Myrtle Belle Francis

A funeral service for Myrtle Belle Francis, 99, of Newark, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Young officiating. Burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Francis, who was a licensed practical nurse at LPN Nursing Facility, died Oct. 25, 2002, at the LPN facility. She was born Jan. 31, 1903, in Knox County, to the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Bischoff) Petry.
She was a member of Central Christian Church for more than 70 years, White Shrine Eastern Star 305, AARP, Golden Agers and Dorcas Quilters. She also ran the cafeteria at the telephone company for five years, from 1942-47.
Mrs. Francis is survived by daughters, Betty (Dale) Wood, of Newark, Thelma (Howard) Eddy, of Newark; three grandchildren, Dr. Thom D. Wood, of Newark, Dian Eddy, of Sanibel Island, Fla., Bruce Eddy, of Punta Gorda, Fla.; five great grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron Wood, of Newark, Ryan, Kelly and Brittany Wood, of Yorkville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jay Francis; a grandson, Timothy Wood; three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St.

Henry David Gatten

A funeral service for Henry David Gatten, 59, of New Philadephia, Ohio, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Kathy Littlejohn officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Gatten, who was employed by Owens Corning for 27 years, died Oct. 26, 2002, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born Sept. 3, 1943, in Newark, to the late Henry and Bertha (Shad) Gatten.
He is survived by his sons, Mark, David, Travis and Henry Gatten; daughter, Alisha Gatten; brothers, Arland and Danny Gatten; sister, Janice Bartlett; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jerry Shade

A funeral service for Jerry Shade, 64, will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Schoedinger Mid Town Chapel.
Mr. Shade was born April 5, 1938. He was a long time member of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club and St. John's Protestant Church.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pat Shade; son, Jerry Shade; father, Herbert Shade; sisters, Sally and Sherry; the Burks; Doug, Tammy, Zach, Kaleigh, Taylor, Tanner, Clay and Noah and the Schmitt family from Flint, Mich.; and other friends and family.

John E. Gonser

A graveside service for John E. Gonser, 72, of Newark, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Susan Spencer-Smith officiating.
Mr. Gonser, who was a boiler mechanic at Licking Memorial Hospital for a number of years, died Oct. 27, 2002, at the Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born Jan. 2, 1930, in Newark, to the late Ross E. and A. Mae (Monroe) Gonser.
He is survived by his son, John E. Gonser Jr. of Newark; four daughters, Jane E. (Rick) Moran, Susan L. (Leslie) McGuire, Jolene (Oris) McCloud and Jennifer L. Gonser, all of Newark; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale D. and William E. Gonser.

Thelma C. Clark

A funeral service for Thelma C. Clark, 83, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hanover Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jeff Mercer officiating. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Clark, who was an electronic technician at the Newark Air Force Station, died Oct. 27, 2002, at the Selma Markowitz Center. She was born Dec. 13, 1918, in Linn, W.Va., to the late Alvin D. and Addie (Fiddler) Clark.
Mrs. Clark was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. She also worked for the Starret House Group Home, and was involved with The Helping Hands at the Newark Air Force Station.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jo Lamson of Newark; sons, Thomas H. Clark Sr., James E. (Ruth Ann) Clark Sr. and Roy G. Clark, all of Newark; brothers, W. Page Carr of Newark, Tom (Helen) Carr of Toledo and Forest Carr of Akron; grandsons, James E. (Christina) Clark Jr. of Rushville, Thomas H. (Cheryl) Clark Jr. of Newark, Sean M. (Carol) Clark of Hanover and John R. Clark of Newark; and six great-grandchildren.

Harold B. East

There will be no funeral service or calling hours observed for Harold B. East, 69, of Newark.
Mr. East, a retired missile troubleshooter/technician from the Newark Air Force Base, died Oct. 27, 2002, at his residence. He was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Cincinnati, to the late Luther Lee East Sr. and Laura (Brown) East-Terry.
Mr. East served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the "Institute of Devine Metaphysical Research" in Mount Vernon.
He is survived by three sisters, Laura Vee Murdock, Mary Jane Gavin and Ann E. Lawson, all of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Luther East Jr.; and half-brother, John East.
