Virginia B. (Middleton) Gonzales

A memorial service for Virginia B. (Middleton) Gonzales, 90, of Johnstown, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Johnstown United Methodist Church, 159 S. Main St., with the Rev. Brien McGarvey officiating.
Mrs. Gonzales, a resident of Chimes Terrace in Johnstown for 21 years where she served as librarian, died Oct. 14, 2003, at the Newark Healthcare Centre. She was born Oct. 21, 1912, in Franklin County, to the late William and Mary Ellen (Lewis) Blagg.
Mrs. Gonzales was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and attended Ohio University. She was retired from elementary teaching and from North American Aviation.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jo Long of Newark; sons, Joseph Middleton of California, and Chester Middleton of Nevada; grandchildren, Debra Main of Florida, Julia Chapman of Texas, Brooke Siebold of Colorado, Jay Middleton of California, and Kimberly Middleton of Nevada; great-grandchildren, Connor and Meredith Main, Austin Seibold and Maile Middleton; and sisters, Billie Jean Hart and Margaret Walden of Columbus, and Pat Eddins of Idaho.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William G. Middleton.

Deborah Sue Greene

A funeral service for Deborah Sue Greene, 40, of Columbus, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Charles W. Noble Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Greene was born Dec. 21, 1962, in Valdosta, Ga., to the late Henry Greene Sr. and Irene (Golden) Greene of Newark.
She was a member of Shiloh missionary Baptist Church and the original secretary of Par Excellence and taught the children choir and band and the youth choir. She worked at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus as an administrative secretary. She also wrote a book of poetry that was published.
She is survived by daughters, Tamica Spraggins and Aundrea Spraggins, both of Columbus; son, Bradford Spraggins Jr. of Columbus; grandchildren, Suyang Arianna Spraggins and Dajeh Siyanna Spraggins; mother; brothers, Henry Greene Jr. of Gary, Ind., Walter Greene Sr., Lindsey Greene, Curtis B. Greene, Gregory Greene and Cecil V. Greene, all of Newark; sisters, Jerlene Greene of Sugarhill, Ga., and Cassandra Williams of Newark.
She was preceded in death by her father; and brother, Michael C. Greene.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home.

Leo F. Reichert

A graveside service for Leo F. Reichert, 75, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Cemetery, with the Rev. Mr. Robert Ghiloni officiating.
Mr. Reichert died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Flint, Mich., the son of the late Leo A. and Mary Martha (Friel) Reichert.
Mr. Reichert served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II and Korea in the Military Police. He was a land developer in real estate and was owner and operator with his wife of Awanna The Florist for 19 years.
He was a member of St. Francis Church, the Knights of Columbus 721, Moundbuilders Country Club, and was an avid golfer and Newark Catholic athletic fan.
Surviving are his wife, Awanna (Powell) Reichert of the home; daughter, Celeste Reichert Friedman of Newark; sister, Marlene Martin of Troy, Mich.; his special friend, Huckleberry; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death beside his parents, were one brother, Richard; and one sister, Rita Harrington.

Ms. Scheffler died Thursday, October 16, 2003, in Riverside Hospital. She was born April 8, 1941, to the late Thomas E. and Mildred L. (Stalter) McLean.
Maxine, a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, worked as a Bookkeeper for Phil's Classic Cars. She was also an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia.
Maxine is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kristina (Tom Workman) Thaggard, of Newark, and Heather and Tracy Rakaska of Newark; foster child, Tabby Britton; 7 grandchildren, Nathan, Jordan, Dylan and Logan Workman, Jerred, Haley and Brittany Rakaska; brother and sister-in-law, Charles T. and Trudy McLean of Quaker City; sister and brother-in-law, Carol A. and Gary Thoma of Collinsville, Illinois; special friend, Becky Thoma of Newark, and faithful dog companion, Baron.

A funeral service for Vallie D. Parsons, 87, of Dresden, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Brent Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Dresden Cemetery.
Mrs. Parsons died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2003, at Genesis Morrison House. She was born May 26, 1916, in Columbus, a daughter of the late Clarence and Edna Nicholson. She had worked for 25 years at Doctors North Hospital as a nurse technician.

A graveside service for Dorothy I. Poland, 78, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Welsh Hills Cemetery, 1536 Welsh Hills Road, Granville, Ohio, with the Rev. Robert L. Knox officiating.
Ms. Poland passed away October 17, 2003, at her residence. She was born January 17, 1925, in Winget Run, Ohio, to the late Daniel and Goldie (Hall) Adams.
She is survived by her sons, Larry (Jean) Schafer and John Poland both of Mt. Vernon; daughters, Jean Schafer of Newark, and Winifred Wilder of N. Dallas, Texas, along with special friend, Michele Bolovan of Newark; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
