Virginia Bean Pritchard

A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Bean Pritchard, 77, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Granville, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark-Granvlle Road, Granville, with Monsignor Paul P. Enke officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville.
Mrs. Pritchard, a certified nurses' aide in Naples and a former employee of the Curtis Wright Company and The Union in Columbus, died Nov. 15, 2002, at her residence. She was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Chillicothe, to the late Wilson and May (Jones) Bean.
She was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, a former member of the Church of St. Edward the Confessor and a 15-year volunteer at Licking Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Pritchard is survived by her granddaughter, Maura and husband Mark Urban, of Newark; a grandson, Brian Pritchard, of Newark; a great-grandson, Alexander Urban, of Newark; friend and former husband, Joseph R. Pritchard, of Granville; life-long friend Betty Penny, of Naples, Fla.; and cousins, Margaret Goodwin and Noni Garrison, both of Chillicothe.
She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick Pritchard, and brother, Edwin Bean.

Harold 'Jerry' Keinath

A funeral service for Harold "Jerry" Keinath, 72, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John C. Minihan officiating.
Mr. Keinath, a veteran of the Korean conflict, died Nov. 14, 2002. He was born Jan. 27, 1930, to the late Harold Jess and Mildred (Green) Keinath.
He was a salesman at Sears, and a past member of the Newark Jaycees, trustee and lifetime member of Newark Maennerchor, a member of Central Ohio Region Chapter, Antique Automobile Club of America.
No calling hours will be observed. Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, is in charge of arrangements.

Curtis G. Meade
April 6, 1937-Nov. 15, 2002
A graveside service for Curtis G. Meade, 65, of Newark, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Meade, a veteran of the U.S. Army, died Nov. 15, 2002, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born April 6, 1937, in Dingess, W. Va., to the late Carlos M. Meade and Mrytle (Maynard) Meade.
He is survived by mate and life-long friend, Karen Meade; sons, Cecil G. Meade, Billy J. Meade, Dennis and Diane Meade and Carlos J. Meade; daughters, Tammy Work, Connie and Jerry Mattimore and Jami L. Meade; three brothers; four sisters; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Charles M. Golden
April 25, 1959-Nov. 17, 2002
A funeral service for Charles M. Golden, 43, of Thornville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Golden, who worked as a self-employed carpenter and also worked for L&A Construction, died Nov. 17, 2002, at the Selma Markowitz Center of Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born April 25, 1959, in Lancaster.
He is survived by his father, Delbert C. (Margaret L.) Golden, of Thornville; mother, Norma Jean (Steele) Forest, of Heath; children, Kelley Jo Golden and Christopher Golden, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jenna Golden, of Lancaster; sisters, Debbie Spencer, of Columbus, Ann (Jim) Sunkle and Missy Golden, both of Newark; brother, Ralph Golden, of Mount Perry; grandmother, Margaret Golden, of New Salem; fiancee, Deborah Huckabaa, of Thornville; stepbrothers, Jeffrey (Donna) Mayle, of Thornville, Ronald (Shelia) Mayle, of Newark, and Michael (Shantell) Jenkins, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; stepsister, Jill Sims, of Thornville; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, John England.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mendy Golden; and grandparents, Ralph Golden and Freda and Clarence Steele.

Connie Sue Houston Parsons

A funeral service for Connie Sue Houston Parsons, 52, of Crooksville, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Goebel Funeral Home, with Pastor Carolyn Hoskinson officiating.
Mrs. Parsons, who was a co-office manager for Beaumont Pottery, of Crooksville, died Nov. 16, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville. She was born March 31, 1950, in Logan.
Mrs. Parsons was a member of White Chapel United Methodist Church, of Newark, and was an avid Browns fan and golfer. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 1968.
She is survived by her husband, John F. "Jack" Parsons; parents, Stanley and Ocean (Tucker) Houston, of Newark; two sons, James R. (Valerie) Norris, of Newark, and Gregory "Keith" Norris, of Fort Benning, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Kim (Lane) Cheney, of New Lexington, and Tara Randolf, of Thornville; two sisters, Karen (Bob) Pitcock, of Crooksville, and Lorna (Scott) Stradley, of Newark; brother, Gary (Karla) Houston, of Novi, Mich.; and nine grandchildren.

Thomas J. Bender

A funeral service for Thomas J. Bender, 79, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bryan Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, where VFW Post 1058 will conduct military services.
Mr. Bender, who retired as an inspector for McGraw Edison, died Nov. 14, 2002, at Licking Memorial Hospital -- Hospice Unit in Newark. He was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Opperman, Ohio, to the late Frank J. and Henrietta (Spurrier) Bender.
Mr. Bender was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Verna L. (Bergey) Bender, whom he married on July 7, 1952; stepson, George (Sharon) Haddox, of Clarksville, Tenn.; stepgrandchildren, Tiffany (Hank) Lang, of Hanover, Rhonda Sines Avery, of Newark, Katherine Noble, of Newark, Holly (Edward) Jenney, of Rapid City, Mich., and Katie (John) Maher, of Clarksville, Tenn.; 17 stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, Ben Bender Sr., of Dade City, Fla., James (Ardeth) Bender Sr., of Vero Beach, Fla., and John (Delores) Bender Sr., of Zanesville; sisters, Thelma Achauer and Genevieve Goodwin, both of Zanesville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry G. Bender; sister, Fanny Everley; stepdaughter, Betty Manning; niece, Betty Everley; and nephew, David L. Ross.

Donna E. Carpenter

A funeral service for Donna E. Carpenter, 82, of Pataskala, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Kauber-Miller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Zavotka officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
Mrs. Carpenter died Nov. 17, 2002, at Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Baltimore, to the late Elmer and Erma Blake.
She is survived by her three children, Patricia (Kurt) Gries, of Chandler, Ariz., Kathleen (Sammy) Forren and Donald (Catherine) Carpenter Jr., both of Pataskala; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and special caregiver, Belinda Keefer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Carpenter Sr.; grandson, Kenneth "Cookie" Gries; six brothers; and four sisters.

Robert E. Carter

A funeral service for Robert E. Carter, 68, of Thornville, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Ruh officiating.
Mr. Carter, who served in the Naval Reserves and worked as a supervisor for A.E.P., retiring after 43 years, died Nov. 17, 2002, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark. He was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Jersey, Ohio, to the late Harold F. and Ruth (White) Carter.
Mr. Carter was founder and owner of the Country View Golf Club of Thornville. He was a member of the Buckeye Lake Moose, Eagles of Buckeye Lake, Glenford Lions Club, Sporting 40 Club and Columbus and South Central Electric Quarter Century Club. He was a lover of history, especially of the Civil War era.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn (Stonerock) Carter; daughters, Debra R. (Darrell) Carter and Kathryn M. Carter, of Thornville; sons, Nick E. (Jenny) Carter, of Grove City, and Douglas E. (DeLana) Carter, of Thornville; grandchildren, Autumn R. Carter-Brown, Eric D. and Alex M. Carter, and Hunter D. and Sarah K. Carter; God-son, Bryan D. Borland; sisters, Ella Mae (Hayward) Hartman, of Seminole, Fla., and Ruth I. Belknap of Columbus.
