Mr. Saunders was born March 3, 1919, in Reynoldsburg.

Francis B. Slonaker

A funeral service for Francis B. Slonaker, 92, of rural Baltimore, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kauber-Miller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
Mr. Slonaker died July 29, 2003, at the Pataskala Oaks Care Center. He was self-employed and a retired farmer who worked at Curtis-Wright during World War II. He interrupted retirement to work at Southwest Licking School bus barn as a mechanic and to mow for the Highlands Country Club well into his 80s.
Mr. Slonaker was a charter member of Reynoldsburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Olivia (Owen) Slonaker; children, F. Howard (Sandra) Slonaker of Baltimore, and Robert O. (Lynn) Slonaker of Newark; grandchildren, John H. Slonaker, Patricia S. (T. Todd) Diener, Robert C. (Stephanie) Slonaker, Chadd E. and Reese W. Slonaker; brother, George V. (Darlene) Slonaker of Pataskala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Leola Slonaker; brothers, Emmett V., William E. and Robert H. Slonaker; and one infant grandchild, Christopher G. Slonaker.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala.

Ralph R. Hobbs
Jan. 22, 1918-July 28, 2003
A funeral service for Ralph R. Hobbs, 85, of Granville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service, with the Rev. Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Mr. Hobbs died July 28, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Licking County, to the late Cary E. and Emily Maude (Hall) Hobbs.
Mr. Hobbs was a Granville Schools bus driver and he retired from Roper. He was a 50-year member of the Knights of Pythias, a 50-year member of Dokey and a 50-year member of the Grange. He was also an avid golfer and bowler.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice M. (Hoskinson) Hobbs; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Forrest Layman; and sister, Burdelle Evans.

Sgt. Maj. Larry R. Gregg

A funeral service for Larry Richard Gregg, 62, of Zanesville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at New Hope Full Gospel Church, 3550 East Pike, Zanesville, with Pastor Joe DiVincenzo officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
Sgt. Maj. Gregg died July 28, 2003, at Genesis Hospice in Zanesville. He served with the Ohio Army National Guard from Sept. 5, 1956, enlisting as a freshman in high school, to Nov. 12, 1999. He served with many military units in the state of Ohio, as well as other military units in various states such as Michigan and Kentucky, to mention a few. He also worked as a government employee for the Ohio Army National Guard, 1217 Hollar Lane, Newark, as an automated self-service supply center manager for 32 years.
He was a member of New Hope Full Gospel Church.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy (Knowlden) Gregg; son, Eric W. Gregg; daughter, Sherri Taylor; grandchildren, Amanda Taylor and Neil Michael Taylor; brother, SGM Mike (Tawny) Gregg of Zanesville, who also served in the Ohio Army National Guard; and one sister, Virginia Jones of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Murrell and Edna (Roberts) Gregg; six brothers, Gordon, Robert, Murrell, William, Russell and Terry Gregg; two sisters, Marjorie and Beverly Gregg; one granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Taylor.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 W. Military Road, Zanesville, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Warren R. Swain
Nov. 14, 1924-July 30, 2003
A funeral service for Warren R. Swain, 78, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Swain, who retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas after 34 years of service, died July 30, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1924, in Elba, to the late Albert and Florence (Reed) Swain.
Mr. Swain was a 1942 graduate of Macksburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Swain of Newark; son, Gerald Swain and Patricia Gow of Columbus; sister, Betty Goodwill of Elba; brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Swain of Toledo, and Frank Swain of Dexter City; several nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Lucille Swain, on May 26, 1994; one brother; and one sister.

Daisie M. Mathews

A graveside service for Daisie M. Mathews, 96, of Delaware, formerly of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Newark Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Ray Kane officiating.
Mrs. Mathews, a retired sales clerk for Kresges Department Store, died July 29, 2003, at Arbors in Delaware. She was born March 26, 1907, in Newcomerstown, to the late Frank and Nancy Ann (Booth) Peoples.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Mathews of Delaware; two nieces, Linda Mathews of Delaware, and Barbara Johnson of Ostrander; and two nephews, John R. Mathews of Nags Head, S.C., and Robert Mathews Jr. of Delaware.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Mathews, in 1979; and brother-in-law, Robert E. Mathews.
Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Chapel, Newark, is in charge of arrangements.

Wilma M. Worden

A funeral service for Wilma M. Worden, 77, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Worden, a retired timekeeper with the Newark Stove Co., died July 30, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born March 25, 1926, in Newark, to the late William and Margaret (Mills) Cagney.
Mrs. Worden loved to do crafts and crochet.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Walter E. Worden; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Larry Bagent of Heath, Rebecca and Robert Bentz of Newark, and Margery and Mark Buzzelli of Heath; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Kim Worden of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Donald and Linda Worden of Durham, N.H., and Frederick Worden of Johnstown; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lois Cagney of Cleveland, and Teruko Cagney of Florida; nephew, Michael (Jeanne) Cagney of Newark; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William Cagney and Frederick Cagney; and sisters, Margaret Rector and Alice Cagney.

Jean L. Arter

A funeral service for Jean L. Arter, 77, of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Community Church in Buckeye Lake, with the Rev. David Moody and the Rev. Kevin Blade officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
Mrs. Arter, an active member of First Community Church in Buckeye Lake, died July 28, 2003. She was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Berkley, Mich., to the late William and Isabelle (Engles) Brandt.
Mrs. Arter graduated from Berkley High School. She was a member of the Hebron, Millersport and Buckeye Lake Senior Citizens, the Millersport Lioness Club, the Buckeye Lake VFW Auxiliary and the Ladies Guild at First Community Church.
Mrs. Arter was also a member and active volunteer for the Buckeye Lake Civic Association, where she helped raise money for local projects and the annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kay Arter of Henderson, Nev.; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Ralph Davis of Pataskala; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Earl Bonno of Lisbon, N.Y.; and brother, August Brandt of Swartz Creek, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1992; son, Charles; three brothers; and three sisters.
