Dianne Michelle Long
Former Bellefontaine resident Dianne Michelle Long, 29, of Columbus, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, as a result of injuries sustained in a fire at her residence.

She was born in Bellefontaine on Sept. 16, 1973, a daughter of Beverly D. Henry, who survives in Bellefontaine and Charles Long, who survives in Cato, N.Y.

Also surviving are one sister, Joyce (Greg) King of London, Ohio; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Henry of West Liberty; paternal grandmother, Martha Long of Ridgeway; and three nephews, Gregory, Geoffrey and Garrett King, all of London.

Her grandmother, Stella Henry, preceded her in death Nov. 23.

The 1991 graduate of Bellefontaine High School worked as a consumer representative for Verizon in Dublin. She was named to Who's Who in 1990 and 1991.

Geraldine Z. Seeling
Geraldine Z. Seeling, 76, of Lakeview, died at 11:36 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, in The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.

She was born in West Liberty on Feb. 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Marston and Nellie Fields Huffman.

On Oct. 4, 1968, she married Charles J. "Joe" Seeling and he preceded her in death Jan. 8, 2001. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca; one grandson; one stepdaughter; two stepsons; four stepgrandchildren; and three brothers.

She is survived by four daughters, Tina (Greg) Williams of Bellefontaine and Sue (Rulon) Spring, Theresa (Leo) Hangholt and Sandra McCafferty, all of Lakeview; and six sons, William McCafferty of Mt. Victory, Walt (Betty) McCafferty of Marion, Ron (Marty) McCafferty of Lakeview, Jeff (Linda) McCafferty of Belle Center and Robert (Kathy) McCafferty and Thomas Seeling, both of Lewistown.

Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Diane (Dan) Derringer of Alexandria and Roseanne (Dan) Morris of Delphos; one stepson, Joseph Seeling of Beaverdam; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Neer of Bellefontaine and Betty McClain of Lakeview; and two brothers, Everett (Louise) Huffman of West Liberty and Meril (Marilyn) Huffman of Middleburg.

A homemaker, she attended Indian Lake Church of the Nazarene.

Martha L. Hudkins
Martha L. Hudkins, 67, of Russells Point, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in Mary Rutan Hospital.

She was born in Columbus on April 16, 1935, a daughter of Ruth Koch Erwin of West Liberty and the late Hank Koch.

On July 23, 1960, she married John P. Hudkins Sr. and he preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1992.

Along with her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Rena (David) Knight of Rockwood, Tenn.; two sons, Vernon L. (Delores) Hudkins and Michael (Vickie) Hudkins, both of Russells Point; one adopted son, Jason (Nicci) Hudkins of Lewistown; one stepdaughter, Theresa (Eddie) Dapore of Florida; and two stepsons, John Hudkins Jr. of Lakeview and Bryan (Maria) Hudkins of New Hampshire.

Also surviving are three grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; 21 great-stepgrandchildren; one sister, Doris (Curtis) Hankins of Columbus; and four brothers, William Chiles and Gary Chiles, both of Marion, and Robert Erwin and Rick Erwin, both of Lakeview.

A homemaker, she was a past president and member of the Indian Lake Eagles 3615 Auxiliary in Lakeview.

Carl L. 'Kelly' Losh
Carl L. "Kelly" Losh, 91, of Lima, died at 1:26 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

He was born in Hardin County on Jan. 15, 1911, a son of the late Harry N. and Bertha Pugh Losh. A brother, Clarence "Happy" Losh, and one sister, Bernice "Bea" Buckley, also preceded him in death.

On Sept. 27, 1937, he married the former Wilda M. Jervis and she survives, along with two sons, Joe E. (Mona) Losh of Elida and Thomas E. (Twyla) Losh of Ohio City; and one daughter, Linda L. (Darrell) Clay of Bellefontaine.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Joey, Kelly, Darrell, Jim, Chris, Tommy and Bryan; three stepgrandchildren, Kevin, Keith and Kent; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was retired as a truck driver for Duff Truck Lines and Commercial Motor Freight.

A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 370 in Lima, he was a charter member of the Teamsters Union 908 since 1937. He also was a member of the Teamsters Retiree Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing euchre and pinochle.

Sandra S. Pandin
Sandra S. Pandin, 48, of Mechanicsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana.

Born March 2, 1954, in Columbus, a daughter of Bud and Ruth Ann Blakeman Moore.

An employee of Honeywell, she was a longtime associate of American Thunder Motor Club Association and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3974, Auxiliary. She also was a longtime blood donor for the American Red Cross.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph E. Pandin, whom she married May 30, 1998; her father, Bud Moore of Mechanicsburg; four stepchildren, Todd J. Pandin of Pennsylvania, Anthony J. Pandin of Michigan, Theodore J. Pandin of Mechanicsburg and Susan M. Pandin of Urbana; three sisters, Pam (Bob) Rutan, Billie (Jeff) Goheen, Mickie (Homer) Dunlap, all of Mechanicsburg; eight nieces and nephews, Shannon Rutan, Jonathan and Annie Royster, Sarah and Sam Goheen, Sabrena (John) Haynes, Kellen and Julia Dunlap; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Todd A. Spearman
Todd A. Spearman, 39, of Kenton, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002.

He was born June 3, 1963 in Hardin County, a son of Wilbur and Phyllis Piper Spearman.

On May 14, 1988, he married Cathy Osborn, who survives along with one daughter, Cristina Spearman; his mother, Phyllis McElree of Kenton; father, Wilbur Spearman of Kenton; two brothers, Tony (Shaunna) Spearman of Kenton and Travis (Crystal) Spearman of Belle Center; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phil and Carol Osborn of Belle Center; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A self-employed auto body technician, he was formerly employed at Mack Truck in Findlay. He graduated from Kenton Senior High School and the Ohio Hi-Point Joint Vocational School in 1983.

He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association.

Mary A. Brophy Davis
Mary A. Brophy Davis, 73, of Bellefontaine, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in Arbors of Hilliard. She was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Fort Scott, Kan., a daughter of late Stephen and Anna Karleskint Brophy.

She was married Robert A. Davis on Dec. 2, 1955, in London, England, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1971.

She was a homemaker and a member St. Patrick Catholic Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She served seven years in the U.S. Air Force including a stint in England where she met her husband.

Surviving are: two sons, Stephen (Joyce) Davis of Cleveland and Robert W. (Kathleen) Davis of Bellefontaine; two daughters, Laurie Ann Davis of Hilliard and Lisa Davis of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Teresa (Donald) Harold of Chesterfield, Va., and Frances Brophy of Fort Scott, Kan.; and five grandchildren, Betsy, Nick, Stevia, Christopher and Connor Davis. A granddaughter, Mary Kathleen, preceded her in death.

Benjamin L. Stevens
Benjamin L. Stevens, 26, of Bellefontaine, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

He was born Jan. 16, 1976, in Toledo, a son of Gary A. and Beth A. Zimmerman Stevens, who both survive and are of Bellefontaine.

He was a 1994 graduate of Benjamin Logan High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of Dayton. He was employed as a mechanical engineer for Pleasant Precision Inc. in Kenton and was active in wheelchair sports. He was a former resident of Greenville and attended school there.

Other survivors include maternal grandparents, Eldon and Janet Zimmerman of Bellefontaine; paternal grandparents Stanley and Marcella Stevens of Bellefontaine; a sister, Mrs. David M. (Heather E.) Karr of Powell; and a niece, Hannah Karr, also of Powell.

Lillian K. Simpson
Lillian K. Simpson, 87, of North Lewisburg, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, in her residence.

She was born in Champaign County on Jan. 16, 1915, a daughter of the late William and Eva Marie Schafer Coleman.

She was married to Glen A. Simpson and he preceded her in death, as did four brothers, Edwin, James, Kenneth and Ralph Coleman; and one sister, Evelyn Winkie.

She is survived by one son, Jerry L. (H. Jane) Simpson of North Lewisburg; one brother, Robert (Esther) Coleman of Sebring, Fla.; two sisters, Avis Jenkins and Betty (Wesley) Duncan, both of Three Rivers, Mich.; two grandchildren, Scott Simpson of North Lewisburg and Debra (Mike) Weigel of Cincinnati; and five great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star Portia Chapter 448 and the Hill and Valley Club of Champaign County.

Elsie E. Spencer Hughes
Elsie E. Spencer Hughes, 97, of Belle Center, died at 12:23 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at the Baldwin Manor Nursing Home.

Born March 13, 1905, in Hardin County, she was a daughter of the late Wayne A. and Mary Jane Horner Shepherd.

Her first husband, Major A. Spencer, died June 27, 1958. On Oct. 21, 1962, she married Finley Hughes. He died July 31, 1991.

Survivors include one daughter, Evelyn McCalla of Belle Center; two grandsons, Tom (Jean) McCalla of Harrod and Jack McCalla of Belle Center; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Dorothy (Don) Donnel of Lima and Mary (Jim) Pope of Alger; and several stepgrandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, and one stepson, Donald Hughes.

A homemaker, she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Maysville.
