A Mass of Christian burial for Charles Scott Laughery, 36, of Newark, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Rev. Timothy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Laughery died Oct. 11, 2002, in Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1965, in Newark, to Charles L. and Donna (Donavon) Laughery, of Warsaw, Ohio.
He worked as a graduate journeyman electrician for Owens Corning. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, I.B.E.W. Down Bikers, and was a 1984 graduate of Newark Catholic High School.
Mr. Laughery is survived by his parents; his son, Dylan Scott Laughery, of Newark; his fiancé, Tanya Parrish, of Newark; his paternal grandmother, Mildred Laughery, of Newark; his brother, Steven P. Laughery, of Newark; his sister and brother-in-law, Michelle M. and Pat Barron, of Ledyard, Conn.; his nephews, Austin Barron, Cobin Barron; and his step-niece, Victoria Hivley.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Delbert Laughery; and maternal grandparents, Donald and Martha Donavon.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 N. Green Wave Drive, Newark. A vigil service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A funeral service for Hannah Hutchinson, 84, of Lakeview, Ohio, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Indian Lake Community Church, Russells Point, Ohio, with Pastor John O'Hara officiating.
Mrs. Hutchinson died Oct. 9, 2002, at Massillon Community Hospital. She was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Newark.

Audrey L. Beckett
May 15, 1916-Oct. 10, 2002
A graveside service for Audrey L. Beckett, 86, of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, with the Rev. Tom Myers officiating.
Mrs. Beckett died Oct. 10, 2002, at her residence. She was born May 15, 1916, in Ashland, Ky., to the late James and Maud (Burton) Clark.
She is survived by her children, Bob (Patricia) Barker of Lakeland, Fla., Patricia (Robert) Crank of Ashland, Ky., Thelma (Donald) Hensley of Columbus, Delores Pancake of Buckeye Lake and Janice (Phillip) Henry of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Beckett; and three brothers, John Clark, Charlie Clark and Waldo Clark.

Patsy A. Ford

A funeral service for Pasty A. Ford, 72, of Pataskala, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Kauber-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Wilsonia McLean officiating. Burial will follow in Pataskala Cemetery.
Mrs. Ford, who retired from Lucent Technologies, died Oct. 10, 2002, at the Pataskala Oaks Care Center. She was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Etna, to the late Neal and Ruth Lines.
Mrs. Ford was a member of the Summit Station United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Group.
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Gary) Madden and Sue (Steven) Martin; two sisters, Jeanette Bremer and Jane (Wayne) Ratliff; one brother, Dick Lines; grandchildren, Andrea Madden, Zach (Kim) Madden, Sally (Greg) Rudduck, Charlotte Madden, Clint Madden, Josh Martin and Adrianne Martin; great-grandchildren, Emma Rudduck and Hayden Madden; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin W. "Butch" Ford; and daughter, Sally Ford.

Thomas F. Ewing

There will be no public funeral service for Thomas F. Ewing, 62, of Heath.
Mr. Ewing, well known for his sense of humor and wit, died Oct. 11, 2002, in the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born May 18, 1940, in Columbus, to the late Thomas F. and Martha (Safford) Ewing.
He was a United States Army veteran and served as a sharpshooter on the Army Rifle Team. He graduated from St. Charles High School in Columbus, then attended Columbus State University, where he studied law enforcement.
Mr. Ewing joined the Heath Police Department as a patrolman in 1968. He became chief in 1978, making him one of the youngest chiefs in Ohio. During his service, Ewing was instrumental in opening the first 911 center in Central Ohio, as well as having the first force in Ohio to use automatic weapons. He was an innovative police chief dedicated to seeing that his men were the best trained with the best education.
He organized Heath's SWAT team and was one of the first auxiliary undercover officers of the Columbus Police Department. After leaving the Heath Police Department, he became owner and operator of Ewing Investigation.
Mr. Ewing was a member of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, Eastern Chiefs Association and the National Rifle Association. He was also an avid hunter, enjoying frog hunting and bow and arrow turtle fishing.
He was a dedicated volunteer at St. Leonard Catholic Church, where he spent many hours as kitchen manager, organizing Lenten fish frys. He enjoyed cooking and was a longtime caterer of gourmet food.
Mr. Ewing is survived by his wife of three years, Nohora Ewing, of the home; sons, "Bear" Thomas S. Ewing, of Heath, Sean M. Ewing, of Heath; daughters, Christina M. Hammond, of Heath, Karen M. Ewing, of Thornville, Sara E. Ewing, of Miami, Fla., his heart-adopted daughter, Maria Victoria Restrepo, of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William S. and Carol Ewing, of Houston, John B. and Sarah Ewing, of Newark; sister and brother-in-law, Mary R. and Walter Crowe, of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.

Lauren M. Nutter

A private service has been held at St. Francis de Sales Church in Newark for Lauren M. Nutter, 43. A memorial service for friends and family will be announced at a later date.
Mrs. Nutter died Oct. 8, 2002, following a long battle with cancer.
She is survived by her father, Carl B. Nutter; mother, Lorraine Nutter; brother, Christopher Nutter; sister, Holly Kropf; brother-in-law, Walter Kropf; sister, Joy Well; brother-in-law, Ed Durkos Jr.; nephews, John Kropf, and Greg (Susan) Weller; and numerous friends, most notably Anita Corrova, Terry and Todd Tenney, Susie Hardesty, Connie Jarvis, Fredda and John Smallridge, Carl Harrison, Sheila Hartshaw and Linda Clayman.

Martha E. Claggett

A funeral service for Martha E. Claggett, 95, of Newark, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, with Rev. E.R. Trouten and Rev. Gary L. Brugger officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Claggett died Oct. 12, 2002, at the Newark Healthcare Centre. She was born Oct. 20, 1906, in Newark, to the late John W. and Zelma (Monroe) Griffith.
She was a member of Harrison Chapel Church, Pataskala, for 36 years, former member of the First Nazarene Church and the Netzer Class, aiding in the Missionary Society activities, Gideon's International Auxiliary, a graduate of Newark High School, and attended Ohio State University, Columbus, and the Office Training School of Columbus.
Mrs. Claggett is survived by her children, Ellen L. Claggett, of Newark, Lewis E. (Bonita M.) Claggett, of Newark, Paul L. (Linda S.) Claggett, of Newark, Mary Alice Abbott, of Delaware, and Martha Ann (Robert) Romine, of Newark; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd S. Claggett, who died June 8, 1988; two brothers, Paul W. Griffith and Herbert W. Griffith; two sisters, Mary Louise Adams and Minnie Alice Kinney; and a granddaughter, Bethany Dawn Claggett.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Monday and 30 minutes before the funeral service on Tuesday, at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.

Shirley Pauline Scott

A funeral service for Shirley Pauline Scott, 76, of Newark, will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 67 N. 5th St., Newark, with the Rev. William J. Rauch officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery.
Mrs. Scott, a bookkeeper for 38 years at Larry's Drugs and a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, died Oct. 11, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born Feb. 11, 1926, in St. Louisville, to the late Lawrence and Letha (Wright) Rector.
She is survived by sons, Steven (Karen) Scott, of Newark, and Rodney (Carole) Scott, of Newark; grandchildren, Rodney (Kathy) Scott Jr., Tami (Todd) Owens, Kim (Doug) Dawson and Michelle (Aaron) Fink, all of Newark; brother, Lawford (Marcia) Rector, of Florida; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Chris Scott, Blake and Payton Owens and Madelyn Dawson; a niece and a nephew; and husband, Walter Scott, of Newark.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Rector.
