A memorial service for Clyde A. Davis, 80, of Newark will be held Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Service Chapel.
Mr. Davis was born Oct. 22, 1922 in Newark to the late Walter A. and Hallie (Wiley) Davis.
Mr. Davis was a retired foreman with the city of Newark.
He is survived by daughter, Lynn Nelson, of Newark; son, Brian Davis, of Newark, and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Harriett (Somer) Davis in 1997; son, Robert Davis; sister, Thelma Wolfe and great-grandson, Jeremy Davis II.
Friends may call at the Criss-Schoedinger chapel on Monday from 5-6 p.m.

James A. May

A funeral service for James A. May, 72, of Heath, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home with the pastor Marc Rucklos officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. May retired after thirty years with the government and was a material inspector at the Newark Air force Station. He passed away Oct. 17, 2003, at the Newark Healthcare Centre in the Heritage Unit. He was born Oct. 5, 1931, in Planktown to the late Carl W. and Ocie M. (Zaebst) May.
Mr. May was a member of the Free Methodist Church, attended the Christian Union Church, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was a Air Force veteran in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Arleta (Fryman) May, of Heath; three sons, Kevin P. (Cindy) May, Kenneth (Heather) May, and Keith May, all of Newark; two daughters, Karen (Tod) Lombardo and Kathy May, both of Heath; one brother, Carl R. May Jr. of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Joseph K. Westlake

Joseph K. Westlake, 40, of Zanesville, died Oct. 18, 2003, after a lengthy illness. A caring cremation will be held and a private family service will follow.
Mr. Westlake was born on Sept. 6, 1963 in Zanesville to James B. "Wally" Westlake and Hazel M. (Gard) Ritchie.
An avid bowler who loved ice skating, Mr. Westlake was an employee of the Bob Evans Co. and was formerly employed by the Ad Corp. of Columbus for 15 years.
Mr. Westlake is survived by his mother and stepfather, Hazel M. (Ronald) Ritche, of Zanesville; father and stepmother, James B. "Wally" (Shirley) Westlake, of Newark; sisters, Jill (Aaron) Riggleman, of Hampton, Va. and Jennie (John) McCutcheon, of Zanesville; brothers, James Benjamin (Denise) Westlake II, of West Jefferson, and Jon M. Westlake, of Zanesville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Angie (Lamp) Moore, of Zanesville.
Mr. Westlake is preceded in death by grandparents, Kenneth and Rhomeyn Westlake and Lee Rome and Jennie Gard.

Kenneth H. Whittle

A funeral service for Kenneth H. Whittle, 72, of Johnstown, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Miller Memorial United Methodist Church, 5241 Miller Church Rd. NW, Johnstown Ohio, with Pastor Calvin Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
Kenneth H. Whittle, 72, of Johnstown, passed away on Oct. 17, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on Feb. 18, 1931 to the late Mary (Mannico) and Howard Whittle.
Ken had served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. A graduate of Wentworth Institute of Boston, Mass., he was employed as a product design engineer for American Standard, Janitrol and Liebert. He also had started Tomken Company sheet metal and steel design before retiring in 1994. He was also a member and trustee of Miller Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Nancy (Blake) Whittle; daughters, Kim (Gene) Brown and Pamela (Eddie) Moore, both of Delaware, Anne (Allan) Thomas, of Woodlawn, Tenn.; son, Thomas Whittle, of Middleburg Heights; four grand-daughters; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and three cousins, Eleanor (Mannico) Mathieson, of Long Beach, Calif. and Ronald Whittle, of Belfast, Maine.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Howard Jr.
Friends may call at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, Johnstown, Ohio on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and one hour before the funeral service.

Reed William 'Junior' Lovell

A graveside service for Reed William "Junior" Lovell, 78, of Centerburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Homer Cemetery, with Pastor Roger Crego officiating.
Mr. Lovell died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the Newark Health Care Centre of Newark. He was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Licking County, to the late Laura Reed and Mary (Freil) Lovell.
Mr. Lovell worked as a farmer, truck driver, and worked in maintenance at Bennington Township.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ellen Lovell, Billie Lovell of Utica, and Carole Orme of Centerburg; sister, Jean Clutter of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four nephews; and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Ann (Freeman) Lovell; his parents; and a sister, Betty Chopson.

Sandra Phyllis Simmons

A service of memory for Sandra Phyllis Simmons, 58, of Heath, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington St., Newark, with Pastor Dr. C.W. Noble officiating.
Mrs. Simmons, a retired teacher from Par Excellence, died Oct. 19, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born on Jan. 26, 1945, in Franklin, N.C., to the late Eldon and Cordia (Coleman) Neal.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nan Simmons of Heath, and Deanna Simmons of Columbus; two grandchildren, Katie and Kellie Jackson, both of Heath; brother, Rusty (Kathleen) Neal of Tempe, Ariz.; one niece; one nephew; two great-nephews; and many aunts and uncles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kimberly Jackson.

Carroll Conard Clements

A funeral service for Carroll Conard Clements, 70, of Harcourt Road, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow the service at Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mr. Clements died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at his home. He was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Mount Vernon, the son of Clifford and Mable (Styers) Clements, and had been a lifetime resident of the community.
Mr. Clements attended Mount Vernon City Schools and had been an employee of McFarland Brothers Trucking in Mount Vernon and Jay Carlley Trucking in Wichita, Kan. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of Amvets Post 95 and of Colonial City Moose Lodge 2555, both in Mount Vernon.
He is survived by a son, Brady Earl (Teresa) Clements of Bangs, Ohio; two daughters, Toni Lee (Morgan) Cline of Gambier, and Carla Rose Emmons of Mount Gilead; four grandchildren, Angela Wild, Cindy Clements, Amber Emmons and Chad Clements; a great-granddaughter, Darrien Kinsman; and his ex-wife, Mildred (Brady) Clements of Mount Vernon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Candy Emmons; two brothers, Earl Clements and Robert Clements; and three sisters, Clara Davis, Ethel Baker and LaVerna Graham.
