Age: 88
Edna P. Falley, 88, formerly of Newark and Columbus, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Hospitality West Nursing Home, Xenia, OH.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Johnstown, OH, with Rev. Calvin Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Alexandria, OH.
Ms. Falley was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Newark, OH, to the late Charles and Cora Drake Falley. She retired after 34 years with Timken Roller Bearing Co., Columbus, OH.
Survived by one daughter, Linda S. Combs of Homosassa, FL; three grandchildren, Gidget Hensley of Xenia, OH, Melissa Collins of Homosassa, FL, Richard Henson Jr. of Xenia, OH; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Zachary, Dalton, Tricia and Alexandra; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, at the funeral home.
Betty Lou Lyle
Died: Tuesday, July 22, 2003
Age: 64
Betty Lou (Hunter) Lyle, 64, of Fairborn, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at 12:45 p.m. in Patriot Ridge Community.
Betty was born May 30, 1939, in Maysville, KY, to James and Bessie (Fultz) Hunter.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairborn.
She is survived by two sons, Rick (Rhonda) Hunter and Robert Lyle, both of Fairborn; two daughters, Beth Fyffe and Teresa Wiggans, both of Fairborn; two sisters, Jean Cremeans of Michigan and Glenna Hunter of Fairborn; four brothers, Howard Hunter, Curt Hunter, Roger Hunter, and Wendell Hunter, all of Fairborn; grandchildren, Angela Fyffe, Amanda Fyffe, Jesse Hunter, Derrick Hunter, Jordan Hunter, Brooklyn Hunter, Katelyn Wiggans, Aubrie Lyle, Codie Lyle; great-grandchildren, Triston Fyffe, Kaley Fyffe, and Devin Gannoe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother for over 40 years.
She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald Lyle in Nov. 2002, and her brother, Kendall Hunter.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 25, 2003, from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Fairborn.

Anna Mae Hyer
Died: Tuesday, July 22, 2003
Age: 90
Anna Mae Hyer, 90, of Washington C.H., formerly of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday morning at Court House Manor in W.C.H. She was born in Ross Co., Ohio, April 24, 1913, the daughter of Villa Glen and Elsie Helen (Mossbarger) Shultz.
She was a member of the New Breath Assembly of God in W.C.H.
Her parents, husband Ronald and a daughter, Barbara Hyer, preceded her in death.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald E. (Gene) and Thelma of W.C.H., Vernon and Sharon of Xenia, Dale and Sonya of Lexington, III, Daniel and Terrie of Bowersville; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Powers Funeral Home in Jamestown, where friends may call Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Leesburg.
Clarice O. Jarvis
Died: Tuesday, July 22, 2003
Age: 91
Clarice O. Jarvis, 91, of Fairborn, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2003, in the Daysprings of Miami Valley. She was born on Sept. 3, 1911, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Cecil and Ollie M. (Bailey) Oppenheimer.
She started her teaching career at the age of 17 in Carter County, Kentucky, and is retired from Fairborn City Schools with 30 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Enon.
Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert R. Jarvis, in 1981; a sister, Sara Gore; and four brothers, Dovel, Paul Cecil, Jr., and Charles "Mose" Oppenheimer.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jo Frei of Fairborn; three grandsons, Michael and wife Verna of Enon, Kenneth and wife Sue of Springfield, Timothy of Springfield; two great-grandchildren, Alicia Wills and husband, James, and Andrew; her great-great-grandson, Aiden Xavier Wills; four sisters, Marjorie Holbrook and Doris Fielding, both of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Maxine Friedman and husband, Hans, of Evanston, Illinois, Patricia Solomon and husband, Harold, of Huber Heights; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 24, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the Belton Funeral Home, Fairborn, with Pastor Clyde Bowen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will take place in the Tick Ridge Cemetery, Olive Hill, Kentucky, on Friday, July 24, 2003, at 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in her memory.
Eleanor S. Williams
Died: Monday, July 21, 2003
Age: 78
Eleanor S. Williams, 78, of Centerville (formerly of Beavercreek), passed away Monday, July 21, 2003, at Hospice of Dayton. Eleanor was born in Orville, OH, to Rev. Albert and Sarah Sherry and was a graduate of Xenia High School and Miami University.
She also completed additional work at Wright State University. Eleanor retired from teaching in the Beavercreek public schools in 1987.
She was a member of PEO Chapter AK, Beavercreek Women’s League, Fairmont Presbyterian Church and an associate member of the Englewood FL United Methodist Church.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leroy Scherry; and by first husband of 42 years, Richard Job.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Williams, and his family; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Susan Job of Gaithersburg, MD, and William and Diana Job of Kettering, OH; three grandchildren, Abby, Derek and Brad Job; two sisters, Carolyn Jones of Wilmington, NC, Cordelia Manger of Catonsville, MD; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 24, at 2 p.m. at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH, with Rev. David E. Bickett officiating. Private burial in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In memory of Eleanor, the family suggests memorial be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 or the charity of your choice.
Roland Tidd
Died: Monday, July 21, 2003
Age: 74
Roland "Mr. Penny" Tidd, 74, of Xenia, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Liberty Nursing Home, Xenia, where he had resided for the past two months. He was born on Dec. 16, 1928, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Glen E. and Anna B. Tidd, and had a sister, Anna Tidd.
Mr. Tidd served in the U.S. Army.
He was never married and lived in the Xenia Towers for the past 21 years. Roland will be truly missed by his friends, caregiver, Mary, and a special friend, Tiny.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the VA National Cemetery, Dayton, with Terry Chandler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the VA Medical Center.

Edith Phillippi
Died: Monday, July 21, 2003
Age: 87
Edith Phillippi, 87, of Beavercreek, passed away Monday, July 21, 2003. Edith was born on March 9, 1916, in Somerset, KY, to the late Perry and Sara Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Phillippi, on Nov. 5, 1982.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Jewell, Doris Oiler, Charlotte Gerhardt, and Diana Bruce; son, William D. Phillippi; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and loved ones.
Private services will be held by her family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
