Age: 95
Sarah L. Shelton (Lavada), 95, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord at Millers Senior Living Community on June 23, 2003, at 8:25 p.m. She was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on July 19, 1907 to Willis J. and Zenolola Lett Jones. She was retired from J.C. Penny, Xenia, Ohio where she was a Sales Associate. She was a member of the First United Christian Church and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Sarah Ann (Leonard) Barton of Indianapolis, Indiana; one step-daughter, Wanda Chenalth, Lexington, Kentucky; one son, Charles Henry (Kathy) Wilson, Indianapolis, Indiana; one step-son, James Grimes, Boon Leigh, Colorado; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and Linda Clark. Her parents, three husbands, two sons and two sisters preceded her in death. Visitation will be Saturday, June 28, 2003, 9 a.m. at the First United Christian Church, Xenia, Ohio, with family present from 10 a.m. until time of service. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with Pastor Levi Braswell officiating. Final tribute is a service of Porter-Qualls Funeral Homes, Xenia Chapel. Bonnie Vernell Foster
Died: Monday, June 23, 2003
Age: 65
Bonnie Vernell Foster, 65, of Xenia, went home to meet her Lord on Monday, June 23, 2003, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born on Sept. 26, 1937, in Jamestown, Ohio, the daughter of Purl M. and Mapel Finetta (Clark) Steiner.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Melvin, Estel, Cecil, Marion and Orval; and her sister Mildred Dudley.
Mrs. Foster was a school bus driver for Greene Corp. for many years. She will be missed by all. Her faith in God, was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband Paul Fulton Foster whom she married on Jan. 18, 1957; children Stephen (Jackie) Foster, Donald Foster, Daniel Foster, Mark Foster and Martin (Tina) Foster; grandchildren Nicole, Tyler, Dustin and Brittany; a sister Iolene (Pete) Preston of Cottonwood, AZ; a brother Clark (Kay) Steiner of Shasta Lake, CA; sisters-in-law Fern and Pearle Steiner; also several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 27, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Community Church, 1020 Lower Bellbrook Ave., Xenia with Pastor John Lockwood officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 until the time of service at the church.
The family is being served by the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 826 N. Detroit Street, Xenia.

Don Grimes
Died: Monday, June 23, 2003
Age: 69
Don Grimes, 69, of Xenia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2003, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 10, 1934 in Xenia, Ohio the son of Delbert and Jettie (Worley) Grimes.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Don is survived by his wife of 26 years, Irene (Green) Grimes of Xenia; his brother, Delbert Grimes of Xenia; nine children, Gloria Grimes of Washington, D.C., Don Grimes Jr. of Dayton, Donna Grimes of Dayton, Greg Hamilton-Grimes and his wife Drema of Fairborn, Deborah Green of Columbus, Marvin Green and his wife Beverly of Xenia, James Green of Georgia, Will Cater and his wife, Irene of Virginia and Sharon Green of Georgia; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2003, at First Zion Baptist Church, 15 E. Xenia St., Jamestown, Ohio, with Rev. James Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2003, at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, Ohio 45385.
Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Ruth V. Hughes
Died: Sunday, June 22, 2003
Age: 70
Ruth V. Hughes, 70, of Beavercreek, passed away Sunday evening, June 22, 2003, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born March 9, 1933, in Bethel, KY.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford Hughes; five children, Glenda Brents of Mississippi, daughter and son-in-law Judi and Gary Jones of Indiana, son Steven Hughes, daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Jeff Murrell of Xenia, and Pamela Abshire of Xenia. Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Abbott, Randy Brown Jr., Justin, Ryan and Charity Murrell, Nathan McCart, Terri Jackson, Shawn and Kelly Jones, Brent, Julia and Kyle Hughes, Heather Brents; and numerous brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Hays and Hazel Vanlandingham; one brother Bud Vanlandingham; granddaughter Amie Brents; and son-in-law Paul Hickey.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2003 at Newcomer Farley Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2003.
Pastor Gary Favor will be officiating with interment at Valleyview Memorial Gardens.
Ricky D. Christopherson Sr.
Died: Wednesday, June 18, 2003
Age: 48
Ricky D. Christopherson Sr., 48, of Fairborn, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in the Wright-Patterson AFB Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 31, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Arden and Thelma (Hopkins) Christopherson.
Rick worked in Maintenance for the Dayton Comfort Inn, and was the President of Babe Ruth Baseball.
Preceded in death by a brother, and a grandson, Austin Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Debra Christopherson; his parents, Arden and Thelma Christopherson; six sons, Ricky D. Christopherson, and wife Dana of Illinois, Michael W. Christopherson, and wife Jamie, Timothy Christopherson, and wife Brandi, Brandon L. Christopherson, Clifford A. Christopherson, Andrew P. Christopherson, all of Fairborn; a daughter, Sarah R. Christopherson of Fairborn; three brothers, Bruce of Florida, Mark, and wife Linda of Jamestown, Jon, and wife Shelly of Grove City; three sisters, Barbara of Illinois, Darla, and husband Jeff of Urbana, Bess, and husband Kevin of Fairborn; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 23, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Belton Funeral Home, Fairborn, where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Vernon Hurles officiating. Burial will follow in the Byron Cemetery.
Emory Fradd
Died: Wednesday, June 18, 2003
Age: 80
Emory Fradd, 80, passed away Wednesday morning June 18, 2003, in Daytona Beach, Florida. He and his wife, Mildred, were farmers in the Jamestown/Cedarville area for 29 years.
His wife, Mildred, preceded him in death in June 2001.
Surviving him is a son Larry; his wife Carol; a grandson Christopher; three step-grandsons, Steve, Robert and David; and a brother Roy Fradd.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Ormond Beach, Florida. Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service.

Anna Lillian McCool
Died: Wednesday, June 18, 2003
Anna Lillian (Shellabarger) McCool, former resident of Enon, Ohio, now a resident of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in Port Charlotte. Born Nov. 24, 1909, on a farm near Enon, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond and Lydia (Humbarger) Shellabarger.
She was married to Harold McCool June 1, 1939. She was a graduate of Wittenburg University and received her vocational Degree in Home Economics at Ohio State University.
She taught at Woodstock, Peebles and Swanton, Ohio, before retiring from Greenon High School in 1971. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution-Rebecca Galloway Chapter, Fairborn, Ohio, and an associate member of the Charlotte Bay Chapter DAR, Punta Gorda, Cornelius Melyn Chapter of Colonial Dames of Seventeenth Century, charter member of Manito #27 White Shrine of Jerusalem, Past Matron of Antioch Chapter #445 of Eastern Stars, Yellow Springs, Ohio, and Aldora Chapter #262, Xenia, Ohio.
She attended Knob Prairie United Church of Christ in Enon and was an associate member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ of Port Charlotte. She was a member of the Enon Historical Society, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Clark County Retired Teachers Association and Ohio Vocational Associate.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rilla Evelyn Seifert of Enon, and her husband, Harold, of 54 years, who died in April 1994.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold Michael McCool and wife, Linda of Brandon, Florida, and Herbert Douglas McCool of Port Charlotte, Florida; three granddaughters, Amy and David Berry of Indianapolis, Indiana, Melissa and Duane Kamstra of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Martha McCool of Spring Valley, Ohio; three great-granddaughters, Catherine Weber and Selina Weber of St. Cloud and Angel McCool of Spring Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call in the Burcham Funeral Home, 119 E. Main Street, Fairborn, Ohio (878-0711) Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Knob Prairie United Church of Christ, Enon, Ohio.
Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Knob Prairie Church of Enon, Ohio or Pilgrim Church, Port Charlotte, Florida.
