Blanche Lucille Merryman
Blanche Lucille Merryman, 95, formerly of Uhrichsville, died Nov. 17, 2000 at Twin City Health Care Center, Uhrichsville.
She was born Dec. 24, 1904 in Tippecanoe, a daughter of the late Odell Franklin Stewart and Agnes Gertrude Irons.
She was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School. A member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church and its Deborah Class Sunday School. She devoted her life to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Carl Frederick Merryman; four brothers, Walter S., Ira Golby, Price L. and Roy B. Stewart; two sisters, Della S. Carr and Ila Wharton.
Surviving are two nieces, Dorothy J. Benedum and Mildred P. White both of Uhrichsville; nephew, David Stewart of Tippecanoe; stepson, John M. and wife Marylee Merryman of New Philadelphia; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jerry (Barbara) Mambuca of Middleburgh Heights and Sally Hobson of Upper Arlington; several great nieces and nephews; a special friend, Lucy Mallernee Purser.
Service was Nov. 20, 2000 in R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Inc., Dennison with the Rev. Steve Sullivan officiating. Burial in Greenmont Cemtery, Freeport.

Joan Robin Fix Dawson
Joan Robin Fix Dawson, 45, Wintersville, died March 6, 2001 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.
She was the daughter of the late Cecil Mack Fix and Mable Pyle Fix Butler.
She was a postmaster of the U.S. Post Office in New Athens. She was a member of the Ohio Valley Christian Center in Steubenville and the 4393rs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Richard Butler; paternal grandmother, V. Esther Fix Lewis; a brother, Nicky Mack Fix and an uncle Russell Pyle.
Surviving are her husband Ken "Lumpy" Dawson; a son Wayne Dawson; and a daughter Keni-Jo Rebecca Dawson, both of Wintersville; two sisters, Mrs. John (Bennie) Cotton of Bloomingdale and Sherry Fix of Wintersville. A service was March 9.
Florence Miller
Florence Miller, 80, died March 29, 2001 at Trinity West Hospital, Steubenville.
She was born Aug. 15, 1920 in Rayland, W.Va., a daughter of the late Archie Lee and Liza McCuthcheon McLaughlin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Holly Clyde Miller; parents; two brothers, John and James McLaughlin and sister, Frances Kincaid.
Surviving are three sons, Holly L. Miller and wife Barbara of Hopedale, Clyde E. Miller and wife Ruby of Folk and Jerry L. Miller and wife Jeannie of Windham; a brother, Frank McLaughlin of South Carolina; a sister, Lucy Gwin of Virginia; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home, 324 High St. Hopedale Sunday, April 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Wright officiating. Burial follows in Greenwood Cemetery, near Hopedale.
Steven Christopher Vale
Steven Christopher Vale, 48, Steubenville, died March 27, 2001 in Trinity West Hospital, Steubenville.
He was born Aug. 15, 1952 in Jewett, a son of Thelma Norquest of Tippecanoe and Arthur Albert Vale of Texas.
He is a 1970 graduate of Lakeland High School, Freeport. He was a carpenter for Vale Construction Company. He was a Methodist by faith.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two sons, Kristafer Vale of Orlando, Florida, Jason Vale of Sayre, Oklahoma; a daughter, Diana Vale of Carrollton; two brothers, Wayne (Bertha) Vale of Flowermound, Texas and Marc (Diane) Vale of Chelsea, Mich.; three sisters, Kathy Vale of Akron, Nancy Marshall of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Linda Bivens of Tippecanoe; a grandson Morgan Harsh of Carrollton.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Patterson Union Cemetery, Deersville.
Nina M. McKnight
Nina Marie McKnight, 59, New Rumley, died March 23, 2001 in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was born Aug. 12, 1941 in Canton, a daughter of the late Edgar and Ella Rambod Weaver.
A graduate of Canton South High School. She was the former singer for the country band Overland Express.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Linda Chasteen.
Surviving are her husband, Paul McKnight; two sons, Paul Allen and Kevin Ray McKnight both of New Rumley; a daughter, Dawn Renee Maurer of Orrville; three brothers and two sisters, Edgar Weaver of North Industry, Dorothy Welton of Massillon, Julie Collins of Bolivar, Veril Weaver of Tennessee and Jim Weaver of Delaware; six grandchildren.
Service was March 28, 2001 in Koch Funeral Home, Scio. Burial in New Rumley Methodist Cemetery.
Albert T. Swelbar Jr.
Albert T. Swelbar Jr., 72, Cadiz, died March 27, 2001.
He was born March 29, 1928 in West Moreland County, Pa., a son of the late Albert T. (Blackie) Swelbar Sr. and Anna Jane Exton Swelbar.
He was a driller for 22 years with Consolidation Coal Company, Cadiz. He was Protestant by faith. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a former member of the Cadiz American Legion Post #34.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Tarbert Swelbar; a daughter, Jeannine Bullock and husband Brian of New Philadelphia; three brothers, Gaylord Swelbar of Duluth, Minnesota, Darwin Swelbar and wife Wanda of Cadiz, Kenneth Swelbar and wife Karen of Chester, W.Va.; a sister Gloria Davenport of Bloomingdale.
Calling hours are Thursday, March 29, 2001 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main Street, Cadiz. A funeral service will be Friday, March 30, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William Hudson and the Rev. Fr. Thomas Vennitti officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove.

Millicent B. Knight
Millicent B. Knight, 87, Cadiz, formerly of Syracuse, NY died March 24, 2001 at the Carriage Inn of Cadiz.
She was born Oct. 14, 1913 in Walton, MY, a daughter of the late Wade P. Baxter and Gertrude Mills Baxter.
She was former office manager, Park Central Presbyterian Church, Syracuse, NY, former officer manger and member of Onodaga Valley Presbyterian Church, Syracuse, NY, a retired office manager of Presbyterian Synod of the Northeast, Syracuse, NY. She was an Elder and member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz. She was a member of Laubach Literacy Tutor in New York and Ohio; she was an extremely active member of each of her churches.
She was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, Leonard and Delmonte Baxter; an infant brother, Leo Baxter; a sister, Rose Martyn.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Andrew (Jackie) Hutyera of Cadiz; four granddaughters, Holly Hutyera of Syracuse, NY, Anne Douglas of Rocky River, Ohio, Katherine Hutyera of Kent, Ohio and Mary Hutyera of Athens, Ohio; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Douglas.
Calling hours are today, 2-4 and 7-9 at the home of daughter 431 St. Clair Ave., Cadiz. Service will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz, 174 W. Market St., Cadiz with the Rev. William Hudson officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date to be announced at Walton Cemetery, Walton, NY.
