Paul J. Dobson, 78, of Dresden, died Sept. 2, 2002, at his home. He was born March 25, 1924, in West Bedford.
Mr. Dobson served in the Army during World War II and was a retired United Mine worker and had worked at Broken Arrow and Simco mines. He was also a member of the Good Samaritan Camping Club, Seneca Chapter.
He is survived by his daughter, Marge Williams of Dresden; granddaughter, Wendy (Rich) Priest of Dresden; grandson, Eric (Karrie) Williams; three great-grandchildren, Tanner Williams, Noah Williams and Devyn Williams; sister, Ethel McCoy of Coshocton; two brothers, William C. (Jean) Dobson of West Bedford, and Raymond Dobson of Trinway; and sister-in-law, Mina Dobson of Cambridge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria K. "Whiss" (Mitchell) Dobson, whom he married on Oct. 2, 1948, and died on Feb. 14, 2001; son, Paul R. "Rick" Dobson, in 1969; and a brother, Don Dobson.

Glenna M. Shough

A funeral service for Glenna M. Shough, 63, of Pataskala, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Kauber-Miller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Calvin Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Shough died Aug. 31, 2002, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. She was born July 29, 1939, in Appleton, to the late Clifton Leroy and Goldie Marie Haynes Myers.
Those who knew her loved and appreciated her.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles R. Shough Sr. of Pataskala; sons, Charles R. (Mary) Shough Jr. of Kirkersville, William (Toni) Shough Sr. of Pataskala, Tim (Lisa) Shough of Newark, and Jeffery (Tracy) Shough of Circleville; daughters, Katherine (John) Tucker of Pataskala, Terry (Greg) Shough of Pataskala, and Patricia (Tom) Higgins of Mount Vernon; sister, Frances Greer of Stockport; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lezeta; and a brother, Charley.

David L. Grimes

A funeral service for David L. Grimes, 54, of Frazeysburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Vensil-Orr Funeral Home with Minister Lyle Lipps officiating.
Mr. Grimes, who was a former employee of Rockwell International, died Sept. 6, 2002, at his residence. He was born Aug. 11, 1948, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Albert L. and Irene (Jasinski) Grimes.
He was a 1966 graduate of Licking Valley High School and attended The Ohio State University. He also was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy J. (Moran) Grimes, whom he married Sept. 18, 1992; brothers, Ronald (Emma) Grimes of Lexington Park, Md., James (Taree) Grimes of Phoenix, Ariz., Perry (Penny) Grimes of Nashport, and Dennis (Amy) Grimes of Frazeysburg; sister, Janet Wagner of Minerva; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service for Betty JoAnn (Modesitt) Roberts, 59, of Newark, will be held on Saturday at Newark Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Robert L. Knox officiating.
Mrs. Roberts, a 1961 graduate of Lakewood High School, died Sept. 10, 2002, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born April 16, 1943, in Newark, to Marjorie Marie (Wade) Melick of Newark, and the late Willard Ross Melick.
Mrs. Roberts was retired from DEFAS in Columbus, where she had been a secretary. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed quilting and loved crafting with her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Kim Lee and her fiance, Don Ridenbaugh of Newark; grandchildren, Brandon and Brandi; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Bev Melick of Newark, and Forrest and Jeanette Melick of Granville; sister, Dixie Lee Pitt of Newark; and nieces and nephews.

Ralph V. Renner

A funeral service for Ralph V. Renner, 80, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Beyer officiating. Burial will follow in Jacksontown Cemetery.
Mr. Renner, a member of Jacksontown United Methodist Church, died Sept. 9, 2002, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Abilene, Kan., to the late Hosea Victor and Jessie (Stotts) Renner.
Mr. Renner graduated in 1941 from Newark High School. He also graduated from Franklin University as an engineer following World War II. He was associated with WCLT radio for 40 years, and in 1972 he was named chief engineer, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Renner, a Tech Sgt. in the Army Air Corp with the 397th Bomb Squadron during World War II, was a radio operator on a B24. He was stationed in Cuba, Guatemala, Celinas, Ecuador, Panama Canal and the Galapagos Islands.
Mr. Renner was a life member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, and charter member, first president and secretary for many years of the Licking Township Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence (Bibart) Renner, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1951; daughter, Beth Zwink of Columbus; son, Donald (Jane Johnsen) Renner of Amanda; sisters, Erma (Fred) Irwin, Zella Winland and Dorothy Palm, all of Newark; sister-in-law, Hazel Renner of Newark; grandchildren, Karey (Tener) Steele of West Linn, Ore., and Robbie (Antje) Zwink of Columbus; and great-grandson, Kaden Steele.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Jean; five brothers; and two sisters.
