr. Gary was a 1978 graduate of Salem High School. He previously worked at FreshMark for over 15 years. Gary is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He loved to hunt and spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife and high school sweetheart, Sandra (Blackburn) Colian whom he married February 10, 1979; mother, Betty Jane Colian of Salem; three sons, Steven Michael Colian, Joseph (Kimmy) Colian and Gary Jr. (Darby) Colian, all of Salem; two brothers, Anthony (Debbie) Colian III and Jim (Lori) Colian, both of Salem; seven grandchildren, Steven Colian Jr., Brady, Morgan, Elli, and Chase Colian, Cody Ewing and Lacey Ewing. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Stark Memorial with Father Robert Edwards officiating.

Albert K. Ault
SALEM - Albert K. Ault, age 73 died Monday, June 1, 2020 at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
He was born February 20, 1947 in Steubenville, son of the late William John and Jean (Hannen) Ault. Albert was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson Union High School and a graduate of Jefferson Technical Institute in Steubenville with a Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering. He worked at Weirton Steel for over 30 years, where he was a computer tech. Albert was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a member of Damascus Friends Church. Albert loved to travel. His first wife, Janet B. (Freshwater) Ault, preceded him in death in 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne (Johnson) Menning Ault whom he married April 27, 2018; son, John Ault of Toronto; two brothers, Robert Ault of Ft. Wayne, IN and Dan Ault of Toronto.
Besides his parents and first wife, a brother, William Ault and a sister, Donna Ryan also preceded him in death. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at Stark Memorial with Pastor John Ryser officiating.

Gerald "Jerry" W. Hostetter
East Palestine - Gerald "Jerry" W. Hostetter, age 73, of East Palestine, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his home.
He was born on April 3, 1947 in Salem, OH, son of the late J. Wayne and Arleta Kuntz Hostetter. Gerald had worked as a machine and crane operator and retired from V & M Steel.
He was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, East Palestine. Gerald Served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was an avid motorcycle rider. Gerald is survived by his wife, Margaret Hood Hostetter, whom he married on June 28, 1968; his son, Timothy Wayne (fiancee Twala Wirth) Hostetter of Lynchburg, VA; daughter, Kimbraly Hostetter of Youngstown; sister, Beverly K. Madden of Columbiana; granddaughter, Karissa Marie Taylor of Youngstown; two nieces, Debi (John) Yurchison of Canfield and Deanna (Bill) Mcintosh of East Palestine; two great nieces, Emily and Mandy; a great nephew, Jacob; two brother-in-laws, Jerry (Pat) Hood and Michael Hood both of Milton, FL and two sister-in-laws, Lisa Hood and Jill Hood both of Milton, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-in-laws, Butch Madden and Jimmie Hood.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Van Dyke - Swaney - Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine where social distancing will be encouraged and mask protocol is suggested. Services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020, at 11:00 am at the Van Dyke - Swaney - Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating. Burial will take place at New Waterford Cemetery, New Waterford. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion, Post 31, Honor Guard.
