A memorial service for Virginia J. Van Meter, 88, of Lancaster, will be held at a later date at Grand Prairie Cemetery, near Marion.
Mrs. Van Meter died Aug. 2, 2002, in Lancaster.
She is survived by a son, Gene (Joyce) Van Meter of Texas; two daughters, Joan Marciel of California, and Judy (Dwight) Gregory of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wilbur Van Meter.

Elizabeth D. Doughten
April 20, 1920-Aug. 4, 2002
A funeral service for Elizabeth D. Doughten, 92, of Johnstown, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Davis Illingworth officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Doughten, a retired teacher from Johnstown-Monroe School District, died Aug. 4, 2002, at her home. She was born April 20, 1910, in Johnstown, to the late Thomas and Pearl (Needels) Duckworth.
Mrs. Doughten was a 1927 graduate of Johnstown High School. She also graduated from Ohio University. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Johnstown Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Doughten; daughter, Jeanne (Stephen) Voigt of Johnstown; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Abigail Voigt, both of Johnstown.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown.
Rev. Orville "Jack" Farmer
Aug. 10, 1915-Aug. 4, 2002
A funeral service for the Rev. Orville "Jack" Francis Farmer, 86, of Sugar Grove, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bremen United Methodist Church, 205 Walnut St., Bremen, with Pastor Debbie Nance and the Rev. Nancy Raypholtz officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Bremen.
Rev. Farmer, a 1935 graduate of Lancaster High School, died Aug. 4, 2002, at his residence. He was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Lancaster, to the late Elijah and Lola (Hayes) Farmer.
Rev. Farmer served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a retired minister of the West Ohio Conve of UMC, having served in Licking, Muskingum, Ross, Jackson, Hocking, Fairfield and Morgan counties.
Rev. Farmer was a member of the Bremen Senior Citizens and Olivedale Senior Citizens in Lancaster, Rushcreek Grange and the Masonic Lodge in Bremen.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Edna Frances (Wiseman) Farmer; son, Thomas W. Farmer of Lancaster; niece, Wanda Spicer of New Lexington; and nephews, Kenneth Allen of Logan, and Lewis Allen of New Lexington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Frances Ann, in 1967; brothers, Clarence and Elmer Farmer; sister, Gertrude Allen; and half-brother, Robert Fairchild.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Snyder-Sheridan Funeral Home, 124 Fort St., Bremen, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the church.

Elizabeth "Ann" Acord

A funeral service for Elizabeth "Ann" Acord, 58, of Thornville, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Wesley Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
Mrs. Acord, a retired bus driver from Lakewood School District, died Aug. 5, 2002, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born May 13, 1944, in Reno, Nev., to Betty Bickle Roach of Newark, and the late Robert L. Pratt.
Mrs. Acord graduated from Newark High School in 1962. She was a member of Woodside Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Ronald S. Acord; daughters, Kelly (Bob) Jones of Glenford, and Cynthia (Mike) Acord of Buckeye Lake; son, Ronald E. (Michelle) Acord of Newark; grandchildren, Tashia and Ryan; sister, Sandy (John) Brenner of Midland, Mich.; and nephew, Mike Brenner of Columbus.

William L. Hood

A funeral service for William L. Hood, 51, of Danville, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Fischer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary Weller officiating. Burial will follow in Riley Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Hood, a retired employee of American National Can in Mount Vernon, died Aug. 5, 2002, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Mount Vernon, to William G. and Betty L. (Moreland) Hood of Danville.
Mr. Hood was a member of the Riley Chapel Baptist Church and a former member of the Danville Emergency Squad and Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Darlene (Owens) Hood, whom he married on Oct. 31, 1976; two daughters, Julie and Rhonda Hood of Danville; two sons, Eric and Jason Hood of Danville; brother, Greg (Sandy) Hood of Danville; nephews, Adam and Joshua Hood; and special friends, Amanda Mizer and Jeremy Brown of Danville, and Jennifer Dewalt of Gambier.

Mrs. Foisset died July 31, 2002, in Tucson, Ariz. She was born April 16, 1916, in Olympia, W.Va., to the late Sam and Emma (Roberts) Ferree.

Dorothy E. Levingston

A funeral service for Dorothy E. Levingston, 70, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Levingston, a homemaker who enjoyed making ceramics, died Aug. 6, 2002, at her residence. She was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Nashport, to the late Francis Allen and Blanche (Lapp) Strohacker.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Frank Levingston; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny (Terrie) Levingston of Newnan, Ga., and Richard W. (Brenda) Levingston of Newark; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Gary Baughman of Newark; seven grandchildren, Rodney (Mickey), Ronda, Teresa (Allen), Lisa (Chris), Cheyenne, Troy, and Chad; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Marjorie) Strohacker of Newark, and Thurman (Theora) Strohacker of Spartansburg, S.C.; sister, Thelma Woods of Newark; and two sisters-in-law, Delores Strohacker and Joan Strohacker of Newark.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Paul Strohacker.

Ellis A. "Buck" Murphy

A graveside service for Ellis A. "Buck" Murphy, 80, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be observed.
Mr. Murphy, a member of the Marine Corp. League, died July 24, 2002, in Spokane, Wash. He was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Barnesville, Ohio, to the late John M. and Opal (Steen) Murphy.
Mr. Murphy served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from Modern Welding in 1987.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, James and Vicki Murphy of Naples, Fla., and Joseph and Jackie Murphy of Springfield, Ill.; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bill Whittemore of Carman, Ill., and Ruth and David Schaffner of Spokane, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Hobart "Bo" and Linda Murphy of Woodburn, Ind.; sisters, Geneva Hoops of Goshen, Ind., Becky Goldsmith of Newark, and Marlene Davy of Zanesville; brother-in-law, Verl Goldsmith of Dade City, Fla.; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Bob and Doris Jeffers of Newark; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne (Jeffers) Murphy, in 1987; one brother; and two sisters.
