David E. Barker, Sr.
Salem - David E. Barker, Sr., 66, of Southeast Blvd., died at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mr. Barker was born March 9, 1954 in Victorville, CA a son of Millard E. and Geneva Goins Barker and had lived in this area the past four years, coming from Mansfield, OH. He had been employed as a truck driver for various trucking companies in the area. Mr. Barker is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Barker of Columbiana and David Barker, Jr. of Mansfield; and two grandchildren, Emma Barker and Kolton Ingledue. Services for the family will be private. Funeral arrangements have be entrusted to the Warrick - Kummer - Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
Delores Alberta Rance
SALEM - Delores Alberta Rance, age 87 died Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Salem North Healthcare.
She was born June 24, 1932 in Salem, daughter of the late Rolland and Margaret (Bradt) Sprowl. Delores was the best housewife and loving mother.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Salem. Nana was so loved by her children and grandkids. She will be deeply missed, and her memories will live on. Her husband, George Rance Sr. whom she married March 6, 1953 preceded her in death February 20, 2005.
Survivors include two sons, George (Sandy) Rance Jr. of Randolph and Joseph (Penny) Rance of Salem; two daughters, Rose (John) Sikora of West Virginia and Beth (Steve Hile) Rance of Lisbon; sister, Jackie Pirone of Youngstown; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, two sons, Robert Sprowl and Michael Rance; four sisters, Connie Wolf, Peggy Knestrick, Dorothy Wickersham and Gloria Elder; two brothers, Rolland Sprowl Jr. and John Sprowl also preceded her in death. A private service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 at Stark Memorial with Pastor Doug DeMar officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. Deborah 'Debbie' Sue Gilbert
East Liverpool - Deborah 'Debbie' Sue Gilbert, 69, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Continuing Health Care of Lisbon. Debbie was born December 27, 1950 in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late Alvin and Dorothy Harmer Gilbert. A lifelong resident of East Liverpool, she worked as a seamstress at Kozel's Custom Draperies and as a door greeter and cashier at Walmart. She attended Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.
She leaves behind one daughter, Arleta Ogden and her husband Jerry Ogden, Jr. of New Cumberland, WV; two granddaughters, Sabrina Wilson and Lynnsey Ogden; one grandson, Bryce Ogden; one great-grandson, Parker Wilson; three sisters, Nancy (Joseph) Rich, Kathryn (Gary) Smith and Cynthia Stacey; one brother, Stephen Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed sewing, playing games and loving on her two cats, Buffy and Shadow. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A private memorial service will be held at the Warrick - Kummer - Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell, WV.

Joseph (Joe) G. Wojtecki, Sr.
SALEM - Joseph (Joe) G. Wojtecki, Sr., age 96, decorated World War II veteran, loving and devoted father, pet lover, friend to many and long - time resident of Salem, Ohio, died on May 15, 2020, at Salem North Healthcare Center.
He was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six sons of the late John and Justina (Wagner) Wojtecki. A WWII U.S. Army veteran, Joe served with the storied 95th Infantry Division during the European campaign in the Rhineland and Central Europe theaters. He also served in the U.S. Army of Occupation in Yokohama, Japan. For his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and a WWII Victory Medal. Joe retired as a Traffic Supervisor in 1989 from Kaiser Manufacturing after 25 years of service. He previously worked for National Refractories and Mineral Corp. for five years.
He was a 1940 graduate of Union City High School and attended Youngstown State University and Kent State University Salem Campus. For many years, Joe was an engaged and active member of numerous organizations in his community including, Past President of Columbiana Rotary Club, Lisbon Eagles #2216, Salem AMVETS Post 45, 95th Infantry Division Assoc., Voiture 40 & 8 local Chapter 273, Past Commander of DAV Chapter 122, Honorary Life member of VFW #5532, Life member of American Legion #131 and Honorary Life member and Past Exalted Ruler (1983 - 1984) Salem Elks Lodge.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem, Salem Senior Citizens and Salem Area Retirees. Joe's survivors include son, Joseph, Jr. (Lourdes), stepson, Richard Kellner, his beloved terrier Scruffy and many nephews and nieces across the country.
He was preceded in death by wife, Mabel Alta Kellner and brothers, Rudolph Sr., William, John, George, and Frank. Burial services at Hope Cemetery are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home, including military honors, with a memorial service to be planned at a later date.

Irene Helen Quinn
COLUMBIANA - Irene Helen Quinn, age 96, of Columbiana, died on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 4, 1923 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of the late William and Mary Ort Rodenbaugh. Irene was a member of Eastern Star Miriam Chapter #278 and had belonged to countless church organizations. She recently began attending St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana.
She was an avid bowler and belonged to several different bowling leagues. Irene enjoyed working in her yard, flower gardening and cooking. In her early years, she enjoyed dancing with her husband and had belonged to the Starlight Dance Club. Mostly, Irene enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was completely devoted to the ones she loved. Her husband, A. Donald Quinn, Jr. whom she married on November 17, 1940, preceded her in death on, August 20, 2004. Irene is survived by her two daughters, Donna Mae Cannon of Columbiana, and Patricia "Pattie" Ann Bettura of Columbiana; son, Donald Allen (Mary Elizabeth) Quinn of Berlin Center; Thirteen grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren, and her former son in - law, James Bettura of Columbiana. She also leaves behind her best friend and partner in crime, grandson, Derek Randolph.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
The family will receive friends at the Warrick - Kummer - Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2020. Due to the COVID - 19 pandemic, social distancing will be followed as we ask people to pass through the funeral home using face mask protocol. A Funereal Mass will be held on Monday, May 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana with Father Christopher Cicero officiating. The church request that all attending use face mask protocol. Entombment will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield.

Nancy Jane (Horner) Mountz
HANOVERTON - Nancy Jane (Horner) Mountz, age 81 passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Salem North Healthcare.
She was born April 15, 1939 in Alliance to the late Maurice (Shorty) and Jeanette (Buck) Horner. Nancy was a member of New Lebanon Presbyterian Church. She taught bible school, Sunday school and served as the church clerk for several years. Nancy loved spending time with her family, going to church, gardening and reading. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Jeffery) Thomas of Hanoverton; her son, Timothy (Bonnie) Richards of Crystal Springs, FL; her son-in-law, Randy Warne of Hiawassee, GA; step daughters, Linda (Howard) Webb, of Massillon, Sue Shaw, of Lisbon; step sons, Harvey (Cindy) Mountz, of Kensington, Joseph Mountz and Nancy Armstrong, of Kensington; a sister, Sandra (Rex) Blaine, of Rockford, IL. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Nancy is preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Richards; second husband, Harold Mountz whom she married August 3, 1974; son, James Richards; daughter, Gail Warne; step son-in-law, Ed Shaw and granddaughter, Heather (Warne) Burg. Due to the COVID - 19 pandemic, the family has decided to withhold services at this time. There will be a private burial held at a later date at the New Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

David G. Parker, Jr.
COLUMBIANA - David G. Parker, Jr., age 33, of Columbiana, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 14, 2020.
He was born on July 24, 1986 in Salem, OH. a son of Shelly Fisher Parker Logan and David G. Parker, Sr. David was a graduate of Crestview High School and double majored in both business and political science at Bowling Green State University where he received his bachelor's degrees and belonged to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. David also attended Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, FL.
He was raised in the New Waterford United Methodist Church and was recently attending First Friends Church.
He was working as a sales tech at Verizon in Boardman where he received numerous awards in sales. He enjoyed working out at the YMCA in Boardman as well as spending time in the outdoors. David liked fishing, hunting, beaches and traveling. Although he traveled all over the world, he loved the changes in season that comes with living in Ohio and never wanted to move away from what mattered most to him, his family and friends.
He was loyal, compassionate, and hardworking. He had dreams of starting a family of his own and raising his children on a farm in the country. David will best be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend. He will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. David is survived by his mother, Shelly Fisher Parker Logan of Columbiana; father, David 'Greg' (Loria) Parker, Sr. of New Waterford; five sisters, Ashleigh Kennedy of Canfield, Rachael Parker of Marietta, OH, Alexis Logan of Columbiana, Nicole Logan of New Castle, PA, and Stephanie Palmer of Rogers; two brothers, Zechariah Parker of Columbiana, and Robert Logan of Columbiana. Also surviving is his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Featherstone of Columbiana; Paternal grandmother, Dorothy Foutts of East Liverpool, and his paternal grandfather, Bob Logan of East Liverpool.
He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Logan; his cousin and best friend, Jarid Fisher; maternal grandfather, Donald Featherstone, and his paternal grandfather, Jim Foutts.
The family will receive friends at the Warrick - Kummer - Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020. Francis Junior 'Fuzzy' Miller II
Francis Junior 'Fuzzy' Miller II, 48, of Lisbon, died at 3:30 Pm Thursday, April 30, 2020, unexpectedly at his mother's home.
He was born on May 25, 1971, in Salem, the son of Cathleen Ann (Strait) Miller and the late Francis Junior Miller. He formerly worked at Hum Town, Columbiana County Parks, and a short time for Daily Garbage Disposal. Fuzzy liked the outdoors and spending time hunting and fishing.
He was also good at working on and rebuilding engines of all kinds. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother Christopher Miller and a sister Megan Papic all of Lisbon. In addition to his father who died in 1986, he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Miller in 2002. Due to the Covid - 19, there will be no services held at this time. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the near future.
Thomas C. Rambo
Columbiana, OH - Thomas C. Rambo, age 79, formerly of California, KY, passed away Friday afternoon, May 1, 2020 at Hospice House, Poland, OH. Dr. Rambo was born on August 28, 1940 in Ranipet, India, son of the late Victor and Louise Birch Rambo. He moved to the US to attend the College of Wooster, in Wooster, OH, then moved on to earn his doctorate in biology from the Ohio State University. He spent two years teaching at Haile Selassie University in Alemaya, Ethiopia. Thomas was a professor (emeritus) of biology at Northern Kentucky University, where he received the Outstanding Professor, Professor of the Year, and Strongest Influence Faculty awards.
He was a founding member of the university faculty when he was hired in 1972. He also served as lay pastor at California Christian Church for 25 years and was most recently a member of First Christian Church in Covington, KY. Baseball (Cincinnati Reds). Birds (always watching). Ice cream (Graeter's). Warmth (temperature and personality). Travel (Costa Rica and beyond). Teaching (Always). Music (classical). Faith. But above all, generosity. Every student was his 'kid,' every person someone to be lifted up. He shed literal blood for the mosquitoes in his lab and selflessly sacrificed his lap for the comfort of his dogs—and even a cat or two. He opened his home to many, sharing the peace of the surrounding nature with everyone who visited. He loved his family with a quiet intensity you knew you could always count on—even when he was biting his tongue to keep from yelling about some stupid thing his kids had done. He is survived by his wife, the former Elinor E. Emery, whom he married on July 6, 1968; his son, T. Birch (Sharon) Rambo of Crockett, VA; his daughter, Elisabeth (Fritz) Nelson of Columbiana, OH; five grandchildren, Micah Rambo, Rosalind H. Rambo, Clara Lederer, Tabitha Lederer and Eric Nelson; a brother, Dr. William (Dr. Lydia Englehardt) Rambo of Charleston, SC; and a sister, Barbara Hoshiko of Ashland, OH.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Walters, and a brother, Dr. V. Birch Rambo. Services will be held at First Christian Church, Covington, KY, on a date to be determined later.

William 'Bill' David Murphy
DAMASCUS - William 'Bill' David Murphy, age 58, died Friday, May 15, 2020 at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 3, 1961 in Salem, son of Gail Murphy and the late Donna (Rhodes) Murphy. Bill was a 1980 graduate of West Branch High School. He worked as a tool and die maker for five years at Columbus McKinnon in Lisbon. Bill previously worked at Quaker Manufacturing and Sekely Industries, both in Salem.
He loved cars and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his father, Gail Murphy of Damascus; four daughters, Andrea (Ryan) Lujan, Ashley (Melvin Javens) Murphy, Allyssa Murphy and Allison Murphy, all of Salem; mother of his children, Stacey Murphy of Salem; three brothers, Darrell (Kristi) Murphy of Portsmouth; James (Patty) Murphy of Salem and Donald Murphy of Damascus and grandchildren, Adalynn and Maverick Javens and his girlfriend, Sherrie Scott Biery of Canfield.
