Clyde H. Beaird
Clyde Beaird, 81, Cadiz, died Friday, June 18, at Trinity Medical Center East, Steubenville.
Clyde was born July 6, 1922 in Akron, a son of the late Autra Henry and Gertrude Mae Decker Beaird.
Clyde was a ironworker, a member of F.O.E. #2162, Cadiz and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy J. Thompson Beaird; two sons: Randy Lee and Ronnie Lane Beaird, both of Cadiz; and a daughter, Roxie Lynn Beaird McCoy of Montgomery, Texas; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 22 from 1 p.m. until time of memorial service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.

Betty J. (Wright) Thompson
Betty J. (Wright) Thompson, 73, of Manchester, N.H., died June 12, 2004.
She was born Jan. 20, 1931 in Maynard, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harry Wright and Rachel Jenkins Wright.
Her interests included crocheting and teaching others how to crochet, and she was an avid Red Sox fan. She made the best lemon pie.
She was preceded in death by parents; brothers, David and Robert Wright; grandson, Dwayne Crites; and sister, Leona Wolf.
Surviving are two sons, Earl Conaway Jr. of Alaska, James Conaway of Kansas; two daughters, Wannetta Higgins of Ohio and Donna Conaway of New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Bradley of Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be held June 19, 2004 at noon at Holly Memorial Garden in Colerain.
Delphine E. Freeman
Delphine E. Freeman, 74, Steubenville, died Aug. 3, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, West.
She was born May 1, 1930 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late James H. and Anna M. Robinson Freeman.
She was a retired aide at Lancia Nursing Home and a member of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and six grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Janet M. (Edward) Golsby, Phyllis D. (George) Jackson and Clara E. Freeman; eight sons, James E. (Donna), Edward W. (Vicky), Everett E. Sr., Phillip D., Oliver N., Ross K., Samuel W. and Thomas A. (Kathy) Freeman; 48 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Anthony S. and David R. Freeman.
Service will be held Aug. 7, 2004 at 1 p.m. in the Emmanuel Church of God in Christ with Elder Coyet Jeter. Burial in Fort Steubenville Burial Estates, Wintersville. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Alicia "Alice" Basham
Alicia "Alice" Amelia Costantini Basham, 77, of Scio, died peacefully Tuesday morning Aug. 3, 2004 in her home after an extended illness.
Alicia was born in Steubenville on Sept. 6, 1926 a daughter of the late Rocco and Carmella Santangello Costantini. She was a 1946 graduate from Central Catholic High School in Steubenville.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Jewett and a lifelong honorary member of the Scio Fire Department Auxiliary.
Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Teddy Basham. They had just been honored at a surprise anniversary party given by their children. Also surviving are two daughters and four sons: Anna (John) Mahoney, Marcia (Larry) Manbeck, Thad (Mary) Basham and Ralph (Polly) Basham, all of Scio, and Bill (Judy) Basham of Altus, Okla., and Rolland (Bernie) Basham of North Beach, Md.; 13 grandchildren: Jeremy (Melanie) Basham of Boardman; Jessica and Aloni Mahoney and Trenton, Samantha, Danielle and Maggie Basham, all of Scio; Desiree Manbeck of Louisville; Karen Basham and Stacy (Terry) Gibbs of Philadelphia, Pa.; Eric (Robin) Basham of North Beach, Md.; Jeff and Robbie (Carin) Mahoney of Cincinnati; and Laura (Tommy) Ott of Cadiz; three great-granddaughters: Grace Louise Basham of Boardman, Madison Basham of North Beach, Md., and Ariel Ott of Cadiz; and three great-grandsons: Austin Basham of North Beach, Md., and Owen and Zach Ott of Cadiz.
Preceding her in death was brother Bill Costantini.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Koch Funeral Home, Scio, with Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Helen C. Abercrombie
Helen C. Abercrombie, 82, Cadiz, formerly of Wheeling, W.Va., died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at the Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz.
She was born Sept. 17, 1921 in Joseph Mills, W.Va., a daughter of the late Clyde and Grace Binegar Ash.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Cadiz; a past matron of the West Liberty OES; member of the Wellsburg OES; a member to the Ohio County Homemakers and the AARP; and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband, Samuel Lynn Abercrombie; a daughter, Catherine Ann Abercrombie; a brother, Frederick Ash; three sisters: Ruth Maxwell, Erma Hutton, and Glenda Rusen.
Surviving are a son, James Abercrombie and his wife Linda of Follansbee, W.Va.; a daughter, Lynne Christine Stevens and her husband John of Stafford, Va.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Ash of Palm Desert, Calif.; two sisters: Ruby Pettay and Virginia McFarlan, both of Cadiz; and a special niece, Lavonda New of Cadiz.
Calling hours are Monday, Sept. 13, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Ken Swelbar officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
Lloyd E. Hartley Jr.
Lloyd E. Hartley, Jr., 72, of Sugar Land, Texas, formerly of New Athens and Anaheim, Calif., died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at his home.
He was born June 25, 1932 in Duncanwood, Ohio, a son of the late Lloyd E. and Bessie M. Yates Hartley.
Lloyd earned his masters degree in engineering at the Tri-State University in Angola, Ind., in 1951 and went on to earn his masters degree in business at UCLA in 1982. He was a retired aerospace engineer at North American Aviation and at NASA in Houston. He was a member of the Family Church in Sugar Land and a member of the Sugar Land Lodge 1141, F. & A.M.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Doris Benbow Hartley; two sons, Lloyd Hartley III of California and Timothy Edwin Hartley of Wisconsin; five stepchildren, Carl Johnston, Sharon Bushek, Karen Bagley, John Davis and James Davis, all of Texas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, W. Paul Hartley, Yorba Linda, Calif., Sam Hartley of New Athens, and Joe Hartley of Pataskala; a sister, Louise Derfer of Columbus; and a foster brother, Robert Bishop of East Palestine.
Friends may call Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the New Athens United Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Mehl will officiate. Interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.

Lynne Mitchell
Lynne Mitchell, age 57, of Boca Raton, Fla., went to be with the Lord Wednesday Dec. 1, 2004.
Wife and mother extraordinaire, she battled Multiple Sclerosis for 35 years, with a positive Christian determination that was an inspiration to many. Born in Cadiz, Ohio 8/18/1947, she graduated from Ohio University, taught grade school, and earned a Masters in Education in Remedial Reading. She was married to her high school sweetheart in 1969, and they moved to Florida in 1973 where they started a family and Lynne spoke for the Christians Women's Clubs around Florida.
Lynne is survived by her husband of 35 years, John. Two sons and their wives, Kyle and Dawn Mitchell, Ft Lauderdale, Fla., and Todd and Jaclyn Mitchell, Troy, Ohio. Mother Gladys Dickey Mattern Reppart and sister Patricia Mattern Rice. She was preceded in death by her father Wilbur (Nemo) Mattern, step-father Thomas Alfred Reppart and sister Jacqueline Mattern Risdon.
Interment will be in Cadiz, Ohio, following a service at the Presbyterian Church 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 and a reception will follow the graveside service at the Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of Lynne's Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Boca Raton, 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004. Local arrangements are by Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio.
Lynne's family and friends were active raising funds for the annual MS Walk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ft. Lauderdale MS Society, 3201 West Commercial Blvd. Suite 127, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. 33309, in the name of Lynne Mitchell MS Walk Team.
