David M. Caldwell

A funeral service for David M. Caldwell, 72, of Newark, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home in Newark, with the Rev. William J. Rauch officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Caldwell retired in 1985 from the Newark Air Force Base as a missile guidance technician after 37 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He died Oct. 3, 2002, at Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born Dec. 14, 1929, in North Apollo, Pa., to the late Myron F. and Ruth L. (Klingensmith) Caldwell.
Caldwell was a member of Acme Lodge No. 554 F. & A.M., former member and past master of Ashara Lodge No. 398 F. & A.M. in Elizabethtown, Pa., Lutheran faith, member of Land of Legend Rifle & Pistol Club, National Rifle Association, American Legion Post No. 85 and Antique Outboard Motor Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Granger) Caldwell of Newark; sons, D.M. Caldwell of Columbus and Sherm (Connie) Caldwell of Dublin; and granddaughters, Brittany and Chelsea Caldwell.
He was preceded in from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Masonic services will be held at 5:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Michael (Mike) J. Litzinger

A graveside service for Michael (Mike) J. Litzinger, 63, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Beulah Baptist Cemetery, with the Rev. Dean Mathewson officiating.
Mr. Litzinger, a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died Oct. 3, 2002, at Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Newark, to the late Francis and Frances (Reeb) Litzinger.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert E. and Roma Litzinger of Newark, Gerald J. and Gwen Litzinger of Jacksontown, Ohio; his brother, Gene F. Litzinger of Arizona; his half-brother, Fred Litzinger of Nevada; his aunts, Nellie Woolard of Newark and Ann Audrey Levingston of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call between 7 and 9 p.m. Sunday at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 N. Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a vigil service will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Katherine May Butts

A funeral service for Katherine May Butts, 88, of Johnstown, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, Johnstown, with Alex Eddy officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Butts died Oct. 2, 2002, at Mt. Healthy Christian Home in Cincinnati. She was born April 21, 1914, in Newark, to the late Harry and Ora Iden Parr.
She is survived by a grandson, Rick (Laurie) Butts of Mason, Ohio; granddaughter, Kim Butts of Cincinnati; and grandchildren, Katie, Ryan and Ross Butts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Butts; and brother, Charles Butts.
Friends may call between 4 and 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown.
Barbara L. Romine
July 13, 1932-Oct. 3, 2002
No funeral service will be held for Barbara L. Romine, 70, of Newark. She will be buried at a later date.
Mrs. Romine, a medical assistant Donald Adams D.O., died Oct. 3, 2002, at Arlington Nursing Home. She was born July 13, 1932, in Shelby to the late Charles and Evelyn (Poole) Hess.
She is survived by sons, Aaron Taylor of South Bend, Ind., and Norman Taylor; niece, Susan Adkins of Columbus; sister, Judith (Wilbur) Carpenter of Columbus; brother, David Hess; and the Yarnelli family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Romine.

Evelyn B. Ridgway

A funeral service for Evelyn B. Ridgway, 84, formerly of Frazeysburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Vensil-Orr Funeral Home, Frazeysburg. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
Ms. Ridgway died Oct. 3, 2002, at Mansfield Med Central Hospital. She was born July 26, 1918, to the late Bernard and Ava (Carpenter) Bush.
She was a graduate of Frazeysburg High School.
She is survived by daughter, Debra (Jeff) Litt of Shelby; sons, Bruce (Maxine) Ridgway of Zanesville, and John (Mona) Ridgway of Frazeysburg; two sisters; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; and a brother.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 110 W. Third St., Frazeysburg.
Marguerite F. Murphy
June 27, 1923-Oct. 4, 2002
A funeral service for Marguerite F. Murphy, 79, a lifelong resident of Hopewell, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage, Ohio, with the Rev. Jeff Middleton officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
Ms. Murphy, a homemaker who also worked at Buckeye Mart, died Oct. 4, 2002, at Genesis-Bethesda Hospital. She was born June 27, 1923, in Hopewell to the late Ernest Zwahlen Sr. and Martha Bichsel Zwahlen.
She was a member of Hopewell Free Methodist Church.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia M. Murphy of Zanesville; son, George W. Murphy III of Newark; granddaughters, Jodi Ross of Newark and Brooke Thompson of Newark; grandsons, Troy and Scott Murphy of Newark; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Wade Ross and Noah Murphy, sister, Ernestine Carter of Mount Vernon; and brothers, George Zwahlen of Hopewell and Ronald Zwahlen of Hopewell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Ernest Zwahlen Jr.

Charles A. Simon

A funeral service for Charles A. Simon, 83, of Johnstown, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at The Church of Ascension in Johnstown, with Father Richard Metzger officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr. Simon, who was the former owner of Kyber Run Golf Course and retired from General Electric in Columbus, died Oct. 4, 2002, at Kobacker House in Columbus. He was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Columbus to the late Charles and Elizabeth Smith Simon.
He was a member of The Church of Ascension and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by a son, Craig (Kathy) Simon of Johnstown; daughter, Becky (Wayne) Drewry of Claremore, Okla., son, Terry (Sharon) Simon of Johnstown; son, Dan (Laurie) Simon of New Albany; brothers, Steve (Josephine) Simon of Bexley, George (Pat) Simon of Johnstown, and Henry Simon of Johnstown; six grandchildren; Jeremy and Annie Drewry, Derek and Luke Simon, Kristina Burkett-Simon, and Kyle Simon; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lyda Distelhorst Simon; sisters; Irene Mazey and Betty Simon.
