Jim W. Scott

A funeral service for Jim W. Scott, 79, of Savannah, Ga., will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Chapel of Sipple Mortuary, 5525 Abercorn St., Savannah, Ga., with the Rev. Matt Hearn officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Mr. Scott died June 22, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to the late Rush Scott and Freida (Hertzel) Scott.
Mr. Scott was a member of the White Bluff United Methodist Church and a retired pharmacist. He was the former owner of Oliver Drugs, and a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Karen S. (Earl) Shaut of Germantown, Tenn., and Ann E. Morris of Greer, S.C.; two sisters, Joanne Davis of Leesburg, Fla., and Josephine Troyer of Urbana; brother, Landon Scott of Springfield; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Permelia (Lemieux) Scott.
Helene Ann Bero
Sept. 27, 1919-June 25, 2003
Helene Ann Bero, 83, of Newark, died June 25, 2003, at Autumn Health Care. She was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Akron, to the late Frank and Katie (Veras) Kettlinger.
Mrs. Bero was a member of the Eden Hill Toppers and Rockwell Retirees.
She is survived by her two sons, David (Janet) Bero and Timothy (Lisa) Bero, both of St. Louisville; one sister, Elizabeth Pastor of Painsville; eight grandchildren, Jamie Bero, Andrew Bero, Julie (Michael) Doel, Jill (Justin) Osborn, Vanessa Bero, Melissa Bero, Savannah Bero and Jeremiah Bero; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Doel and Cassady Doel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Bero, whom she married on Oct. 5, 1940, and died in 2000; sisters, Rose Tenke, Mary Padar and Kathleen Cornmesser; and brother, Frank Kettlinger.

Betty E. Farnsworth
Jan. 30, 1943-June 28, 2003
A funeral service for Betty L. Farnsworth, 60, of Chandlersville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Knox officiating. Burial will follow in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
Mrs. Farnsworth, a 1960 graduate of Philo High School, died June 28, 2003, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville. She was born Jan. 30, 1943, in Stewart, to the late James and Frances (Norris) Harkins.
In 1994, Mrs. Farnsworth graduated from MATC as an administrative assistant and she retired in 2002 as a nursery technician for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. She was also a homemaker and loved to crochet.
She is survived by her four sons, Richard Farnsworth of Frazeysburg, Randy Farnsworth of Chandlersville, Robbie (Jackie) Farnsworth and Roger (Laura) Farnsworth, both of Zanesville; two daughters, Rita Nicholson of Blue Rock, and Rebecca Pierce of Frazeysburg; brother, Glen (Bev) Harkins of Macksburg; sister, Jeanne (Gail) Chambers of Zanesville; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Farnsworth, who died on Dec. 24, 1997.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 110 W. Third St., Frazeysburg.

Richard L 'Dick' Dudgeon
July 30, 1936-June 30, 2003
A funeral service for Richard L. "Dick" Dudgeon, 66, of Glenford, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Heath Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service, with Pastor John Sellers officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Poplar Forks Cemetery, Gratiot, where American Legion Post 756 will have military honors.
Mr. Dudgeon, who was employed by the city of Zanesville in vehicle maintenance, died June 30, 2003, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born July 30, 1936, in Newark.
Mr. Dudgeon served in the U.S. Army from November 1959 to January 1962. He was formerly employed at the Roper Corp. for 17 years, St. Regis (Georgia Pacific) for five years, Bexley Equipment for 17 years, and Newark Asphalt.
Mr. Dudgeon was a member of the Brownsville United Methodist Church, where he had served as trustee. He helped start both Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops in the Brownsville and Glenford areas and was presented with the Order of Merit Award in May of 1976 by the Licking County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of American Legion Post 756.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Phyllis (Nickels) Dudgeon, whom he married on June 14, 1958; children, Carol Sue "Susie" Dudgeon of Glenford, Paul Dudgeon and fiancée Becky Wells of Delta Junction, Ark., and Heather Dudgeon of Newark; special daughter, Leatha Davis of Glenford; six grandchildren, James, Rebecca and Logan Dudgeon of Dresden, and Nicole, Erica and Valerie Wells of Delta Junction, Ark.; brother, Robert and Frances Dudgeon of Newark; sister-in-law, Margaret Dudgeon of Newark; nieces, nephews and cousins; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Rachel Nichols, Roger and Betsy Nickels and Ethel and Ernie Yost.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Hazel (Moran) Dudgeon; two sons, Paul Richard Dudgeon and Richard Wayne Dudgeon; brother, Donald Dudgeon; and sister, Virginia Quikley.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 1249 Hebron Road, Heath.

William F. Harvey

A funeral service for William F. Harvey, 74, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Christian Endeavor United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard L. Smyers officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery, where military honors will be observed.
Mr. Harvey, a former service representative for A.E.P. -- Ohio Power, died July 1, 2003, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center. He was born July 16, 1928, in Newark, to the late Russell and Eva (Grieshiemer) Harvey.
Mr. Harvey served in the Navy Air Reserves. He was a member of Christian Endeavor United Methodist Church and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was also the clerk for Newark Township for 24 years, and charter member for the Newark Township Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel (Keckley) Harvey; son, Donald (Donna) Harvey of Concord, N.C.; daughter, Debi (Wayne) Harrison of Tyrone, Ga.; grandchildren, Becky, Mike and Brooke, and Ben (Alana) Harrison, Josh and Andrew; sister-in-law, Dorothy Harvey; niece, Carol (Gary) Kinney; and nephews, Jim (Diane) Harvey and Bill (Cathy) Harvey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.

Pharell Ashon, infant son of Heather R. Wachenschwanz and Frank Allen Jr., died July 4, 2003. He was born May 22, 2003, in Newark.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his four sisters, Aaliyah M. Wachenschwanz of the home, and Sparkle Hill, Leilani Wells and Alonah Wells; three brothers, Prince Allen, Chris Sullivan and Demetrius Gingras; maternal grandparents, Timothy A. and Carolyn K. Wachenschwanz Sr. and Cedric and Joanne Nelson; paternal grandparents, Frank Sr. and Margaret Allen; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
