Elizabeth Browning Thomas
April 25, 2002
A memorial service for Elizabeth Browning Thomas, 88, will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday in Rhodes Chapel of First Baptist Church, Granville, with Dr. George Williamson officiating. Burial will be held in Denison, Texas.
Mrs. Thomas died April 25, 2002. She was born in Bridgeport, Texas, to Wayne Roberts and Horace Chilton Browning.
Mrs. Thomas moved with her family to Denison, Texas, as a small child. In 1931, she married her high school sweetheart, Bredette Corydon Thomas, whose grandfather, B. C. Murray, a pioneer newspaper publisher, was one of Denison's founders.
They moved to Dallas in 1961 where she became the first computer programmer in the accounting department at Chrysler's Boat Division and their first woman in management.
After her husband's death in 1990, she moved to Granville, to reside with her daughter, Judith Wayne Thomas and son-in-law, Jerry Griffin.
A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church until her arrival in Granville, she became active in the First Baptist Church of Granville, drawn by the pastor, Dr. George Williamson, and the women's group of the church.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, she is survived by her son, Bredette Corydon Thomas, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hajovsky Thomas; grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, and Sean Thomas, all of California; Elizabeth Wayne Thornberry Maher and husband Philip Maher of Granville; Richard Thornberry of New York City; and Katherine Thornberry of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Matthew Nix of California, and Sean and Cassidy Wayne Maher of Granville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Carla and Anthony Beckerley and their children William, Laura, and Jackson, all of Granville.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Laura Thomas Nix, in 1993.

Harold V. Romine

A graveside service for Harold V. Romine, 88, of Louisville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Raymond Tucker officiating.
Mr. Romine, who retired in 1976 after 25 years of service as a truck driver for the Gateway Transportation Inc., died May 1, 2002, in St. Luke Lutheran Nursing Facilities. He was born in rural Licking County to the late Ross and Bessie May (Sterman) Romine.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John R. Romine of Magnolia, Michael and Peggy Romine of North Canton, and Randall and Ruby Romine of Lorton, Va.; daughter, Sue Ann (Mackey) Bishop of Baton Rouge, La.; sister, Eileen Martin of Newark; and nine grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ophelia M. Romine, in 1968; second wife, Josephine Romine, in 2001; two brothers, Ross and Rollie Romine; and two sisters, Thelma Newell and Nellie Jones.
There will be no calling hours observed.

Margaret P. White

There will be no service or calling hours observed for Margaret P. White, 75, of Newark.
Mrs. White, a graduate of Boston University, died June 16, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Hayfield Twp., Pa., to the late Leslie and Jennie (Wasson) Peters.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Ruth Martin of Vero Beach, Fla., and Myrtle Peters of North East, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter White, in 2002; brothers, John Peters and Bob Peters; and her son, Michael J. White, who died on May 28, 2002.

Kathryn Arbaugh

A Mass of Christian burial for Kathryn Arbaugh, 91, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. William Hritsko officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Ms. Arbaugh, a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, died June 17, 2002, at Autumn Health Care, Newark. She was born Sept. 4, 1910, in Davis, W.Va., to the late Albert and Dorothy (Harper) Degler.
Ms. Arbaugh was a member of PIME Guild and the Marian Club. She was also an avid square dancer and sewer.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Dallas Ferrell of Newark, and Glenda and Charles Ruff of Newark; five grandchildren and spouses, Lori Sue Johnson, Shelly and Rick Wintgens, Christopher and Michael Schumaker, Kimberly and Stephen Green, and Chuck and Kileen Ruff; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Roland Degler of Baton Rouge, La., Jack and Ida Degler of St. Louisville, and Joe and Alma Degler of Portland, Ore.; six sisters, Joan Rose of Newark, Evelyn Edwards of Joplin, Miss., Mildred Ashbrook of Johnstown, Lois Emmons of Oregon City, Ore., Nellie Rhodes of Wakefield, Ore., and Betty Mortimer of Philadelphia, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald Arbaugh; and two sisters, Maria Arbaugh and Sue Lowry.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a vigil service will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Donald S. McKee
June 13, 1936-June 18, 2002
A funeral service for Donald S. McKee, 66, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bladensburg Church of Christ in Bladensburg with the Rev. Bob Callender officiating. Burial will follow in Bladensburg Cemetery.
Mr. McKee, who was an oil and gas producer for many years in Knox, Licking and Perry counties, died June 18, 2002, at his residence. He was born June 13, 1936, in Mount Vernon, to the late George and P. Livonna (Rine) McKee.
Mr. McKee bred and raced standardbred horses for many years. He was a member of the Bladensburg Church of Christ, BPOElks 391 in Newark, United States Trotting Association, Ohio Harness Horse Association, Ohio Oil and Gas Association and the UTK Club.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jean (Dugan) McKee; three daughters, Donna (Matthew) Buchanan of Newark, DiAnna (Steve) Green of Newark, and Dawn (Ed) Kendall of Columbus; four grandchildren, Drew, Cole and Abbigail Buchanan and Parker Green; and sister-in-law, Norma McKee of Utica.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dan McKee.

William G. Van Fossen

A funeral service for William G. Van Fossen, 86, of Croton and Bradenton, Fla., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Croton United Methodist Church, 75 N. High St., Croton, with the Rev. Brian Dunham officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford Cemetery.
Mr. Van Fossen, a member of the Croton United Methodist Church and Christ United Methodist Church in Bradenton, died June 15, 2002. He was born Oct. 31, 1915, in Hartford Township, to the late Jesse and Susie Hatfield Van Fossen.
Mr. Van Fossen farmed with his father and brothers, the late Glen Van Fossen and Danny Van Fossen of Croton, until his retirement in 1969. He was a charter member of the Licking County Agrarian Club and the Hartford Volunteer Fire Department. He was also past board member of the Johnstown Savings & Loan and Hartford School Board.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Van Fossen; three children, Dorotha (Jim) Stansbury of Croton, Sue Safford, and Chuck (Mary) Van Fossen of Bradenton, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
