A funeral service for Jack Douglas "Doug" Conner, 42, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 67 N. Fifth St., Newark, with the Rev. William J. Rauch and Vicar Jon Kibler-McCabe officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Doug, a 1979 graduate of Newark High School, died Aug. 20, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1961, in Newark, to Jackie Gene and Kathryn Ann (Peck) Conner of Newark.
Doug was a real estate agent for Michael's Real Estate and had been a barber for 17 years in the Newark area. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he had served with the youth and was also a sacristan. He was a member of the Licking County Board of Realtors.
Doug had been a volunteer for several local organizations including the Crisis Center and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He was an avid golfer and was a music lover who enjoyed playing the drums.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Marti Deneanne Kolb Conner; sister, Danette Kathryn and Carl Smitley Jr. of Newark; nephews, Jeremy Gene (Vanessa) Smitley, Jonathan Ross Smitley and fiancee Lucy Pethtel, Joey Alan Smitley and fiancee Sarah Francis; uncle, Walter (Ethel) Peck; aunt, Lois Peck; uncle, James (Violet) Conner; aunts, Marie Conner and Elnoria Conner; grandmother, Marty Gordon; mother-in-law, Edee Kolb; brother and sister-in-law, Jim & Becky Kolb of Newark; niece and nephew, Kendell Kolb and Cameron Kolb; many beloved cousins and friends

A funeral service for Benjamin W. Roberts, 83, of Peterstown, W.Va., will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, W.Va., with Pastor Neil Warner and Evangelist Roger Hatfield officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Millersport Cemetery, Millers- port, Ohio.
Mr. Roberts, a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, died Aug. 20, 2003. He was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Staunton, Va., to the late Franklin and Calmalla Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Faye (Steel) Roberts; two sons, Bill (Patricia) Roberts of Thornville, and Gary (Connie) Snograss of Sarasota, Fla.; five daughters, Linda Milliser of Lancaster, Sandra (Larry) Winegardner, Betty (Harold) Brison, all of Thornville, Gloria (Clifford) Moran of Millersport, and Anette Place of Rich Creek, Va.; two sisters, Madeline Sandor of Fort Myers, Fla., and Jean Tenney of Wichita Falls, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and close friend, Wayne Mays.
Timothy R. Wright
A funeral service for Timothy R. Wright, 41, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the West Park Baptist Church, 4600 W. 150th St., Cleveland. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.
He is survived by his parents, Fred W. and Betty J. Wright of Newark; brothers, Fred and Steve; 14 nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Denny Hoyt.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Bryon Wright.

Paul A. Miller

A Mass of Christian burial for Paul A. Miller, 96, of Newark, formerly of Ironton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton, with Father Thomas Nau officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Miller died Aug. 20, 2003, in Newark. He was born Oct. 31, 1906, in Ironton, to the late Joseph and Elizabeth A. (Pirrung) Miller.
Mr. Miller was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ironton, and currently attended St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Newark.

Nellie E. Armstrong

A funeral service for Nellie E. Armstrong, 95, of Newark, formerly of Jefferson, Pa., was held on Aug. 19 at the Behm Funeral Home in Jefferson, Pa. Burial followed in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Pa.
Mrs. Armstrong, a homemaker, died Aug. 16, 2003, at the Newark Health Care Centre. She was born Aug. 25, 1907, in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, to the late Earl and Mary (Molesy) Minor.
Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Eastern Star and was Baptist by faith.
She is survived by her three sons, Robert C. Armstrong of Bloomingdale, Gerald M. Armstrong of Honolulu, Hawaii, and John S. Armstrong of Newark; five daughters, June Robinson of Jefferson, Pa., Gertrude Bascomb of Golden Valley, Ariz., Carol Cline of Newark, Gwen Strickland of Lilburn, Ga., and Luci Parsons of Denver, Colo.; 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Remembrance Guy Armstrong, who she married on May 3, 1924, and who died on Dec. 16, 1987; two daughters, Leah Meinert and Helen Mavromatis; and three sons, William Armstrong, Remembrance "Jimmy" Armstrong and an infant son.

Dorothy A. Broadbent

A memorial service for Dorothy A. Broadbent, 80, of Oberlin, formerly of Bay Village, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, with the Rev. Arthur Lavoie officiating. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date in Alexandria.
Mrs. Broadbent died Aug. 17, 2003, at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center in Lorain. She was born, Feb. 2, 1923, in Johnstown, and had lived in Granville, Newark and Columbus, before moving to Bay Village. She has lived at the Kendal of Oberlin the past 10 years.
Mrs. Broadbent was a World War II Navy veteran, stationed with the Naval Weather Bureau in Washington, D.C. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from The Ohio State University. She was a member of the Delphine Society, a current events discussion group in Cuyahoga County, a member of Bay Crafters and the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church. She was an artist, working in watercolors and creating collages. She had an interest in the Zen and enjoyed world travel, visiting various countries with a travel group from Oberlin College.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard W. Broadbent; two daughters, Kitty Broadbent of Montclair, N.J., and Diane E. (Marty) Friedman of Harrisburg, Pa.; son, Jack M. (Lani) Broadbent of Grasonville, Md.; and a grandson, Douglas Friedman.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home, 32000 Detroit Road, Avon.

Lulu Mae Moseley

A funeral service for Lulu Mae Moseley, 106, of Utica, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Moseley died Aug. 21, 2003, at the LPN Health Care Facility in Newark. She was born June 7, 1897, in Osceola, Mo., to the late William Grant Robinson and Fannie Angeline (Kaufmann) Robinson
Mrs. Moseley had been a resident of Utica since 1979. She was a member of the St. Louisville Church of Christ and the Fairfax Rebekah Lodge in Fairfax, Okla.
She is survived by her daughter, Norma Newhouse of Utica; son, Fount Hale Mashburn of Concord, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and her loving caregivers at the LPN Health Care Facility in Newark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Moseley; four brothers; and three sisters.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Evelyn Kaiser

A funeral service for Evelyn Kaiser, 65, of Pataskala, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hosanna Lutheran Church, Pataskala, with Pastor Wayne Zavotka officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
Mrs. Kaiser died Aug. 22, 2003, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. She was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Columbus, to the late Harvey and Wilma Milholland Decker.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Bruce) Hewitt of Ohio, Katherine (Gerald) Kreutzer of Louisiana, Robert Kaiser of Ohio, Cheryl (David) Zilinski of Oklahoma, Richard (Becky) Kaiser of Florida, and Greg Kaiser of Indiana; grandchildren, Michael and Melissa Hewitt, Sara and Tasha Kreutzer, Quetina Kaiser, Shawn and Brandon Zilinski, Brittany, Ricky and Payge Kaiser, and Tyler and Christian Kaiser; great-grandchildren, Jon and Caleb Kreutzer; and sister, Shirley Moore.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Johnson.

A funeral service for Ellen Ashbrook, 87, of Johnstown, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, Johnstown, with the Rev. James Arnot officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Ashbrook, who was a teller at Johnstown Bank, died Aug. 21, 2003, at New Albany Care Center. She was born March 4, 1916, in Radnor, to the late Joseph Daniel and Mary Katherine Difnay Almendinger.
She was a member of Johnstown Presbyterian Church, and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, Wahneta Chapter No. 235, Pataskala.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (John) Billman of Gahanna.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred G. Ashbrook; brothers, Mark and Glenn Almendinger; and sisters, Nellie Davis, Bessie McKenzie and Evelyn Almendinger.
