A funeral service for Nellie M. Ervin, 86, of Baltimore, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Carl Noland officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
Mrs. Ervin, a retired dietician assistant at Oblenness Memorial Hospital in Athens, died Oct. 30, 2002, at the Winchester Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Bentley of Newark, Louise Rankin of Industry, Ind., and Carol Poff of Baltimore; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; stepson and wife, Larry and Dorothy Ervin of Nelsonville; sister, Joann Jolley of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burns Ervin; daughter, Ruth Boyd; parents, Frank and Jossie Huseman; and three brothers.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Baltimore.
Lena "Zelina" O'Neill

Vera Virginia Simpson
May 31, 1922-Oct. 30, 2002
A private burial for Vera Virginia Simpson, 80, of Newark, was held at Hanover Cemetery.
Miss Simpson, who retired from Licking Memorial Hospital, where she had worked for 40 years in the laundry, died Oct. 30, 2002, at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehab. Center. She was born May 31, 1922, in Toboso, to the late Dorr and Cora (Lake) Simpson.
Miss Simpson was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her cousins in Newark, Nashport and Zanesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Cary Simpson; and a baby sister who died at birth.
There will be no calling hours observed.

Lillian "Gin" V. Saporito

Graveside services for Lillian "Gin" V. Saporito, 77, of Newark, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Saporito died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, in Grant Medical Center. Born Jan. 28, 1925, in Newark, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Pinnie (Shrewsbury) Hare.
Gin worked in the Newark City Schools as a secretary for Hartsler Elementary for 23 years. She was a member of Central Christian Church, PTA and the Ohio State Board of PTA.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Saporito, of the home; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Victoria Saporito, of Wooster; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bill Kowaliw, of Windsor, Ontario; four grandchildren, Christina L. Saporito, Andrea M. Saporito, Michael J. Saporito and Cameron J. Kowaliw; great-grandchild, Hannah Saporito; brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Jean Hare, of Newport News, Va., her sister, Edith Bobot, of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister.
No calling hours will be held.

Funeral arrangements for Dorothy Baruxes, 89, of Escondido, Calif., and formerly of Newark, are incomplete. She died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002.

Zelina "Lena" P. O'Neill

A Mass of Christian burial for Zelina "Lena" P. O'Neill, 89, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, with the Rev. Timothy Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Ms. O'Neill died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, in L.P.N. Health Care Facility.
She was born April 14, 1913, in Newark, to the late Antonio and Mercedes (Barsotti) Trubiano.
Lena worked for many years at Continental Can. She was a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Cannettes and Sons of Italy Rinascimento Lodge.
She was known for her great Italian cooking and took great pride in teaching her grandkids to cook.
She is survived by son, Paul A. O'Neill, of Macclenny, Fla., daughters and son-in-law, Margaret P. and Tom Wheeler Sr., of Newark, and Judith A. and Renny Richards, of Newark; daughter-in-law, Christina O'Neill, of Newark; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Louie" O'Neill in 1970; one son, Thomas L.; and one sister, Maria Dandera.
Friends will be received at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141, N. Green Wave Drive, Newark, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday. A vigil service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Pamela S. Lyons

Services for Pamela S. Lyons, 37, of Pataskala, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset with Roger Massey officiating. Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery.
Mrs. Lyons died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, in Ft. Bragg, N.C., following a long illness. She was born Jan. 16, 1965, in Columbus to Fred H. and Mae Kennedy Campbell, of Pataskala.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, of Raeford, N.C., and was an Army wife who supported her husband in service.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, whom she married Sept. 13, 1984, Staff Sgt. Rusty E. Lyons, of Somerset, stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C.; son, Dustin E. Lyons, of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; three sisters, Patricia Linton and Clint Hardbarger, of Pataskala, Linda Heffelfinger and Wally Landrum, of Kirkersville, and Wanda (Glen) Shaffer, of Pataskala; her father and mother-in-law, Darrell and Norma Talbot; her grandmother-in-law, Marjorie Patterson, of Somerset.
Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset.

A funeral service for Cathaline Rozella Burchard, 71, of Heath, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Wayt officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Burchard died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, in Newark. She was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Newark to the late Pete and Mary (Pace) Doneff.
Mrs. Burchard was a homemaker. She was a member of the Eagles.
She is survived by son, Pete (Brenda) Burchard, of Newark; daughters, Sarah (Rodney) Coble, of Heath, and Laura (Ron) Lake, of Newark; stepbrother, Bob Pace of Newark; half-sister Phyllis Raines, of St. Albans, W.Va., and six grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Burchard, who died in 1971; sister, Mary Crawford; and brother, Donald Doneff.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.
