Marilyn F. Tucker
Marilyn F. Tucker, 74, Rock Hill, SC, formerly of Scio, died May 31, 2002 in the Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 25, 1928 in Wakefield, Mass., a daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Mae (Crosby) Greel.
She had attended the United Methodist Church of Scio and was a past madam president of the Eagles Auxiliary in Carrollton. She retired in 1980 from the Alliance Mfg. Co. She had lived in Carrollton, Scio and the last eight years in Rock Hill.
She was preceded in death by parents; son William Tucker; sister Nancy Flanders.
Surviving are five sons, Richard Tucker of Carrollton, Thomas Tucker of W. Palm Beach, Fla., Francis Tucker of Guernsey, Ill, David Tucker of Hopedale, and Steven Tucker of York, SC; five daughters, Mrs. George (Linda) Jones of Malvern, Mrs. Ronald (Dorothy) Moran of Rock Hill, Mrs. George (Donna Jean) Ickler of Moundsville, W.Va., Nancy Tucker of York, SC, and Mrs. Jerry (Susan) Wagner-Tucker of York, SC; two brothers, Richard Greel of N. Chelmsford, Mass, and David Greel of Canton; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a special friend Maxine Householder of Scio.
Funeral service will be held June 4, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Allman-Dugger & Hively Funeral Home in Carrollton with the Rev. Sara Hodsden officiating. Burial in Louisville Union Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 today (Monday, June 3) and Eagles auxiliary service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m.

Homer Charles Biggs
Homer Charles Biggs, 83, Unionport, died May 26, 2002 in Akron Hospital, Akron. He was born Oct. 23, 1918 in Chester, Ohio, son of the late Alban and Fanny Decker Biggs.
He retired from Weirton Steel after 33 years of service. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Christian Church of Unionport, the Hopedale American Legion #682, the Amsterdam VFW, the Disabled American Veterans of Chester and the Knights of Phythias. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, belonged to Unionport Masonic Lodge #333, the Scottish Rite of Steubenville, the Wheeling Shrine Club and the Unionport Eastern Star. He was also a member of the United SteelWorkers 25-year club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Vonda Landers.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Markle Biggs of Unionport; two cousins, Nathan Biggs of Pomeroy and Golide Fredrick of Chester.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home, 324 High Street in Hopedale on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Masonic services at 8:30 p.m. Funeral service at 11 a.m. on May 30, 2002 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Hubert Granger officiating. Friends may also call Thursday evening at the Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. May 31 at the funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial in Chester Cemetery.

Thelma M. Bailie
Thelma M. Bailie, 60, Jewett, died May 26, 2002 after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 27, 1941 in Jewett, a daughter of the late Clyde and Ruby Gault Thompson.
She was a factory worker at the Scio Pottery, a certified nurse's aid and a home health care provider.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, and brother Bryan Thompson.
Surviving are her companion Richard (Dick) Harris of Jewett; a daughter Mrs. Bill (Donna) Norton; four sons Larry Wright of Inwood, W. Va., Randy Wright of George (Bo) Bailie and Clyde Bailie all of Jewett; three sisters Mrs. David (Shirley) Waller of St. Clairsville, Mrs. William (Ruth) Yost of Piedmont, Mrs. Glenn (Mildred) Keffer of Dover; three brothers Walter Thompson of Jewett, Myron Thompson of Cadiz, Raymond Thompson of Malvern.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home at East Main Street in Jewett on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with services there on Thursday, May 30, 2002 with the Rev. Hobert Eddy officiating. Burial at the Fairview Cemetery near Jewett.

Nora Kathleen "Kate" Blankenship
Nora Kathleen "Kate" Blankenship, 85, Cadiz, died May 24, 2002 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz.
She was born March 17 1917 in Jewett, a daughter of the late George D. Lucas and Frances Mary Conway Lucas.
She was a retired cook for Willow Restaurant and the former Airport Restaurant and former employee of the former Scio Pottery Company. She was Lutheran.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Camden Blankenship; and a daughter Mary Ann Sowers DiGenova.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne Blankenship of Cadiz and Sam Carrouthers of Breeman, Indiana; three daughters, Linna Poole of Wintersville, Barbara Shannon and Candy Sickle both of Cadiz; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister Marguerite Flowers of Wheeling, W.Va.; special friends Faye Basnett, Cris Stinard and Bree, Delores Ruckman and Ruth Blackburn.
Private service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Ted Davis officiating. Burial at Fairview Cemetery, Jewett.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harrison County Humane Society P.O. Box 404, Cadiz, Ohio 43907.
Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz was in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis J. Arnold
Phyllis J. Arnold, 68, New Athens, died May 26, 2002 at Harrison Community Hospital.
She was born Apr. 26, 1934 in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of Caroline Douglas of New Athens and the late Floyd Douglas.
She was Methodist by faith, a member of the New Athens Fire Department ladies auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her father, and a sister Hilda Kull.
Surviving are her mother; two sons Mark and wife Cathy of New Athens and Douglas of New Athens; a daughter, Zoe Arnold of New Athens; three grandchildren Tessa, Tosha and Vic of New Athens.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2002 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, 555 E. Market Street, Cadiz with service held Wednesday, May 29, at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Mehl officiating. Burial in Longview Cemetery, New Athens.
Memorial contributions may be sent to New Athens Volunteer Fire Department, New Athens, Ohio 43981.

Emily Gray Roche
Emily Gray Roche, 93, Columbus, died April 5, 2002 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born April 10, 1908 in Coshocton and raised in Harrisville and Cadiz.
She attended Western College and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in education in 1932. She taught school at Martins Ferry and Cadiz until retired and moved to Columbus in 1985 and lived in Thurber Village until her death. She was a member of the Ohio Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and Phi Mu.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emily Roche; brother, Dr. William C. Roche and a nephew, Dr. William C. Roche.
Surviving are her sister-in-law, Mrs. W.C. Roche of Gnadenhutten; niece, Cynthia Sue (Glenn) Miller of Columbus and Janet Roche of Houston, Texas; five grandnieces and nephews and 10 great-grandnieces and nephews.
A public graveside service will be held today, April 8, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Olive Branch Cemetery in Harrisville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Broad Street, Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205. Arrangements by Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus.

Roy A. Whitten
Roy W. Whitten, 86, Freeport, died April 5, 2002 in Trinity West Hospital, Steubenville.
He was born Jan. 11, 1916, a son of the late Sanfort and Mary Emma Johnson Whitten.
He was a World War II veteran of the 77th Division and 11th Airborne. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation where he worked in the construction department.
He was preceded in death by his wife Grayce Estella Lynam Whitten; parents; a sister and three brothers.
Surviving are a daughter, Roxie Wetherell and husband John of Mingo Junction; a grandson, John Matthew Wetherell and wife Rhonda of Brilliant; two granddaughters, Lori Ann Ingram and husband John of Brilliant and Amy Jo Browning and husband Kevin of Richmond; a great-grandson, Jacob (Jake) Ingram of Brilliant.
Service will be held today, April 8, 2002 at 1 p.m. in Koch Funeral Home with the Rev. Gloria Bloomquist officiating. Burial in Greenmount Union Cemetery, Freeport.
