Olen Jacks Sr.

A funeral service for Olen Jacks Sr., 76, of Upper Sandusky, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Apostolic Church in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Greg Hord officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Mr. Jacks, who enjoyed fishing, traveling and working around the house, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, in the Emergency Room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky. He was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Megs County, to the late Esel E. and Verna (Caldwell) Jacks.
Mr. Jacks was a carpenter having worked for Weakley's Manufacturing in Newark and the last 20 years he worked maintenance for National Church Homes and the United Church Homes doing maintenance for Riddlehaven in Upper Sandusky.
Mr. Jacks was a member of Apostolic Gospel Church in Upper Sandusky, where he served as an elder and also provided carpentry skills for the church. He was a life long member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Edna (Groce) Jacks, whom he married on June 28, 1948, in Greenup, Ky.; three sons, Esel (Lois) Jacks Jr. of Newark, Walter Jacks of Marion, and Clyde (Shirley) Jacks of Jacksontown; two daughters, Juanita McCort of Newark, and Mrs. Phil (Glendora) Lord of Mount Vernon; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Rev. Robert (Mary) Jacks of Newark, Rev. Donald (Imogene) Jacks of Dayton, Rev. Ralph (Etta) Jacks of Trenton, Fla., and Malcolm (Barbara) Jacks of Granville; and two sisters, Mr. Fred (Audrey) Phiel of Eau Claire, Wis., and Rev. Gene (Pauline) Waters of Newark.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; and two sisters.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the church.

Nedra D. Brown
Sept. 28, 1970-Dec. 15, 2003
A celebration of life service for Nedra D. Brown, 33, of Newark, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington St., with the Rev. Dr. Charles W. Noble Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brown died on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, from injuries in an auto accident. She was born in Akron on Sept. 28, 1970, to James and Neoma (Williams) Lucas.
She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess; helped with Awana Youth Group, and also was a Guild Girl Counselor, Youth Board Member. She was also a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, helped with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and was a YMCA fitness instructor.
Nedra was a teacher at Beery Middle School in Columbus where she taught sixth, seventh and eighth grade and was also the girls basketball coach, girls volleyball coach and girls track coach.
Survivors include one son, Aaron Brown Jr.; one daughter, Nicole Denise Lucas; parents; grandson, Nyelle Lucas; brother and sister-in-law, James and Kimberly Lucas of Akron; maternal grandmother, Thelma Williams; paternal grandmother, Alberta Lucas; aunts and uncles, Mary (James) Bronner of Akron, Lonnie (Lynda) Williams of Stow, Bettie (Loren) Johnson of Copley, Francine (Ron) Spain, Leroy (Sandra) Williams, Jerry Williams, Barbara (Archie) Lucas Jr. and Yvonne (Charles) Shoates, all of Akron; numerous special cousins, including Kimmie Kleps and Mike Williams; nieces, Kalen Lucas and Kacy Lucas, both of Akron; and special friends, Shelly Noble-Bass and Lamont Scriber.
Her husband, Aaron Brown, also died in the automobile accident.

Dorothy L. (Wilkin) Franks

A funeral service for Dorothy L. (Wilkin) Franks, 95, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Paul H. Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Franks, a homemaker, passed away Dec. 15, 2003, at her residence. She was born July 18, 1908, in Newark, to the late Frank and Ida (Swisher) Wilkin.
Dorothy, a life-long resident of Franklin Township, was a former cosmetologist and worked in the dairy industry for more than 30 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, former member of St. John's Missionary Society and Local Garden Club.
She is survived by her two sons, Walter E. (Sally) Franks Jr., and Gerald (Shirley) Franks, both of Newark; 11 grandchildren, Tom (Brenda) Franks of Heath, Sherry (Robert) Hargrove, Mark (Lois) Romine, Scott (Kim) Romine, Jan (Jill) Romine, Rex (Jeanette) Romine, Gary (Donna) Romine, Bart (Holly) Romine, all of Newark, Diana Franks of Omaha, Nev., Tammy (Scott) Prior of Hilliard, and Rory (Deena) Franks of Ravenna; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Franks Sr.; daughter, Shirley S. Romine; brothers, Paul and George Wilkin; and sisters, Doris Hathaway and Ethel Marie Wilkin.

Chris A. DiBlasio

A Mass of Christian Burial for Chris A. DiBlasio, 83, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Penhallurick officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Chris died on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born in Newark on Sept. 12, 1920, to the late Michele C. and Angela M. (Favo) DiBlasio.
Chris was a United States Army World War II veteran, stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He worked in maintenance for State Farm Insurance for 40 years. Prior to that, Chris worked at Newark Hospital maintenance for 20 years.
Chris was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, and the Sons of Italy Rinascimento Lodge.
Chris is survived by his son, Mark DiBlasio of Newark; daughter, Marie A. Booth of Newark; grandson, Matthew; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Millie DiBlasio and Mike and Louise DiBlasio, all of Newark; four sisters, Mary Jane O'Neal, Frances DiBlasio, Theresa DiBlasio and Sarah DiBlasio, all of Newark; and many nieces and nephews. In addition, Chris is survived by family friends, Rose, Troy and Traci Crouch, and his extended family and friends at State Farm Insurance.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by two brothers and sister-in-law, Albert and Louella DiBlasio, and Nick DiBlasio; and brother-in-law, Paul O'Neal.

Gerald Benton Balser

A funeral service for Gerald Benton Balser will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 23 at the Newark Chapel of Henderson Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service. A private burial will follow. Arrangements are being handled by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Greenridge Road Chapel, North Charleston, SC.
Mr. Balser, widower of Lorraine Ankrum Balser, was born March 5, 1916, in Crooked Fork, W.Va., son of Jacob Benton and Mary Ellen Skinner Balser.
Mr. Balser attended Northside Baptist Church. He was a retired school teacher and dairy farmer in Ohio.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis G. Balser and Marilyn Balser of Columbus; five daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Stevens and Rev. John Stevens of Hanahan, S.C., Christina Balsano and Greg Balsano of Riverside, Calif., Deanna Baldwin and James Baldwin of Riverside, Calif., Linda Barber and Rev. Brian Barber of Santa Maria, Calif., and Lena Dueck and Rev. Wayne Dueck of Santa Maria, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Sylvia Irene Cameron

A graveside service for Sylvia Irene Cameron, 88, of Thornville, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
Mrs. Cameron passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Rosewood Manor Nursing Center in Galion. She was born March 5, 1915, in Lawrence County, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hurston Cameron; mother and father, Charles and Ida (McDowell) Miller; brothers, Roy and Charles Miller; sister, Pauline King; and nine half-brothers and sisters.
She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Minford.
Survivors are her son, Cecil Glay (Clorene) Cameron of Galion; daughter, Lillian (Alan) Young of Thornville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; brother, William Gerald Miller of Tampa, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family is being assisted by the Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home of Thornville.
Dr. Roy R. Rhinebarger, DVM
July 25, 1918-Dec. 14, 2003
A funeral service for Dr. Roy R. Rhinebarger, 85, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Rader officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens, where the Licking County Veterans Alliance will conduct military graveside honors.
Dr. Rhinebarger passed away Dec. 14, 2003, at the Newark Health Care Centre. He was born July 25, 1918, in Columbus, to the late A.E and Bertha F. (Michel) Rhinebarger.
Dr. Rhinebarger graduated from high school at age 16 and began attending college. He became a 1941 graduate of The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine, and went on to practice veterinary medicine for 48 years.
Dr. Rhinebarger served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic and was discharged as a captain in the Veterinary Corps. He was a member of the Alpha PSI Fraternity, Teheran Grotto, a 32nd Degree Mason, life member of the Elks Lodge, member of the American Legion, life member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association, member of the Licking County Veterinary Medicine Association, and a member of American Veterinary Medicine Association.
Dr. Rhinebarger will always be remembered for his love for animals and enjoyment in gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gloria (Linn) Rhinebarger of Newark; son, Dr. Rick R. (Carolyn) Rhinebarger of Cary, N.C.; daughter, Linda (Dale) Bowen of Reynoldsburg; and grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Rhinebarger.
Dr. Rhinebarger is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister.

Aaron G. Brown

Mr. Brown died on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, from injuries of an auto accident in Mount Vernon. He was born in Arcadia, Calif., on Nov. 11, 1971, to Gerald Brown of Apple Valley, Calif., and Jennifer (Ball) Biggers of Coshocton.
Mr. Brown worked for the Mental Health Association in Newark. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was in charge of Awana Youth program at the church. He was also an active big brother for Big Brother and Big Sisters.
Aaron enjoyed life and helping others but most of all he loved his family and serving the Lord. He was also an avid L.A. Lakers fan and played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Survivors include one son, Aaron Brown Jr.; one daughter, Nicole Denise Lucas; mother and step father, Jennifer and Cliff Biggers of Coshocton; grandmother, Mamie L. Biggers of California; grandson, Nyelle Lucas-Jack; brother, Nolan A. Biggers of Columbus; sisters, Najah O. (Blake) Watts and Denae Biggers, both of Coshocton, and Tamara Biggers of California; aunts and uncles, Clyde and Phyllis Burch of Tampa, Fla., Barry and Shirley Ball of Long Mont, Colo., Curtis Biggers, Jesse (Paula) Biggers, Leon Biggers, Andrew Biggers, Donald Brown, Harvey Brown, Larry Brown and Richard Brown, all of California, and William Biggers of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; close cousin, Corey (Keisha) Burch of Tampa, Fla.; and special friend, Michael Rice.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents. Aaron's wife, Nedra (Lucas) Brown, also died in the automobile accident.
