Hazel M. Hoy

A graveside service for Hazel M. Hoy, 95, of Utica, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hoy, a life member of The Grange, died Aug. 25, 2002, at home in Columbus with her husband at her side. She was born Aug. 25, 1907, to the late Homer and Mabel Kreager.
Mrs. Hoy was a member of the Licking County Euchre Club and Quilting Club.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Virgil J. Hoy; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Helen Kreager; stepbrothers and sister-in-law, Denzel and Gladys Morrison; brother-in-law, Tom F. Hoy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Kreager; and stepbrother, Herman Morrison.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Ohio Hospice or Grant/Riverside Hospice.

John Ellis "Ringtail" Stack Jr.

A funeral service for John Ellis "Ringtail" Stack Jr., 71, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Knox officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens, where military graveside services will be observed.
Mr. Stack, who retired from Rockwell International as a quality manager and a union steward, died Aug. 25, 2002, at Grant Medical Center. He was born April 22, 1931, in Crooked Tree, Ohio, to the late John Taft and Pearl (Gussel) Stack Sr.
Mr. Stack was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an avid CB radio operator and a member of the Newark Coon Hunters.
He is survived by his sons, Danny (Anne) Stack of Caldwell, Eddie Stack of Newark, and Jack Stack of Newark; daughter, Connie Stack-Richard of Newark; brothers, Raymond (Bonnie) Stack of Newark, and David (Kaye) Stack of Pleasant City; sisters, Amy Connell of Caldwell, and Carol Lambert of Zanesville; five grandchildren; uncle and aunt, Charles and Faye Stack of San Antonio, Texas; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Donna Mae Stack.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.
Robert E. Needham

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Robert E. Needham, 82, of Newark, who died Aug. 24, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Needham, a retired self-employed building contractor, was born to Paul and Bernice Needham.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served his country honorably during World War II in the European Theater. He spent many years enjoying fishing on Catawba Island in Lake Erie where he had a summer home.
Mr. Needham was a 1938 graduate of Newark High School, and a member of the Elks Newark Lodge for more than 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Patterson) Needham; daughter, Jan Grabko of New Jersey; son, Rex (Lori) Needham of Newark; grandchildren, Rob Grabko, Justin and Sasha Needham; two great-grandchildren, Kiley Grabko and Nicholas Grabko; stepchildren, Susan (Dan) Conley of Newark, Sherri (Tom) Lawrence of Granville, and Rosanne (Jay) Hofstatter of Lake Mary, Fla.; and stepgrandchildren, Katie and Kevin Wimer and Tommy Lawrence.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vicki.

A funeral service for Frances E. Rey Shoults, 80, of Millersport, formerly of Cynthia Street in Heath, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service, with the Rev. William J. Rauch and Vicar Jon Kibler-McCabe officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Mrs. Shoults, a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, died Aug. 27, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Millersport. She was born April 9, 1922, in Newark, to the late Harry J. and Dorothy (Hollar) Humphrey.
Mrs. Shoults lived in Newark most her life. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, crafts and fishing.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Rey (Richard) Bibart, Johanna Rey (Douglas) Hartfield and Sallie Shoults (Jerry) Clark; sons, Keith (Patricia) Shoults and Kevin (Sue Jenkins) Shoults; grandchildren, Laurie Bibart Gillam, Jennifer Bibart Dunsizer, Kristen Bibart, Ted Bibart, Rick Hartfield, Matt Hartfield, Brian Shoults, Tristian Shoults and Ashley Shoults; stepgrandchildren, Michelle Craig, Kadie Jenkins and Kelly Jenkins; six great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends; brothers, James F. Humphrey and Joseph Humphrey; and sister, Eileen Humphrey Powell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo Paul Rey (killed in battle in World War II) and Raymond E. Shoults (a veteran of World War II); brothers, Charles F. Humphrey, Harry J. Humphrey, Jr. and Robert P. Humphrey; and a sister, Maxine Humphrey Powers.

A memorial service will be held for Phyllis Joan Calin, 74, of Newark, will be held at 7 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Heath.
Mrs. Calin died after a battle with brain cancer Aug. 28, 2002, at Hospice of Central Ohio, where she was surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Calin, known as Judy to friends and loved ones, retired after many years as a secretary of the First Baptist Christian School in Danville, Ill., where she lived and worshipped most her life before moving to Heath in June 2001 and becoming a member of the First Baptist Church in Heath. She was born in Georgetown, Ill.
In addition to her faith, she was devoted to her children, grandchildren and church family. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and word searches, rummage sales and family dinners at home or at Miller's Essenplatz.
She is survived by husband, Clement, with whom she celebrated their 55th anniversary on Aug. 16, 2002; children, Phyllis (David) Geiger of Heath, Randy (Sherry) Calin of Rantoul, Ill., and Tammi (Billy) Hayward of Heath; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Fred Jenkins of Texas, Norman Jenkins of Illinois, and Charles Jenkins, also of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Verlin Willis and Mary Francis Biggs Jenkins; and daughter, Lucinda Kay Calin.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 525 S. 30th St. A memorial service will also be held Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Danville, followed by a graveside service at McKendree Cemetery in Georgetown, Ill.
