Age: 57
Virginia "Ginny" Ann Patrick, 57, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2003, at Greene Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 10, 1946, in Dayton, daughter of Arnold and Nannie Lee (Hamilton) Patrick.
Ginny was a long time resident of Jamestown Family Care Home of Toward Independence, Inc. and worked at Greene Inc.
She was preceded in death by her mother Nannie Lee Patrick; sister, Vivian Patrick; grandparents Ben and Emma Patrick and a niece Denise Patrick.
Survivors include her Jamestown group home brothers and sisters, Mark, Robert, James, Mike, Mary B., Mary C., Fran, her father, Arnold Patrick of Troy; a sister, Verna Austin of Beavercreek; three brothers, Richard (Rita) Patrick of Trotwood; Glen (Mickie) Patrick of Beavercreek and Dennis (Kim) Patrick of Tipp City; special niece and her husband, Mary Jane and Darrell Campbell of Beavercreek and their children Jennifer, Julia and Christopher, also other extended family members and many friends.
Funeral will be Wednesday, August 27, at 11 a.m. at the McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with the Rev. James Wiley Jr., officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Toward Independence, Inc., in memory of Virginia Patrick, 81 E. Main St., Xenia, OH, 45385, to help with funeral expenses.
Olga Ree Johnson
Died: Saturday, August 23, 2003
Age: 87
Olga Ree Johnson, 87, of Xenia, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Greene Memorial Hospital.
She was born on July 30, 1916, in Segal, KY, the daughter of James and Mantha Doyle.
Olga was a loving mother and grandmother who cared deeply for her family and her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hassie Lee Johnson, in April 1995; a daughter and son-in-law, Nellie and William Sheets; four grandchildren, Michael A. Sheets, Edith Ree Sheets, Robert Allen Sheets and James Lee Sheets; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard (Donna) Johnson and Johnny W. Johnson, both of Xenia; two sisters, Zelma McAdams of Muncie, Ind., and Dorene Doyle of Kentucky; a brother, James Doyle of Kentucky; her grandchildren, Richard and Paul David Sheets, Mary Frances (Henry) Pitstick, Sheri Kay (Michael) Wilson, Staci (Randy) Johnson and Rodney and Johnny L. Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren, R. Michael Grooms, Gregory Lee Grooms, Curtis Randall Johnson, Lindsey Ree Johnson, Delaney Rae Johnson, Sarah Marie Sheets, William Harry Lee Sheets, Tara Marie Bowermaster, Mary Nicole Bowermaster, Tiffany Nicole Sheets, Destiny Natasha Sheets, Jimmy Alan Sheets and Brandon Lee Sheets; and two great-great-grandchildren, Makayla Faye Grooms and Gavin Michael Grooms.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, at noon at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor William Rowe officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday. Burial will be at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the direction of McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia.
Susan R. Harer
Died: Friday, August 22, 2003
Age: 84
Susan R. Harer, 84, of Jamestown, passed away on Friday evening at Liberty Nursing Center in Jamestown.
She was born in Jamestown November 18, 1918, the daughter of Rodney and Luberta (Siders) Roberts.
She was a member of the Jamestown Church of Christ and in her youth attended the Columbus School for the Deaf.
Her parents, husband Elmer, sisters Mary Ringer, Nina Stingley, Ruth Hoppel, Della Mae Perrine, brother Roy Roberts and nephew Bobby Ringer preceded her in death.
She is survived by brothers-in-law Robert Ringer, Forest Stingley and Neil Hoppel, all of Jamestown; nieces Ruth Fowler, Bonnie Wilson and Cindy Marshall of Jamestown and Nancy Lovett of Jeffersonville; nephews Bob Roberts and Allen Hoppel of Jamestown, Ronnie Perrine of Xenia and Donald Perrine of Florida.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Powers Funeral Home in Jamestown, where friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be in the Silvercreek Cemetery.
Harry O. Kelly
Died: Friday, August 22, 2003
Age: 70
Harry O. Kelly, age 70, of Fairborn, passed away Friday, August 22, 2003, in his residence.
He was born September 18, 1923, in Mecklenburg, N.C., the son of the late F.C. and Agnes (Martin) Kelly.
He served his country from 1942 to 1952 with the U.S. Navy and later with the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the rank of TSGT in May 1970.
Upon retirement, he worked as a Package Store Operator for Wright Patterson AFB.
He was married to Mary Kelly, who preceded him in death in October 2000.
Harry is survived by three sons, Harry R. Kelly of Fairborn, Joseph Grenier of Florida and Richard Grenier of Rochester, Mich.; a daughter, Jeanette Barrett of Clinton Township, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin and Leslie Kelly.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Belton Funeral Home in, Fairborn, with Dr. Stuart M. Snow officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service in the funeral home.
Burial with full military honors will be in the Fairfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
LaVawn Elizabeth Inskeep Cavin
Died: Thursday, August 21, 2003
Age: 86
LaVawn Elizabeth Inskeep Cavin, 86, of Beavercreek, passed away August 21, 2003, at Bethany Lutheran Village in Centerville.
LaVawn was born November 3, 1916, in Coldwater, OH, to Lee and Minnie Inskeep. She married Francis Jeremiah "Jerry" Cavin January 7, 1956, and came to Beavercreek with him.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985 and is survived by their three daughters, Karel Ann (and Carl) Slife of Celina; Connie (and Kirby) Webster of Beavercreek and Linda (and Bill) Johnson of West Chester.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jennifer Greene-Schell, Jeremy, Amanda and Aimee Greene; Kelcie and Derek Webster, Emily and Megan Johnson and one great-grandchild, Dawson Schell. She also leaves behind many cousins and life-time friends.
There will be a viewing from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 24, at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek
There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, August 25, at Kenton First United Methodist Church, 234 N. Main Street, Kenton, OH. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery in Kenton.
David Byron Warner
Died: Thursday, August 21, 2003
Age: 57
David Byron Warner, 57, of Granger, IN, died Thursday, August 21, 2003, at home.
Born May 1, 1946, in Dayton, he was son of the late David R. and Eileen Brooks Warner.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Shepler Warner, whom he wed Aug. 4, 1990; a daughter, Jennifer L. Warner of Bellbrook; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ian (Jennifer) Hope, Ft. Wayne, IN; a step-son, Jarrod Colvin, of Wabash, IN; a brother William (Sherry) Warner, of Jamestown; a granddaughter, Callie Warner of Bellbrook and three grandsons, Jacob Burgess and Matthew Hope of Ft. Wayne, IN and Ethan Colvin of Wabash, IN.
Mr. Warner was the engineering and maintenance manager at ICG Castings, Inc., in Dowagiac, MI; a member of the National Rifle Association and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea, Japan and Vietnam.
Services will be Monday, August 25, at 11 a.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Manchester Ave. Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, IN.
Friends may call at the chapel Monday from 9-11 a.m.
Burial will be in the Friends Cemtery in Wabash.
