Robert E. Meredith

Age: 84
Robert E. Meredith, 84, of Waynesville and formerly of Bellbrook passed away Friday, July 4, 2003, at Kettering Memorial Hospital. Born in Warren Co. on Jan. 4, 1919, to Herbert and Lena Meredith.
Robert previously worked for the Ohio Dept. of Highway Safety, a part owner in Leisure Lawn, and for 23 years as a Greene Co. Jury Commissioner. He served five years in the U.S. Army during WWII and is a member of the Waynesville American Legion Post 615.
He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time in the garden, particularly with tomato plants.
An infant daughter, his parents, and one sister Marjorie Huston preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Irma Fires Meredith, married
54 years; four daughters Karen and her husband Harrison Whittamore of Waynesville, Annie and her husband Michael Sassin of NJ, Gail Meredith of CA, and Kathleen and her husband Jeff Brown of CA; five grandchildren Heidi Miltenberger, Nathaniel and Heath Whittamore, and Scott and Ryanne Brown; two great-grandchildren Lukas Whittamore and Samantha Miltenberger; two brothers Wayne and his wife Jeanette Meredith of MT and H. Dale Meredith of WA; and three sisters Janice and her husband Don Davis of VA, Doris Engelhard, and Dorothy Sackett both of FL.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Rev. Jing Chow officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Waynesville American Legion Post 615.
Hollis E. Kensinger
Died: Tuesday, July 01, 2003
Age: 76
Hollis E. Kensinger, 76, formerly of Fairborn, passed away July 1, 2003, at Liberty Nursing Center in Jamestown. He was born in St. Paul, Minn., July 8, 1926, the son of Harold and Sadie Kensinger.
A retired postal employee, he served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and was a 1st Lt. serving with the US Air Force during the Korean War.
His parents, wife Helen Kensinger, brother Robert and a sister Deloris preceded him in death.
He is survived
by a brother-in-law, Bill and wife Barbara Roberts of Dayton.
Burial will be in the Fairfield cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Hazel Edmison
Died: Wednesday, July 30, 2003
Age: 96
Hazel Edmison, 96, Xenia, passed away Wednesday morning, July 30, 2003, at Greene Oaks Health Center. She was born Dec. 1, 1906, in Portsmouth, the daughter of B.G. and Nan Gullett Ratlieff.
She was a former member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold K. Edmison, July 13, 1999; a son, David Kiser; a daughter, Vivian Norbury; a step-son, Charles William Edmison; and a sister, Opal Flood.
She is survived by a grandson, Robert Keene, Ft. Myers, Florida.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. Friday until service time.
Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery.
Lynn M. Johns
Died: Tuesday, July 29, 2003
Age: 77
Lynn M. Johns, age 77 of Fairborn, passed away on Tuesday July 29, 2003 in the Daysprings of Miami Valley. A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 10, 2003 at 12:00 Noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 1130 Highview Drive, Fairborn. Arrangements in care of Belton Funeral Home, Fairborn.
Elsie Helena Gibson
Died: Tuesday, July 29, 2003
Age: 83
Elsie Helena (Ernst) Gibson, 83, of Fairborn, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Hospitality House West in Xenia. She was born Jan. 1, 1920, the daughter of William and Emma (Craig) Ernst in North Vernon, Ind.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Clyde Gibson; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Barbara Gibson of Muskego, Wis., and Terry and Connie Gibson of Beavercreek; two brothers, John "Jack" Ernst and Thomas "Junior" Ernst, both of Indiana; grandchildren, John Gibson, Erica Miller and husband Todd, Benjamin Gibson and Laura Gibson, and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Devin Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the Burcham Funeral Home, 119 E. Main St., Fairborn, on Thursday, July 31, from noon until time of services at 1 p.m., with Rev. Merle Walter officiating. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
Elizabeth Albers O’Brien
Died: Monday, July 28, 2003
Age: 92
Elizabeth Albers O’Brien, 92, of Mentor, Ohio, died Monday evening, July 28, 2003, at Mentor Way Care Center after an extended illness. She was born March 4, 1911, in Sidney, Ohio, to Henry B. and Nellie (Markland) Albers and was a Mansfield area resident many years of her life.
She was a 1928 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and was formerly employed as a secretary. Elizabeth was a member of Resurrection Parish.
She was also a member of Mansfield Federation of Women, Helen Hayden Charity Club, Lexington Senior Citizens, A.A.R.P. and a charter member of Philomathian Club. She was an avid Bridge player and teacher.
She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen Hawks of Aurora, Colorado, Betsy Mitman of Mentor, and Peggy and Victor Kratzer of Zhuhai, China; five grandchildren, Andrew Hawks, Sarah Kratzer Stollmack and husband, Michael, Russell Kratzer, Megan Mitman and Brice Mitman; a sister and brother-in-law, Katie and Paul Davis; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Henry Albers and Mrs. John Albers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis R. O’Brien on March 12, 1985; brothers, Henry, Frederick, Horace, John and Robert Albers; and sister, Dorothy Wolf.
Mass of Christian burial, conducted by Father Stan Szybka, will be held Friday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Parish. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.

Fred M. Hall
Died: Monday, July 28, 2003
Age: 77
Fred M. Hall, 77, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 28, 2003, in Clinton, Pennsylvania. He was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Plumbers Landing, Kentucky, the son of M.K. and Lonie (Rice) Hall.
Fred was a retired general contractor from Hall Builders.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mabel Hall; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marcus and Patricia Hall of New Carlisle, Bobby Ray and Teri Hall of Gas City, Indiana; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; foster daughter, Linda and Harry Holsinger of New Carlisle and their children; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Hartman; five brothers, Lee, Malon, Milford, Mac and Bill; two sisters, Dora Kidd and Myrtle Bell.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at the Wesleyan Evangelistic Church, with Pastor John Manley officiating. Burial in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Trostel, Chapman & Christmas Funeral Home, New Carlisle, Ohio.
