Betty Jane Baldwin

A celebration of life service for Betty Jane Baldwin, 69, of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, Hebron Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Bartlette officiating. Burial will follow at Barnes Cemetery, Wilkins Corner.
Betty died in her home on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 3, 1934, and was preceded in death by her mother, Grace E. Baldwin, who passed away in 1983; and her pet "Jetta."
She worked for 47 years for State Farm Insurance Company, where she retired in June of 2003 as administrative coordinator in Agency Resources. She was very active in International Training in Communication (I.T.C.), where she had held every office at club level and some offices at council level.
Betty was an avid collector of plates and various other collectibles. She loved antiques, music and purchasing from the Home Shopping Network on T.V. She loved children and dogs and was Godmother to David and Matthew Roshon (1 1/2 year old twins) and 8 year old Aaron M. Finklea.
She is survived by her special friend and pet, "Shadow," plus many friends in her community, Tess Marte and her family, Jennifer Masur, who were like family and neighbors and those others she considered "family" at State Farm.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Elizabeth Gossett, 66, of Newark, who died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Eleanor Frances Schluep

A funeral service for Eleanor Frances Schluep, 89, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, with Pastor William Rauch officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Schluep was born Dec. 22, 1913. She passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Arlington Health Care Center in Newark.
She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, a former member of Christ the King Church, Christian Assembly and St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
Eleanor was a devoted volunteer for more than 25 years at Northland Terrace and Lutheran Senior City and a foster parent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, Henry and Nannie Ohde; three brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her son, Richard Gary (Joan) Schluep; daughter, Julianne (Michael) Ingram; grandchildren, Christopher Ingram, Kristin (Rob) Draye, David (Kathy) Schluep and Carina Wilt; great-grandchildren, McKenna, Dannica and Alayah; sister, Evelyn (Paul) Breitfeller; and numerous nieces, nephews and special "daughter" Kay Franks.

Edith Hicks Danford
April 26, 1910-Nov. 24, 2003
A memorial service for Edith Hicks Danford, formerly of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 67 N. Fifth St., Newark.
Edith's death at the Bedford Elderly Care Center in Temperance, Mich., on Nov. 24, 2003, was followed by a graveside service at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark.
She was born on April 26, 1910. She was a resident of Wheeling, W.Va., for the first 60 years of her life. A graduate of Muskingum College and New York University, she taught school for 37 years, most of which were at Wheeling High School.
She was active in Stone Presbyterian Church, and was recognized on several occasions for outstanding community service to those in need.
In 1970, Edith married C. Myron Danford, who was the pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Newark. Following Pastor Danford's retirement, he and Edith served as volunteer missionaries with the Lutheran Church in Singapore from 1977-1987. During her years in Newark, she was an active participant in the life of the congregation at St. Paul's. In 1995, Edith moved to Toledo to the home of one of her stepdaughters.
She is survived by four stepdaughters, Nancy (Al) Swingle of Toledo, Alice (Allen) Butte of Unionville, Conn., Phoebe (Dave) Larson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and and Lois (Norm) Kruckenberg of Chillicothe; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by one nephew; five nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Myron Danford; a brother; and two sisters.

Kenneth R. Brant
Nov. 26, 1926-Dec. 16, 2003
A funeral service for Kenneth R. Brant, 77, of Newark, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, where the Licking County Veterans Alliance will conduct military graveside honors.
Mr. Brant passed away Dec. 16, 2003, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. He was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Tanawanda, N.Y., to the late Herman and Amy (James) Brant.
Kenneth was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the Army, Kenneth became an executive chef for the Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, N.Y.
Mr. Brant attended the Newark Brethren Church, was a member of the Buckeye Lake Amvets, member of the Newark Eagles, and lifetime member and former commander of the V.F.W in Lancaster, N.Y.
Kenneth is survived by his son, Daniel (Linda) Brant of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Marcy (Sam) Bowser of Newark, Jane (Ross) Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Loraine (Al) Gross of Gillette, Wyo.; brother, Donald (Loraine) Brant of Buffalo, N.Y.; special friend, Shirlene Bowser of Newark; first wife, Donna Brant of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brant is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Hubert Brant, Les Brant, Herman Brant Jr. and James Brant; one sister, Verla Verhague; and Patricia Brant.

Christian Anthony DiBlasio

A Mass of Christian Burial for Chris A. DiBlasio, 83, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Penhallurick officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Chris died on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born in Newark on Sept. 12, 1920, to the late Michele C. and Angela M. (Favo) DiBlasio.
Chris was a United States Army World War II veteran, stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He worked in maintenance for State Farm Insurance for 40 years. Prior to that, Chris worked at Newark Hospital maintenance for 20 years.
Chris was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, and the Sons of Italy Rinascimento Lodge.
Chris is survived by his son, Mark DiBlasio of Newark; daughter, Marie A. Booth of Newark; grandson, Matthew; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Millie DiBlasio and Mike and Louise DiBlasio, all of Heath; four sisters, Mary Jane O'Neal, Frances DiBlasio, Theresa DiBlasio and Sarah DiBlasio, all of Newark; and many nieces and nephews. In addition, Chris is survived by family friends, Rose, Troy, and Traci Crouch, and his extended family and friends at State Farm Insurance.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by two brothers and sister-in-law, Albert and Louella DiBlasio, and Nick DiBlasio; and brother-in-law, Paul O'Neal.

Elizabeth "Betty" A. Gossett

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth "Betty" A. Gossett, 66, of Pataskala, and formerly of Heath, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Leonard Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Reis officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pataskala.
Ms. Gossett died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 12, 1937, in Long Island, N.Y., to the late John and Margarite (Kelly) Armet.
Betty, a member of St. Leonard Catholic Church, worked as an accounting technician for Defense Finance & Accounting.
Betty is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Teresa Gossett of Rock Hill, S.C., Robert and Tonya Gossett of Newark, and Kevin and Kristy Gossett of Newark; her daughters and son-in-law, Kathy Profitt of Blacklick, Elizabeth and Monty Elliott of Heath, and Ann-Margaret White of Heath; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Adam, Christopher, Trevor, Abbie, Morgan and Christian; her brothers and sister-in-law, Jack and Ann Armet of Charlotte, N.C., and Thomas and Pat Armet of Cambridge, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.

Thomas E. Heller

A funeral service for Thomas E. Heller, 78, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Heller passed away Dec. 18, 2003 at his residence. He was born Feb. 13, 1925 in Reading, Pa. to the late Russell George and Anna L. (Gray) Heller.
Mr. Heller was retired from the Federal Civil Service (Air Force) in 1980 as a computer operations chief. He was a member of the VFW Post 23 of Lebanon, Pa., American Legion Post 559 of Annville, P.A., and the DAV Post 23 of Newark. He was a Marine Veteran in the Korean Conflict during 1942-1946 and 1950-1952.
He is survived by his two sisters, Barbara ( Frank ) White and Nancy (James) Skeens both of Lebanon, Pa.
He is preceded in death by his parents and special Companion Florence Smith.

A funeral service for Ruby M. (Bowman) Sarbaugh, 81, of Granville, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta and Johnston Funeral Service with the Rev. Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Mrs. Sarbaugh died Dec. 18, 2003, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was a member of Plymouth United Church of Christ, and Owens Corning retiree's club. She was born Jan. 3, 1922, in East Liverpool to the late William H. Swank and Mollie E. (Curtis) Swank.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Patty Bowman of Granville; daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Jim Richey of Newark, and Roddy and Larry Hannum of Heath; seven grandchildren, Jayson and Jill Richey, Suzie Wallace, Larry Jr. and Jill Hannum, Troy and Stephanie Hannum, Wendy Hamm, Lisa and Matthew Good, and Jennifer Bowman; seven great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Don Griffith of Granville; and sister, Dora Crispen of Westerville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph E. Bowman, who died in 1982; second husband, John Sarbaugh, who died in 1991; and three brothers.
