Wilma J. Bowman Pfeiffer

Wilma J. McCombs Bowman Pfeiffer, 91, of Kenton, died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at the Hardin Hills Health Center.

She was born Oct. 31, 1909, in Champaign County, a daughter of John and Allie Reams McCombs, who had resided in the North Lewisburg area.

On Sept. 26, 1929, she married Paul R. Bowman. He died November 18, 1959. On Aug. 2, 1962, she married Theodore "Ted" Pfeiffer, who preceded her in death Feb. 27, 1994.

Ronald D. Arthur

Ronald D. "Dick" Arthur, 67, of Lima, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at his residence.

He was born June 17, 1934, in Auglaize County, a son of the late Howard and Ethel Naylor Arthur.

On July 19, 1953, he married Vaude A. Guthrie, who survives.

Mr. Arthur was a machinist for Dana Corporation for 24 years before his retirement in 1996. He had previously worked for the Waynesfield Elevator and also was a farmer. He was a member of the Forest Park United Methodist Church and was an avid Ohio State University Buckeye fan.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Robin K. (Lynne) Arthur of Powell and James R. (Janet) Arthur of Westerville; four brothers, Wilson Arthur and Gerald Arthur, both of Lima and Hershel Arthur of Waynesfield and Roger "Mack" Arthur of Lafayette; and one sister, Maxine Hedrick of Waynesfield.

Mr. Arthur is also survived by six grandchildren, Angie (Jim) Barna, Michelle Saunders, Benjamin Arthur, Mary Arthur, Lauren Arthur and Mitchell Arthur; and two great-grandchildren, Trevor Barna and Sydney Barna.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Arthur and Vern Arthur; and one sister, Bonnetta Cummings.

James A. Kniska
James A. Kniska, 69, of Osage Beach, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach.

Mr. Kniska was born in Monongahela, Pa., on July 25, 1932, a son of Andrew and Susan Greedan Kniska.

He married Sharon Owens in January 1988 in Ohio.

Mr. Kniska founded, owned and operated Precision Custom Products in DeGraff and was a member of the Society of Plastic Industries and Plastic Pioneers.

He was a graduate of West Virginia University, a member of the Walk on Water Church in Osage Beach, a volunteer at Lake Regional Health System and the Sun City Hospital in Sun City, Ariz.

An avid reader and traveler, Mr. Kniska was also known as "Mr. Thumbs-up" for his positive attitude and inspiration to others.

Mr. Kniska is survived by his wife, Sharon Kniska of Osage Beach; his father, Andrew Kniska of Osage Beach; two daughters, Ruth (Stephen) Mahoney of Hanover, Mass., and Jane (Brian) Hough of Lewistown; one stepson, Michael Baroli of Columbia, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Susan Davis of Eureka, Mo.; three brothers-in-law, Bill Owens, Jerry Owens and Buddy Owens; two sisters-in law, Frances Sneathen and Trish Willmering; three grandsons, Liam, Gavin and Eamonn Mahoney; four step-grandchildren, Shannon Stearns and Hayes, Meredith and Max Baroli; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Kniska; and one sister, Betty Kniska.

Robert "Bobby" Earl Ellison

Robert "Bobby" Earl Ellison, 41, of 3021 Township Road 247, DeGraff, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital.

He was born in Sidney on Feb. 18, 1960, a son of Bob and Magdalen Robinson Ellison of Quincy.

Mr. Ellison married the former Jackie Ann Bell on April 13, 1991, in Quincy and she survives.

Mr. Ellison was an electrician with Henschen Industrial of Jackson Center.

Along with his wife and parents, Mr. Ellison is survived by two daughters, Nicole Ellison and Renee Ellison, both of Lakeview; two stepdaughters, Veronica Bell and Marie Bell, both of Quincy; one stepson, Walter Blankenship of West Virginia; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Ray (Karen) Ellison and Johnny (Wanda) Ellison, both of Quincy.

One brother, Jerold Ellison, preceded him in death.

Rhaynna Renee Stryker
Rhaynna Renee Stryker, infant daughter of Terry and Rhonda Stryker of Quincy, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, after birth.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Bradley and Terry Connor "T.C.," and one sister, Rhiannon, all at home; another sister Stephanie Stryker, her fiance Dallas Clary and their daughter Raelyn Clary, all of Quincy; paternal grandparents, Verle and Martha Stryker of DeGraff; maternal grandparents, Bob and Barb Hughes of Sidney; and three great-grandparents, Harold and Bernice Langston of Sidney and Carrie Baker of Maplewood.

She was preceded in death by five great-grandparents, Robert S. and Ramona Hughes, George and Hattie Stryker and Roy Baker.

Eunice Oglesbee

Eunice Oglesbee, 93, of West Liberty, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, in Mary Rutan Hospital.

Mrs. Oglesbee was born in Van Wert County on Nov. 22, 1907, a daugher of the late Alva and Mary Markley Adams.

She married Harry L. Oglesbee on Dec. 24, 1926, and he preceded her in death May 10, 1988.

A homemaker, Mrs. Oglesbee was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Waynesfield Grange and Loyal Neighbors for many years, and formerly served as a 4-H leader in Waynesfield.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruth (Herbert) Odenweller of Delphos and Martha (Roger) Hough of DeGraff; one son, Richard (Carol) Oglesbee of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Florence Steiner of Delphos.

One brother, Ernest Adams, preceded her in death.

J. David 'Bud' Hostetler

J. David "Bud" Hostetler, 71, of 2576 W. State Route 245, West Liberty, died at 3:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Mary Rutan Hospital.

He was born in Champaign County on Jan. 1, 1930, a son of the late Mervin A. and Ruth Anna Troyer Hostetler.

Mr. Hostetler married the former Shirley A. Flora in West Liberty on April 18, 1954, and she survives.

A self-employed carpenter, Mr. Hostetler was a member of the United Church of Christ in West Liberty, where he served as a deacon.

Mr. Hostetler was an antique equipment collector and an avid golfer and was involved for many years with fastpitch softball. He served two years in Korea with the U.S. Army.

Along with his wife, Mr. Hostetler is survived by one son, Curt (Tracy) Hostetler of West Liberty; one daughter, Cyndi Hostetler of West Liberty; two brothers, James (Sue) Hostetler and Bill (Lynn) Hostetler, both of West Liberty; two sisters, Joy (John C.) Plank of West Liberty and Joan (James R.) Sine of Zanesfield; and five grandchildren - Bethany, Jennifer and Rachael Hostetler and Samantha and Alex Van Houten.

One daughter preceeded him in death.

Alice M. Patton Enoch

Alice M. Patton Enoch, 95, of Brooksville, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 20, at Eastbrooke Health Care Center.

She was born in Waverly and moved 37 years ago to Brooksville, from St. Petersburg, Fla.

Mrs. Enoch was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

She retired from Web City after many years, and also was a former secretary/treasurer of TEL Class and WMU of First Baptist Church of Brooksville, where she was a member for more than 20 years.

Survivors include one son, Robert Enoch of Huntsville; two daughters, Florence (Sam) Crescenzi of Brooksville; Ruth Alice Fox of Bryan, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Mabel L. McCall
Mabel L. McCall, 97, of Mt. Victory, died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Baldwin Manor.

Born May 19, 1904, in Logan County, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Lois Wilgus Clapsaddle.

On Nov. 22, 1922, she married Frank McCall in Mt. Victory. He died in 1971.

She is survived by one niece, Karen (Dan) Patrick of Cardington; one nephew, Robert (Marilyn) Battles of Huntsville; one niece-in-law, Jo Battles of Marysville; and several great-nieces and nephews; great-great- nieces and nephews; and great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Geneva, Opal and Alice; and a nephew, Jack Battles.

A homemaker, Mrs. McCall was the oldest member of the Mt. Victory United Methodist Church and held membership in the Mary Lenox Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

She was a past president of the Lima District United Methodist Women, formerly the W.S.C.S. In addition, Mrs. McCall served as a delegate to the General Conference of United Methodist Churches.

She and her husband were clerks at auction sales for Bill McNamee for a number of years and she was an avid antique collector.

Frances E. McMillin
Frances E. Hipple McMillin, 93, formerly of Bellefontaine and Indianapolis, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001.

Mrs. McMillin worked 36 years for Indianapolis Life Insurance Co., retiring in 1977 and moving to Highland Park, Ill.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Robert Parks; three grandchildren and their spouses, Howard and Nettie Parks, Sally Ann Parks and Robert Jr. and Lisa Parks; five great-grandchildren, Edward, Elizabeth, Robert, Campbell and Hayley; two sisters, Jean E. Hipple of Indianapolis and Alice H. Keller of Sun City, Fla; and a nephew, John C. Keller of Houston, Texas.
