Ethel M. Saunders
May 31, 1928-Aug. 1, 2002
A funeral service for Ethel M. Saunders, 74, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Jacks officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Mrs. Saunders, a beauty operator for Denison Hairstyling, died Aug. 1, 2002, in Danville. She was born May 31, 1928, in Newark, to the late Paul and Anna (Davis) Gleckler.
Mrs. Saunders was a poll worker for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Saunders; daughter, Betty (Charles) Taylor of Newark; sons, Bob (Linda) Saunders of Newark, David (Nova) Saunders of Friendswood, Texas, and Dell (Diana) Saunders of Utica; brother, Orie Gleckler of Toboso; sisters, Gladys Small of Frazeysburg, Marsena Bryant of Lynchburg, Va., and Edna Carver of Apopka, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister; and two brothers.

Patricia Ann (Martin) Carpenter
Dec. 13, 1943-July 31, 2002
A memorial service for Patricia Ann (Martin) Carpenter, 58, of Newark, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Chapel, with Bruce Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter, a former member of Woodside Presbyterian Church, died July 31, 2002, at the Morrison House Hospice. She was born Dec. 13, 1943, in Dayton, to the late Alexander C. Martin and Dorothy H. McGrath.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Carpenter) Allender; sister, Penny Simmers; three grandchildren, Julia and Tristan Allender, and Cory Shields; two nieces; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to Homeward Bound Humane Society and Morrison House Hospice of Zanesville.
Margaret B. Albery

A funeral service for Margaret B. Albery, 95, of South Rockwood, Mich., formerly of Pataskala, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kauber-Miller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Calvin Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Pataskala Cemetery.
Mrs. Albery, who moved to South Rockwood, Mich. in 1991, died July 31, 2002, at the Oakwood Southshore Medical Center in Trenton, Mich. She was born Oct. 23, 1906, in New Lexington, to the late Herbert and Marian Brickles.
Mrs. Albery was a former member of the Summit Station United Methodist Church, Wahneta Chapter 235 OES, and the American Legion Auxiliary 135.
She is survived by her son, Harold (Barbara) Albery Jr. of South Rockwood, Mich.; brother, Herbert (Joy) Brickles of Ravenna; grandson, Harold Albery III; and great-grandchild, Matthew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Albery Sr., who died in 1996; and one brother, Joseph.

Nancy A. Swick
June 6, 1952-Aug. 1, 2002
A graveside service for Nancy A. Swick, 50, of Granville, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Newark Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Dr. Steven D. Osborne officiating.
Mrs. Swick, who was an administrative assistant at Quick and Reilly in Columbus, died Aug. 1, 2002, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born June 6, 1952, in Newark, to Emma Jean (Meckling) Patterson of Granville, and the late Jonathan Griffith.
Mrs. Swick was a 1971 graduate of Granville High School.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Keenan M. Swick; daughters and sons-in-law, Kenya and Joe Fifield and Shawn and Jason Brookbank, all of Newark; four grandchildren, Arian Fifield, Abbi Jo Fifield, Evan Brookbank and Ryan Brookbank; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Lyn Griffith of Worthington; sister and brother-in-law, Sherrie and Dan Kimball of Pataskala; and several niece and nephews.

Aubrey L. Bartee
Sept. 29, 1935-Aug. 2, 2002
A funeral service for Aubrey L. Bartee, 66, of Delaware and Eclectic, Ala., will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home in Delaware with the Rev. Ron Hock officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery where the Delaware County Veterans Association will conduct full military honors.
Mr. Bartee, who was a two-year resident of Delaware and also maintained a residence in Eclectic, Ala., died Aug. 2, 2002 in Delaware. He was born Sept. 29, 1935, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Marshall Louis and Mary Ellis Sellers Bartee Sr.
Mr. Bartee was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. As a master sergeant, he retired after 28 years and 28 days of service.
He attended the University of Arizona and worked for the Civil Service Commission and was a vocational instructor for the HBI. He was a member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Shoreline Park Association in Alabama. He was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; daughters, Donna Lou (James) McClellan of Montgomery, Ala., Cheryl Lee (Donald) Ward of Delaware and Ellen Lisa (Al) Cathey of Grove City; grandchildren, Jeremy McClellan, Jenny (Heath) Christian, Brian (Nicole) Hays, Michael (Ruth) Akers, Amanda (Tim) Lilly, Lauren Cathey and Chelsie Cathey; great-grandchildren, Dustin, Zachary, Heath Christian and Michael Allen Akers; brother, Edward Bartee of Alabama; and sister, Mattie Lou Bartee of California.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Bartee; and brothers, Marshall Louis Bartee Jr., John, Charles Sellers, Richard and Luther Eugene.

Gail Jay Wolfe

A funeral service for Gail Jay Wolfe, 75, of Newark, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston with the Dr. Bruce Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wolfe, who was the owner of Dry Creek Gravel Co., died Aug. 2, 2002, at Heath Nursing Care Center. He was born May 24, 1927, in Newark to the late Parker and Hazel (Athey) Wolfe.
Mr. Wolfe was a 1945 graduate of Newark High School and a 1950 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he was a life member of The Ohio State University Association and a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He was recognized as a Gold Circle member for his 50 years of membership in the fraternity. He served as Province XXIII Chief in 1974 until he became national treasurer of the fraternity for 12 years. He was awarded the WGKE Worthy Grand Chief Award and later became a national officer emeritus.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He also served in the Reserve Corps as a first lieutenant.
He was a 52-year member of the Second Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon, trustee and elder. He was a charter member of Moundbuilders Kiwanis, Newark Rotary Club, Newark Manennerchor, ACME Lodge No. 554 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and the Aladdin Temple. He was also a member of SCORE and Buckeye Packards Inc., and a former member of Moundbuilders Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Anita (Smith) Wolfe; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Debbie and Bob Sebetic of Rochester Hills, Mich.; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Cindy Wolfe of Newark; grandchildren Jessica Wolfe, Jennifer Wolfe, Michelle Wolfe, Katarina Sebetic and Yuri Sebetic; step-grandchildren, Matt Sebetic, Rachel Sebetic and Leah Sebetic; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bette and Arthur Schulz of Newark, and Margaret Lee and John Naddy III of Spokane, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

James T. "Jim" Smith

A funeral service for James T. "Jim" Smith, 61, of Pataskala, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Kauber-Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. William VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow in Pataskala Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Aug. 1, 2002, at St. Ann's Hospital in Columbus. He was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Welch. W.Va., to his late parents.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalind L. "Rose" Smith; children, Gary Kennedy of Powell, Peggy (Larry) Smith of Delaware, Chris Kennedy of Coshocton, Becky Smith of Columbus and James T. Smith Jr. of Newark; sisters, Evelyn Sparks of Conway, S.C., Joyce (Herman) Sparks of Newport News, Va., and Flossie Morgan of Superior, W.Va.; brothers, Charles Smith and John Smith, both of California, and William Smith of Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
