A funeral service for Donald Eugene Gutridge, 71, Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Newark, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the West Valley Chapel of Best Funeral Service, 9380 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria, Ariz. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, Ariz.
Mr. Gutridge passed away Nov. 21, 2003.
He was born in Newark on Aug. 19, 1932, and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his service, he was an engineer who worked on flight simulators for the U.S. Air Force.
His passions were hunting, camping and fishing for bass and walleye.
Mr. Gutridge is survived by Racheal, his wife of 47 years; two sons and daughter-in-law, Rick Gutridge and Bill and Velvet Gutridge; daughters and son-in-law, Robin and Al Swansiger and Kellie Gutridge; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Patti Gutridge; sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Lafyatis and Judy and Lanny Chesser; and grandchildren Christopher, Daniel, Piper, Bethany Kate, Jacob and Racheal.
Edgar Lavelle "Bud" Angus
Feb. 3, 1945- Nov. 27, 2003
A funeral service for Edgar Lavelle "Bud" Angus, 58, will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Angus died Nov. 27, 2003, at the Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. He was born Feb. 3, 1945 in Columbus to the late Everett and Violet (Swesey) Angus.
Mr. Angus worked as an iron worker, was a member of the N.R.A., and was a member of the Greater Cincinnati Gyro Copter Club.
He is survived by his wife, Diana (Gray) Angus of Newark; daughters, Angela Phillips of Newark, Jada (Jeffrey) Paczan of Reynoldsburg, Tara (Steven) Warren of Raeford, N.C., and Amber Angus and friend Steve Kennedy of San Francisco, Calif.; son, Scot (Peggy) Angus of Newark; grandchildren Kehley,Shelby, Garrett, Abby, Kaycee, Stevie, Seth, and baby Scot; brothers, Richard (Jerry) Angus, of Conway, S.C., Gilbert (Betty) Angus of Andrews, S.C., Danny and Dale (Rita) Angus of Newark, and Rodney(Sherry) Angus also of Newark; sisters, Ann (Ed)Schultz of Indianapolis, Ind., Jeanette (Rudy) French of Newark, Thelma (Bob) Tinon of Utica, Sue Decker of St.Louisville, Jenny McConnell of Utica, Donna Oney of Newark, and Connie (Marty) Decker of Hebron; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Angus was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Everett, and a grandson, Anthony.
Calling hours will be held today between 2 and 4 p.m. and 6 and 8 p.m. at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home 985 N. 21st Street, Newark.
Edward James Pike
Jan. 22, 1946 - Nov. 28, 2003
A funeral service for Edward James Pike, 57, of Dayton, formerly of Newark and Grand Rapids, Mich., will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at the Vineyard of Licking County Church, 7602 Steward Road, Newark, with Pastor Steven D. Osborne officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton.
Mr. Pike died Nov. 28, 2003 at the Dayton V.A. Hospital. He was born on Jan. 22, 1946 in Grand Rapids, Mich. and his parents, Ruth and Robert Simot, survive in Coopersville, Mich.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pike is survived by his bothers and sisters and their spouses, Alan and Karen Pike of South Windsor, Conn., Robert Leedy of Battle Creek, Mich., Earl and Mary Simot, Karen Gereaux, Pam and Joe Giroux, Mary and Eugene Williams, Janet Simot and Joyce and John Brecken, all of Coopersville, Mich.; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends from church.
Mr. Pike was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Vineyard of Licking County Church. He was a strong, faithful and kind Christian man who has gone to be with his Lord. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service.

Dolly Lucille (Curtis) Snook

A funeral service for Dolly Lucille (Curtis) Snook, 86, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cotner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
Mrs. Snook was born July 25, 1917, and passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank F. Curtis; mother, Emma A. (Hammons) Curtis; sisters, Treva M. Dixon and Dorothy Curtis; and brothers, Auguest F. and Wilbur Curtis.
She is survived by her husband, Earl B. Snook of Thornville; son, Charles W. Snook of Thornville; daughter, Katrina S. Snook; sister, Tessie M. Boysel of Delaware; stepsister, Flossie George; stepbrother, Marvin Curtis; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
Mrs. Snook was active in the Hocking Valley Steam and Antique Power Club, Steam Club, Flying Club EAA Chapter 402, 433, and WACO Flying Club. She was also a volunteer at Sun 'n Fun Fly-In, Lakeland, Fla., Commercial Security and Koop Group.

James R. Ruton

James R. Ruton, 73, of Newark, died Nov. 30, 2003, at his residence. He was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Newark, to the late Gilbert and Margaret (Varner) Ruton. He retired from Goodwill Industries as a supervisor.

Surviving are his daughters, Peggy Ruton of Newark, Lorrie Ruton-Moore of New Hampshire, and Mary Garrity of Colorado; stepdaughters, Mildred Kaye Snyder of St. Louisville, and Celia Hayes of Newark; stepsons, Harry Hayes of Nevada, and Arthur Thomas Hayes of Newark; sister, Mary Lou Debevoise of Newark; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and dogs, Sam and Suli.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Janet Ruton.

Frances L. (Phillips) Bulen

A funeral service for Frances L. Bulen, 84, of Pataskala, formerly of Brice, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, with the Rev. Willie Holley officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
Frances died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at her residence. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Old Timers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Bulen.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (James) Moore of Pataskala; grandchildren, Matthew (Stacy), Marcus (fiancé Raquel), Lucas (Andrea), and Jonathan Moore; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Ethan Moore; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Thomas Dale Smart, 65, of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service, with the Rev Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brownsville.
Mr. Smart, who retired from Owens Corning, died Nov. 30, 2003, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1938, in Brownsville, to the late Thomas L. and Leah Ruth (Wiseman) Smart .
Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Stuart Mickey of Mount Vernon, and Mary and Dan Reneau of Wilson, N.C.; close special friend, Gerlene Stewart of Newark; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Ferley Powers of Amsterdam, David Powers of Newark, and Roy and Sharon Smart of Zanesville; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Garold Edgington of Amanda; brother-in-law, James Wilson of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Brittany Mickey and Brian Reneau.

A funeral service for Gladys E. "Happy" Hendricks, 77, of Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Heath Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Hendricks, who retired from Newark Air Force Base in 1988, died Nov. 30, 2003, at the Heath Nursing Care Center. She was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Zanesville, to the late Leo E. and Bernice H. (Tipton) Bash.
She was a member of AFGE Local 2221 -- Newark Air Force Base, NARFE, and area captain for TOPS club in Corp.- OH 1804 in Heath.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Donna (James) Elliott of Heath; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Marlene Bash of Roseville, Frank and Suzie Bash of Roseville, and Harold Bash and Linda McMullen of Zanesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and John Sowers of Roseville, Vashti Abella of Roseville, Sylvia and Chancie Wisecarver of Zanesville, Bernice and Kenneth Hayes of Zanesville, Marketta and Clifford Thomas of Zanesville, and Belinda and Nicky Baker of Newark; grandson, Darrin J.
