Marie T. Smith, 91, of Bowersville, passed away September 25, 2003, at the Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Greene County Sept. 1, 1912, the daughter of Henson and Ethel (Evans) Talbott.
She is survived by her daughter, Vera Mae (Charlie) Richardson, grandson, Alan (Carol) Richardson, all of Bowersville; two great-grandchildren, Shannon (Matt) Hafertepen, serving in the U.S. Army and Justin (Stephanie) Richardson of Wilmington, great-great-grandson, Chase Alan Richardson; sister, Donna Johnson of Jamestown and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, brothers, Howard and Nell and sister Eloise. She was a member of the Bowersville United Methodist Church.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Powers Funeral Home in Jamestown where friends may call Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bowersville United Methodist Church, 5792 E. Xenia St., Bowersville, OH, 45307.
Linda G. Richardson
Died: Thursday, September 25, 2003
Age: 60
Linda G. Richardson, 60, Jamestown, passed away Thursday evening, September 25, 2003, at Hospitality Home West. She was born October 22, 1942, in Cleves, OH, the daughter of William and Gladys Reed Riggs.
She is survived by her husband, George E. Richardson, whom she married May 18, 1974; step-daughter and husband, Stella and Roger Nicolai, Medina and a step-son and wife, George E. Richardson Jr. and Monica, Indianapolis, IN; nine step-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Riggs, CA, and Mabel and Bob McQuese, Aurora, IN and two sisters-in-law, Jean Riggs, Aurora, IN, and Janie Riggs, Greendale, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 29, at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor Joe Sharp officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 S. Perry St., Suite 120, Dayton, OH, 45402-1429.
Beryl Richard Shearer

Age: 92
Beryl R. Shearer, 92, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia. She was the mother of Gordon and James Shearer.

Charles Richard Cline
Died: Tuesday, September 23, 2003
Age: 79
Charles Richard Cline, 79, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 23, 2003, at his home. He was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Xenia the son of Lawrence and Edith (Williams) Cline.
Charlie retired in 1985 as an inspector at the Harrison Radiator. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving mainly in Japan, Philippines and New Guinea. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, the VFW, Eagles and Elks and was an avid golfer and bowler.
He bowled in leagues in Xenia for over 50 years and had been a pinsetter in earlier years.
He was preceded in death by his father; his wife of over 55 years, Mary Ann (Wells) Cline, in 2001; sisters, Mildred Moore and Edith Marie Roberts, and a brother, Robert Cline.
Surviving him is his mother, Edith Cline of Xenia; daughters, Donna (Marvin) Johnson and Judy (Mike) Williams of Xenia; a son, Charles R. Jr. (Carol) Cline of Pickerington; a brother, Donald (Lois) Cline of Xenia; grandchildren, Kim, Erica, Joey, Rachelle, Lori, Catherine and Christina; great-grandchildren, David, Derrick, Erik, Aries and Ethan; several nieces and nephews, other extended family members and many friends.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. today, Sept. 26, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 287 West Main St., Xenia. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Glen Bengson officiating. Burial is in the Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia.

Cassius E. Hubbard

s E. Hubbard, 84, of Cedarville, went home to his Lord on Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at Community Hospital in Springfield.
He was born on December 22, 1918, in Cedarville, Ohio, the son of William and Fannie (Bell) Hubbard.
Mr. Hubbard retired from the Village of Cedarville and was a member of the 3-C Camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Terry Lee Hubbard; brothers Floyd "Derby" Marion and William Leon Hubbard; sisters Katherine Beninning, Lucille Peterson, Goldie Dothy, Juel Smith and Anna Lee Butler.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Lourella (Baker) Hubbard of 58 years, of Cedarville; daughters, Brenda Hubbard of Cedarville, and Vicki (Dale) Dent of Washington Court House; sons Richard (Janice) Hubbard of Cedarville and Curtis (Sheri) Hubbard of Lebanon, Ohio; grandchildren Nicholas Hubbard, Curtis Hubbard Jr., Lauren Hubbard and Paige Hubbard; a brother, John Hubbard of Dayton; and a brother-in-law, Elsworth Beninning of Springfield; a host of special nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2003, at 1 p.m. at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia.
Family will receive friends on Friday at 12:00 p.m. (noon) until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Massie Creek Cemetery, Cedarville.
Martha Leona Hershner Allen
Died: Tuesday, September 23, 2003
Age: 91
Martha Leona Hershner Allen, 91, of Marysville, formerly of Xenia, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003, in the Morey Center of Memorial Hospital of Union County in Marysville following a short illness.
A loving wife and mother, she was employed as a secretary with Buckeye Rug in Dayton for over 30 years. After moving to Marysville, she was a loyal employee of Dec-Rite for over 10 years. She will be remembered as a strong-willed woman of great faith who took tremendous joy in spoiling her grandchildren.
She was born July 17, 1912, near Mt. Gilead to the late Fred and Effie James Russell.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Kiefer, a brother, Marion Russell, her first husband, Howard Hershner, and her second husband, Clarence Allen.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Horace) McConnell, Marysville; three sons: Marion (Lois) Hershner, Black Canyon City, AZ, Fred (Betty) Hershner, Beavercreek, and Norman (Bonnie) Nietzel, Myrtle Beach, SC; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, September 26, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mannasmith-Hale Funeral Home, Marysville. Reverend Mo Dunn will officiate. Burial will take place at the River Cliff Cemetery in Mt. Gilead on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Katherina A. Brueck
Died: Sunday, July 13, 2003
Age: 78
Katherina A. Brueck, 78, of Fairborn, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2003, in her residence. She was born on June 2, 1925, in Griesheim-Darmstadt, Germany, to the late Karl and Elizabeth Bastian.
Mrs. Brueck is survived by her husband, Alfred K. Heinrich-Brueck; her daughter, Brigitte Berry and husband, Lorin; her son, Walter Bastian and wife, Martha; grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly Anne, Christopher and Paul Berry, Sandra, Sabrina and Daniel Bastian; great-grandchildren, Kaitlain, Ryan, Collin, Justin and Angelina; her sister-in-law, Reni Hertzberger; a nephew, Mario Wunsch; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
A private graveside service will be conducted at the Byron Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, in her memory.
The family has entrusted arrangements to the Belton Funeral Home, Fairborn.
