A funeral service for Alice Robinett, of Pataskala, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Kauber-Miller Funeral Home, Pataskala, with Pastor Robert Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Pataskala Cemetery.
Mrs. Robinett passed away Jan. 8, 2004, at Mount Carmel East Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late William and Charlotte Morrison Taylor, in Thornport, Ohio.
Alice is survived by husband, Lawrence Robinett; two daughters, Diane (Jeff) Feil and Judy (Dale) Toney; two sons, Donald and Ronald Robinett; nine grandchildren, Allison (Fred) Davis, Anthony Di Cenzo, Eddie (Samantha) Feil, Justin Feil, Amber (Refiloe) Lethunya, Jonathan, Ross, Jason, and Zachery Robinett; four great grandchildren, Brie, Audri, Emma and Heali; one brother, Harold (Roxie) Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Brian Toney, two brothers and two sisters.

Mildred K. Ruton

A funeral service for Mildred K. Ruton, 97, of Hebron, will be 6 p.m. today in the chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, Newark, with Rev. Robert Knox officiating.
Mrs. Ruton died Jan. 9, 2004, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. She was born Nov. 2, 1906, in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
Mrs. Ruton was a member of the International Society of Poets (ISP). Her poetry was published in many ISP books. Mildred and her husband Edgar in the 1950s operated the former Hillbilly Park, where many well-known country music performers appeared. Prior to that, Mildred and Edgar had a traveling dog act and were featured on the Ed Sullivan Show. They traveled across the U.S. performing alongside circus acts with their dogs. They also performed in Vaudeville.
She was a lifetime member of the Ohio Country Music Association, member of the Eastern Star, attended Zerger Hall and was an active member of the Silver Club.
She is survived by seven grandchildren, Janet (James) Miller, Lawrence (Phyllis) Oliver, Edgar Oliver, Joyce Kidd, Joanie (Robert) Kidd, Kenneth (Rhonda) Oliver, and Christy (Dave) Laghan; 16 great grandchildren, Jason Miller, Jeremy (Georgeia) Miller, Chris Kidd, Michelle Mathis, Derek Oliver, Chad Kidd, William Kidd, Jared Kidd, Keith Oliver, Nicholas Oliver, Devin Oliver, Kaitlyn Oliver, Corey, Shawn, Dallas Laghan and Phillip Moore; and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar Ruton, in 1957; two sons, William Beckford, in 1974, Lawrence K. Oliver, Sr., in 1996, one great grandson, Brandon Pursley, in 1982; four brothers; and one sister.
Friends may call 2-6 p.m. today at the funeral home, 1850 West Main St.
She was helped by the hospice organization through her recent failing health. The family requests contributions in her memory to Hospice of Central Ohio, 1984-A Coffman Road, Newark, Ohio 43055. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

A funeral service for Bernard Lee Jones, 78, of Newark, will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Myers officiating.
Mr. Jones passed away Jan. 14, 2004, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark. He was born May 7, 1925, in Cambridge, to the late Charles and Grace Bell (Parks) Edward.
Mr. Jones was a member and past treasurer for AA for more than 20 years and had retired from Rockwell International after 31 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Evelyn Jones of Newark; daughters, Linda Rossiter of Thornville, and Wanda (Rick) West Sr. of Newark; son, Dennis (Marsha) Norton of Hanover; half sister, Shirley Brucker of Canton; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne; and a sister, Madeline.

Patricia J. Marburger

A funeral service for Patricia J. Marburger, age 78, of Newark, will be held 7 p.m. on Monday at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. There will be a private family burial.
Patricia J. Marburger was born on February 14, 1925, in Columbus, and died on January 16, 2004, at Licking Memorial Hospital. Patricia is a Past-President of Columbus Heart of Ohio China Decorators Club, and a long time member of the Ohio World Organization of China Painters. Her interests included bird watching and bird painting, painting flowers and portraits on china and porcelain and work in water colors and oil.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Marburger, with whom she co-founded Sunshine Cleaning Center in Reynoldsburg. Also of happy memory are her brothers, Earl and Clyde as well as her sister, Rita.
She is survived by companion, Steve Moschetti and son, Scot Marburger; relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Judy Ann Smith

A funeral service for Judy Ann Smith, 56, of Granville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service, with Leon Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, after a long brave battle with cancer. She was born May 27, 1947, in Zanesville, to the late Cletus and Virginia (Thompson) Walters.
She was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Fiberglass Oinettes treasurer for 25 years, Licking Memorial Hospital TWIG for 24 years, TOPS of Licking County and an avid bowler for many years.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 36 years, Lawrence Smith of Granville; three children, Diane Smith of Blue Rock, Lori Buchanan of Hebron, and Rick (Valerie) Smith of Newark; blessed with three brothers, George (Vicki) Walters of Warner Robins, Ga., Michael (Pam) Walters of Granville, and Frank (Connie) Metcalf of Silver Springs, N.Y.; three wonderful sisters, Louise (Mack) Denney of Prattville, Ala., Betty Bliss of Belfast, N.Y., and Virginia (Charles) Stenson of Perry, N.Y.; beloved grandchildren, Jason (Nicole) Smith, Monica and R.J. Smith, all of Newark, Angie and Larry Smith of Blue Rock, D.J. Hennessey of Zanesville, and Cameron Buchanan of Hebron; special niece, Aimee (Brian) Fahey and son, Joshua; special nephews, Michael and Brian Walters; beloved pet, Nicky; and cherished special friend, Libby Baker.

Merle E. Scheetz

A funeral service for Merle E. Scheetz, 78, of Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 285 W. National Dr. Additional services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Zion United Church of Christ in New Bedford with burial at the church cemetery followed by a military graveside service. The Rev. Dr. Winfield Strout will officiate.
Mr. Scheetz, passed away on January 15, 2004, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born September 13, 1925, in Baltic, to the late Paul C. and Audra E. (Levengood) Scheetz.
Mr. Scheetz was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ. He was the past vice chairman of the Board of Trustees for United Church Homes. He was the past moderator of the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ. Merle retired after 30 years from The Ohio State University as an Associate Professor Emeritus.
He served his country in World War II in the Army. He was promoted to the highest Army non-commissioned rank Staff Sergeant and received the Purple Heart, two Bronze Battle Stars, a Combat Infantry Badge, and an Expert Marksman. He was a member of NARFE, National Association of County Agricultural Agents, Gamma Sigma Delta, The Agrarian Club, and he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degree in Agricultural Education from OSU. He was inducted in the Licking County Agriculture Hall of Fame in 1999.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lorinda (Dean) Smith of Hinsdale, Mass., Cynthia (Trevor Marshall) Scheetz of West Haven, Conn., and Pamela (Richard) Tulloss of Utica; one brother, Kenneth D. Scheetz of Coshocton, and six grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Thelma E. (Funk) Scheetz and one daughter.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the St. John's United Church of Christ Foundation Fund.
