Gwendolyn J. Barnes
Gwendolyn J. Barnes, 75, of Kenton, died at 5:25 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, in her home.
She was born in Sidney on Oct. 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Raymond and Leona Shaffer Fagan.
On June 9, 1945, she married Roger E. Barnes and he survives.
A homemaker, she worked as a caregiver.
Also surviving are four daughters, Deanna (Ike) Rarey of Jackson Center, Phyllis (Jim Phelps) Barnes of Bellefontaine and Sandra (Byron) Jackson and Connie (William) Kirk, both of Kenton; one son, Rodney (Annette) Barnes of Ada; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerome (Esther) Fagan of Kenton; and one sister, Wanda Shroyer of Sidney.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Wallace Fagan.
Gertrude A. Edwards
Gertrude A. Edwards, 83, of Bellefontaine, was rescued from this Earth by her guardian angels at 3:25 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, in Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was born in Sidney on Aug. 3, 1918, a daughter of the late James V. and Gladus W. Young Doak.
On April 16, 1940, she married Howard Edwards and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1996.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Golden Age Senior Citizens of Russells Point. She was loved very much and will be truly missed.
She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Clay of Mary Esther, Fla., Phyllis (Paul) Robb of New Bremen, Pat (Peter) Barber of Westerly, R.I., and Linda (Thomas) Auske of Bellefontaine; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, James Doak of Port Jefferson and Bernard Doak of Maryland; and two sisters, Mary Ireton of Piqua and Betty Jane of Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, one son and two grandchildren.
Florence Margaret Horn
Florence Margaret Horn, 83, of Bellefontaine, died at 5:05 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, in Green Hills Center in West Liberty.
She was born in Logan County on Dec. 31, 1918, a daughter of the late Ray and Viola Lee Boone.
On Oct. 24, 1939, she married Joe H. Horn in Logan County, and he survives.
She was a homemaker and secretary for the office of Dr. Douglas Beach.
An avid bowler, she was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine and the Needlecraft Sewing Club.
Also surviving are one daughter, Evelyn (William) Vance of Bellefontaine; two brothers, Raymond Boone of Bellefontaine and William R. Boone of Springfield; and one grandchild, Kim Hill of Bellefontaine.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Shirley Eileen McPeck
Shirley Eileen McPeck, 75, of Deer Lodge, Tenn., and formerly of Phillipsburg, died unexpectedly Monday, April 1, 2002, in her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; two sons, Michael (Renee) McPeck of Brookville and Brian (Michelle) McPeck of Michigan; daughters, Karen Jo (Kenneth) Hosler of Pitsburg, Ohio, Sharon Kay (Steven) Pomeroy of Lebanon and Joyce Ann (James) Balser of St. Paris; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mary M. Prieser
Mary M. Prieser, 96, of Jackson Center, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, at The Pavilion in Sidney.
She was born in Jackson Township in Shelby County on May 23, 1905, a daughter of the late Jacob and Magdalena Zorn Helmlinger.
On Oct. 14, 1926, she married Robert F. Prieser and he preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1995.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Clay Township.
She is survived by two daughters, Loris (Ed) Henry of Belle Center and Miriam (John) Phillips of Wapakoneta; one son, Dale E. Prieser of San Antonio; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Arlene; two sisters; four brothers; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Jean T. Hooker
Jean T. Hooker, 66, of Russells Point, died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
The Cleveland native was born March 4, 1936, a daughter of the late Herman and Edith Tilghman Osborne.
On Sept. 30, 1955, she married Herbert "Bud" Hooker, who survives.
The homemaker and member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church also belonged to the Indian Lake Eagles Aerie 3615, Lakeview, and the Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39, Lakeview.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Terry (David) Kaminski of Brunswick Hills, Becky (Buster) Clem of Seville, Tracy (Eric) Braun of Currituck, N.C., and Brenda Hooker of Bellefontaine; two sons, Michael (Diana) Hooker of Lakeview and Herbert (Tammy) Hooker of Hooksett, N.H.; one sister, Dorothy Turner of Broadview Heights; one brother, Arthur (Katie) Osborne of Aiken. S.C.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Tamara Lynn Robson
Tamara Lynn Robson, 55, of Bellefontaine, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 17, 2002, in her home.
She was born in Kenton on Jan. 30, 1947, a daughter of Kernan M. Robson, who survives in North Greenfield, and the late Wilma J. Lucas Robson who died July 18, 1998.
Her husband, George Woodall also preceded her in death.
She was raised in the North Greenfield area and had resided in Oklahoma City nearly 20 years before returning home in July.
The former Nationwide Insurance employee attended Logan Hills High School and the Columbus Bliss Business College. She dearly loved her grandchildren.
Also surviving are a son, Shane Hartley of Zanesfield; a daughter, Mindy Hartley of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Sean, Aiden, Amber and Sarah Hartley; three brothers, Gary (Debbie) Robson of Grove City, Richard (Robin) Robson of Columbus and Paul (Rene) Robson of Edmund, Okla.; three nephews, one niece, and 10 great- nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Erma K. Stotts
Erma K. Stotts, 79, of Lakeview, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Heartland of Indian Lake Rehab.
She was born in Waynesfield on Jan. 22, 1923, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lenora Cummins Andrews.
On April 21, 1946, she married Robert L. Stotts and he survives.
The homemaker was a former employee of Gray's Orange Barn in New Hampshire. She also was a former member of the Waynesfield United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are two sons, Randall (Patty) Stotts of Tega Cay, S.C., and Kevin (Suellyn) Stotts of Worthington; three granddaughters, Erin, Krysten and Rhian; and one sister, Margaret Heileman of Lima.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Myron and Morris Andrews.
Nancy K. Tranick
Nancy K. Tranick, 62, of Jackson Township, near Massillon, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her residence following a long illness.
She was born Feb. 1, 1940, in Bellefontaine and lived in Erie, Pa., before moving to the Massillon area 30 years ago.
She had worked briefly as a registered nurse, but spent most of her life as a homemaker and devoted to her family. She enjoyed all types of sports and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 38 years, William Tranick of Jackson Township; two sons, Stephen Tranick of Garfield Heights and Robert Tranick of Columbus; one daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Allen Burleson of Canton; and two granddaughters, Renea Tranick and Drew Tranick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marjorie (Ginn) Kelty.
