Glenn Albert Rice
Retired USAF MSgt. Glenn Albert Rice, 78, of Fairborn, died at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, in the Dayton Heart Center.
Mr. Rice was born March 11, 1922, in Logan County, the son of Charles and Edith Shoots Albert.
He was a 1940 graduate of Monroe Township High School, who also attended The Ohio State University.
A dedicated serviceman, he served during World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1945. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968.
He was a member of the Bellefontaine American Legion Post 173, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1080 and Chapel Hill Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Rice is survived by his wife, Joyce; two step-daughters, Beverly (David) McCoy of Fairborn and Brenda Matunas of Columbus; one step-son, Scott (Joy) DeHaven of Beavercreek; three sisters, Ruth Caldwell of Urbana, Mary Guckert of Bellefontaine and Esther Allison of Northfield, Mich.; three brothers, Paul Rice and Charles Rice, both of Charleston, S.C., and John Rice of Cincinnati; three step-grandchildren, Kelly and Katelyn McCoy and Tyler Matunas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Frances Rice, who died in 1982; one brother, Ralph Rice; and two sisters, Lois Ann Konegter and Miriam R. Wilcox.
Martha E. Woodrum
Martha E. Woodrum, 88, of Marysville, formerly of the East Liberty-Middleburg area, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Heartland of Marysville Nursing Home following a short illness.
She was born Nov. 22, 1912, in Leonardsburg, the only child to the late Curtis and Katie Heinlen Biggs.
In 1935, she married Harry Rogers and he passed away in April of 1946. She married Lewis Edwards in 1950 and he died in February of 1971. She then married John Woodrum in 1972 and he passed in August of 1982. She was also preceded in death by one son, Glenn Rogers; and one step-son, Carl Edwards.
A loving homemaker, Mrs. Woodrum was formerly employed at the Pump House Restaurant in East Liberty. She was a member of the Middleburg United Methodist Church and the AP Club in Middleburg.
She graduated from Orange High School in Delaware County in 1930. She enjoyed Alan Jackson and his music, crocheting, and collecting tea cups and saucers.
Mrs. Woodrum is survived by two daughters, Donnabelle (Herb) Fischer of Marysville and Roberta (James) Moore of East Liberty; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Rogers of Marysville; stepchildren, Regina Furlong and John Woodrum, both of West Mansfield, Metta Hildreth of North Lewisburg, Sonja Brown and Dinah Dague; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; a brother-in-law, Carl (Delores) Rogers of Galena; and special friend, Harold Stinemetz of Marysville.
Maefreda Anna Faust Bazzle
Maefreda Anna Faust Bazzle, 93, of 1716 Whispering Pines Lane, died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
A native of Richland Township in Marion County, she was born Sept. 14, 1907, a daughter of the late Henry Downing and Dora Pauline Kraner Faust.
On June 13, 1930, in St. John's Lutheran (Windfall) Church, Marion County, she married Ivan Paul Bazzle. He preceded her in death March 11, 1972.
She was the beloved mother of one son, Robert M. (Janet) Bazzle of Bellefontaine; three daughters, Paula Waner of Bellefontaine, Victoria "Vicki" (Joseph) Yoakam of Bellefontaine and Judith "Judy" (Carl) Rockhold of Shelbyville, Tenn.; three brothers, Cyrus, Guy and Floyd Faust, all of Cardington; two sisters, Esther (Ray) Rinehart of Marion and Leilah Garverick of Marion; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Betty Kerns; and two brothers, Harold and Carl Faust.
Mrs. Bazzle was a homemaker. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran (Windfall) Church, and was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine, where she was a member of Hope Circle. An avid horsewoman all her life, she showed horses and raced her world champion pony, Trampas, until she was 75 years old.
Mrs. Bazzle held membership in the Rushsylvania Rough Riders, Fleurette Garden Club, and was a lifetime member of the United States Pony Trotting Association.
She was a 1927 graduate of Cardington High School. Mrs. Bazzle will be remembered for her love of hats and love of her family.
Relda L. Campbell
Relda L. Campbell, 76, of Lakeview, died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lakeview on June 17, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Anderson T. and Nancy J. Hicks Thomas.
On Aug. 4, 1941, she married Herbert C. "Bill" Campbell. He died Sept. 24, 1992.
A homemaker, Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39 Auxiliary, Lakeview.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Wilson of Lakeview; one son, Gary W. (Kathy) Campbell of Largo, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Curtis (Rosie) Slotten of Lakeview and Minnie Burton of Lima; five brothers, George W. Thomas of Lakeview, Gilbert F. Thomas of Sacramento, Calif., Wilson W. Thomas of Harrod, Bradley J. Thomas of Green Cove Springs, Fla. and Norman L. Thomas of Lakeview; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon, three sisters, one brother and one great-granddaughter.
Donna Elizabeth Fry
Donna Elizabeth Fry, 79, of 8A Defiance Commons, Wapakoneta, and formerly of DeGraff, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
Mrs. Fry was born March 16, 1921, in Logan County, the daughter of Lawrence Edward and Esther Evalene Kuntzman Yoder.
She married John L. Fry on July 8, 1967, in Russells Point and he preceded her in death in July 1997.
A 1939 graduate of DeGraff High School, Mrs. Fry was retired as an inspector for Detroit Aluminum and Brass in Bellefontaine.
She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church of Wapakoneta and a life-time member of the Wapakoneta Chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445.
Mrs. Fry is survived by one daughter, Sandi (Tom) Evans of Wapakoneta; one son, Ron Johnson, Captain of the S/V Cordelie; one step-son, John Fry and family of Worthington; one step-daughter, Sally Sryock and family of Osocada, Mich.; 11 grandkids; four step-grandkids; 13 great-grandkids; 4 step-grandkids; 13 great grandkids; seven step-great-grandkids; one brother, Charles E. "Bud" (Eunice) Yoder of DeGraff; two nieces; one nephew; and three best of friends, Mary, Art and Dear Joe.
Floyd F. Furrow Sr.
Floyd F. Furrow Sr., 85, of 745 S. County Road 34, Quincy, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at The Pavilion in Sidney.
A native of St. Paris, he was born Oct. 3, 1915, a son of Ross and Georgia Tappy Furrow.
He married Norma I. Heaton on Feb. 21, 1938, in St. Paris, and she preceded him in death March 18, 1997.
Mr. Furrow was a farmer.
He is survived by four sons and their spouses, Floyd and Ann Furrow Jr. of Paulding, Ronald and Anna Furrow of Quincy, Tary and Di Furrow of Quincy, and Gary and Patty Furrow of DeGraff; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One brother, Chester Furrow, and four grandchildren are deceased.
Henry N. Heath
Henry N. Heath, 86, formerly of Xenia, died Feb. 8, 2001, in Seminole, Fla.
He was born in Middleburg and graduated from Bellefontaine High School.
Mr. Heath served on the Xenia School Board of Education for 16 years, from 1952 to 1968. He was a member of the first Human Rights Commission of Xenia and was actively involved in the desegregation of the Xenia City Schools.
In addition, Mr. Heath was general manager of the Greene County Farm Bureau and later served as director of operations with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (Landmark).
While a resident of Xenia, he was an active member of Faith Community United Methodist Church and the Xenia Kiwanis Club. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Xenia Masonic Lodge 49. After his retirement in 1979, he moved to Seminole, Fla., where he received several honors and awards for his extensive volunteer work.
Mr. Heath was a member of the Oakhurst United Methodist Church in Seminole, where he taught an adult Sunday School class.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma Heath; one brother, Paul Health of Seminole; one daughter, Judy Wagner of Dayton; one son, David Heath of Shoreview, Minn.; and five grandchildren, Bryan Knisley, Jennifer Knisley, Eric Wagner, Greg Heath and Maggie Heath.
Dale George
Dale George, 70, of Moundwood, Huntsville, died at 1:38 a.m., Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Portsmouth, the son of William and Nell Hill George.
Mr. George married the former Frieda Frock on Aug. 27, 1950, and she survives.
Mr. George owned and operated G & G Associates Insurance in Marysville for 27 years before retiring in 1998. He had been a part-time employee of Tinsley's IGA since 1998.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Galilee Lutheran Church in Russells Point.
In addition to his wife, Mr. George is survived by one daughter, Kathy (John) Michel of Marysville; three sons, James (Diane) George of Friendsville, Tenn., Michael (Julie) George of Huntsville and Paul (Stephanie) George of Lima; six grandchildren, Leah, Justin, Austin, Meriele, Max and Alexis; six step-grandchildren, Paul, Chris, Shane, Sean, Justin and Megan; one step-great-grandson, Dakota; and three sisters, Fern Sammons of Springfield, Rosalee (Don) Landess of Springfield and Essie Trittle of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.
Charles Edwin Krock
Charles Edwin Krock, 84, of Belle Center and Tavares, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, in Leesburg, Fla., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Kenton on July 17, 1916, a son of Fred and Cleo Byrne Krock.
On May 13, 1939, he married Rena Maxine Smith, in Newport, Ky., and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Vickey Ricketts of Aurora, Colo., Karen Baker of Westerville and Jane Hunt of The Dalles, Ore.; one son, Charles J. "Jim" Krock of Belle Center; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include one sister, Loretta Ammons of Belle Center; and one brother, John Krock of Kenton.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Krock.
Mr. Krock was retired from Armco Steel in Marion. He was a graduate of Bowling Green State Teachers College, and his memberships included the BPO Elks, Loyal Order of the Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, all in Kenton, and the Hardin County Farm Bureau.
