A memorial service for Gertrude Lillie Smith, 82, of Newark, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Fenton officiating.
Mrs. Smith, a retired licensed vocational nurse, died Aug. 11, 2003, at the Arlington Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Ravenna, to the late Charles and Gertrude (DeFluiter) Hall.
Mrs. Smith is a member of the Newark Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Dorcas Society.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice (Allan) Best of Grants Pass, Ore.; two sisters, Ruth Styche of Newark, and Faith VanSchiak of Dayton; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Smith, in 1980; three brothers; and one sister.

Fred Thomas Angle

A funeral service for Fred Thomas Angle, 59, formerly of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Oaklawn Chapel of Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
Mr. Angle, who was self-employed, died Aug. 8, 2003, at his home following a short illness. He was born Jan. 5, 1944, in Charleston, W.Va.
He is survived by his two sons, Terry (Millissa) Angle of Pierson, Fla., and Ronnie (Theresa) Angle of Geneva, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jessicalyn and David Angle; and brother, Everett (Sharon) Angle of Newark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Britley and Bertha Angle; and one brother, Clearence W. Angle.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home, 5000 County Road 46-A, Sanford, Fla.

John N. Butcher

A funeral service for John N. Butcher, 79, of Mount Vernon, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rob Law officiating. Burial will follow in Brandon Cemetery.
Mr. Butcher died Aug. 11, 2003, at his home. He was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Knox County, to the late Leroy and Ruth (Lepley) Butcher.
Mr. Butcher was a farmer and retired in 1981 after 34 years of employment with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries. He was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church, and Miller and Morgan Grange.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth (Faulk) Butcher; three sons; Ron (Joyce) Butcher of Newark, Roger (Tawyna) Butcher of Centerburg, and Jeffrey Butcher of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Geniel (Mike) Roye of Royal Oak, Mich., and Sue (Rodney) Beckett of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Alice) Butcher of Utica; and two sisters, Genevieve (Harold) Bechtel of Fredericktown, and Geraldine (Charles) Martin of Mount Vernon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Butcher.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon.

Mabel L. Dietrich

A funeral service for Mabel L. Dietrich, 69, of Johnstown, will be held at noon Saturday at the Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, with Evangelist Ray Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Dietrich, a member of the Johnstown Church of Christ and the Newark Browns Backer Club, died Aug. 13, 2003, at her residence. She was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Milford City, to the late Beryl D. and Candy Eunice (Wynne) Rhyan.
After years of devoted service, Mrs. Dietrich retired from Sanese Services.
She is survived by her husband, Edward F. Dietrich; three children, Deborah (Charles) Mitchell of Granville, Michael (Tari) Dietrich of Newark, and Joseph (LeeAnn) Dietrich of Westerville; two brothers, John W. Rhyan of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Jack E. Rhyan of Johnstown; sister, Patricia W. Shoemaker of Croton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth E. Bishop

A funeral service for Ruth E. Bishop, 92, formerly of Smithville, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
Mrs. Bishop, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Smithville, died Aug. 13, 2003, at Glendora Health Care Center. She was born May 7, 1911, in Smithville, to the late Charles and Zella (Ferrer) Hartzler.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Bishop had co-owned and operated a number of restaurants in the Wooster area.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Marian and Dale Zimmerman of Wooster, Philip and Ruth Bishop of Wooster, David M. and Joy Bishop of Smithville, and Julia and Ric Hughes of Newark; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Ross and Grace Hartzler of Smithville, Arlo and Wilma Hartzler of Smithville, Donna Martin of Wooster, and Geneva and Forrest Hutchison of Wooster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Miles H. Bishop, on Sept. 29, 1991; daughter, Janice Margaret, in 1953; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Lucille Jones Reed, Mildred Ports, Vivian Frecka and Rhea Hoover; and brothers, Joseph and Jessie.

Lawrence L. Cramer

A funeral service for Lawrence Leroy Cramer, 66, of Granville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Granville, with the Rev. Karen Chakoian officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, Johnstown.
Mr. Cramer, owner of Cramer Building Service and sexton for the First Presbyterian Church, died Aug. 12, 2003, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio in Newark. He was born June 27, 1937, Newark, to the late Lawrence T. and Esther May (Piper) Cramer.
Mr. Cramer was a 1955 graduate of Granville High School and his company provided custodial services for the Granville Village Exempted School District from 1979 to 1995.
Mr. Cramer was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2801 of Buckeye Lake and bowled in the Tuesday Night Business League at Valley Lanes in Newark and the Seniors Traveling League. He was a former member of the Ohio National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Scott Cramer, whom he married on May 8, 1976; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Carol Davis of Newark, and Danny and Genette Cramer of Toledo; daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Ron Wilson of Howard, and Kathy and Richard Sigars of Orange Park, Fla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dotty (Bryant) Cramer; infant son, Ricky Lee Cramer; and one great-granddaughter.
