Francis Lloyd "Fanny" Orahood
Francis Lloyd “Fanny” Orahood, 79, of Bellefontaine, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
A longtime truck driver, he formerly was employed with Harris & Joliff Lumber Company and Hi-Point Trucking. He was a past member of the Bellefontaine Moose Lodge. Fanny enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed children.
He was born Feb. 2, 1928, in East Liberty to the late Lloyd and Clara Smith Orahood. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Wilson, Nadine Clagg, Frieda Amos and Minnie Jones, and four brothers, Charles, Frank, Fred, and Fay Orahood.
Survivors include three sisters, Goldie Garwood of West Mansfield, Lela (Greydon) Hone of Bellefontaine and Sandra (Joe) Slavin of DeGraff; a brother, Jack Orahood of West Mansfield; a sister-in-law, Beulah Orahood of Bellefontaine; two brothers-in-law, David Clagg of Farmington, Mich., and Jack Jones of Mt. Victory; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and a special friend, Betty Clark of Bellefontaine.
Following cremation, graveside services will be conducted at East Liberty Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home of West Mansfield handled arrangements.
Mary A. Cline
Mary A. Cline, 75, of Russells Point, died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, in her home.
She was born in Allen Center, Union County, on May 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Richard Ira and Anna Belle Comer Cline.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa "Terri" (Scott) Berger of Dayton; granddaughter, Bailey Berger; brother, Richard (Linda) Cline of Urbana; and a niece, Candy (Rick) Sizemore of Urbana.
She retired from the United Telephone Company and was a member of the Indian Lake Elks Lodge 2792 and Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533.
The Rev. Bryan Meadows conducts a funeral at 1 p.m. Monday at Sanford-Eichholtz Funeral Home, Lakeview, where calling is two hours prior. Interment is in Broadway Cemetery, Broadway.

Stanley F. "Dutch" Freshour
Stanley F. "Dutch" Freshour of DeGraff, Ohio, responded to the "All Aboard" from the Conductor for his final train ride and has entered the heavenly depot to a welcoming committee of family, friends, and, most of all, a long-awaited "Well Done" by none other than the Master Himself, his Lord Jesus Christ.
Born Feb. 26, 1916, in Waverly, Ohio, to the late Fletcher and Laura Murphy Freshour, he was the last surviving member in a family of nine children.
He was married in Waverly, Ohio, Aug. 31, 1935, to Neva Gathel Boggs. They shared 68 years together before she preceded him to their Heavenly Father's house on May 12, 2004. They had one son, Eddie, who was also their Pastor for 33 years.
Dutch served in the Pacific Theater of Operations in WWII and spent 36 years on the D.T.&I. Railroad before retiring in 1976 as an engineer. He left a legacy of a praying man and touched the lives of so many with his sacrificial giving and great humor.
He leaves incredible memories to his remaining family: Eddie and Nancy Pencil Freshour, Rob and Debbie Freshour Cutlip, great-grandchildren Tiffani and Zachary Cutlip and a loving family at New Beginnings Community Church in DeGraff, where he was a charter member.
Dutch now joins his beloved "Gathel" and awaits the rest of his family. Before leaving, he promised to be waiting at the station and we look forward to joining him there.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff, where his son, Eddie, will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial is in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in New Carlisle.

Herschel Morris Jr.
Herschel Morris Jr., 74, of DeGraff, died at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
He was born in Greenville on Nov. 19, 1932, a son of the late Herschel and Lucile Poling Morris Sr.
On July 26, 1952, he married the former Phyllis Brown, and she survives, along with three sons, Mark Morris and fiancee Tenia McAnally of Anna, Steve (Margie) Hiestand of Rossburg and Craig (Joyce) Morris of Springboro; two daughters, Karen (Brad) Mueller of Sonora, Calif., and Diana (Gary) Armburster of McClure; 11 grandchildren, Kelli Burba, Kyle Morris, Ginger Strapp, Gregg Armburster, Clint Armburster, Ursyla Mueller, Steven Mueller, Cory Hiestand, Jami Hiestand, Tristan Morris and Trevor Morris; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kelli Strapp, Hallie Strapp, Joey Strapp, Whitney Strapp, Samuel Strapp, Zachary Armburster, Zoie Armburster, Daisy Armburster, Mason Armburster and Kaisen Burba.
A brother, Robert Morris, preceded him in death.
He was a retired maintenance worker who was employed with Copeland Corp. for 46 years.

Frederick David Smith
Frederick David Smith, 58, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at his home in Dahlonega, Ga.
He was born in Dayton on Dec. 29, 1948, a son of Mary Florence Dana Smith and Richard Allen Smith.
On Nov. 1, 1978, he married Char Ann Jones and she survives, along with her daughter, Wendy, and two grandchildren; brothers, Allen (Phyllis) of Navarre, Fla., and John (Susanna) of Jackson, Tenn.; a sister, Virginia McGarry of Lummi Island, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
A 1967 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.
At his request, his body will be cremated and no service will be conducted.
Donald Merritt Heminger
Donald Merritt Heminger, 79, of Bellefontaine, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, in Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born in Logan County on April 19, 1928, a son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Leatha Merritt Shivler Heminger. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Heminger, and a sister, Martha Louise Norviel.
On March 30, 1949, he married the former J. Joan Baughman in Newport, Ky., and she survives, along with a son, Donald Lynn Heminger of Newark; daughter, Margie Sue (William) Nichols of Bellefontaine; brothers, Howard Heminger of Bellefontaine, Herman (Jimmie) Heminger of Boyce, La., and Leo (Donna) Heminger of West Liberty; sister, Verna Mae Roush of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Gregory, Matthew, Justin and Dustin Nichols; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A self-employed cabinet maker, he owned Don’s Cabinet Shop when he lived in Mesa, Ariz. He formerly was employed with the F.N. Johnson Co. and Super Foods. A member of the Indian Lake Baptist Church, he was a former member of the Logan County Sheriff’s Auxiliary and enjoyed traveling and the West.
A funeral begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Chalres E. Wilkinson
Charles E. Wilkinson, 85, of Bellefontaine, died at 7:02 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Logan Acres.
Born on March 17, 1922, in St. Paris, he was a son of the late George and Minerva Wilkinson. He married Mary B. Lawson on April 12, 1946, and she preceded him in death Jan. 30, 1997.
A diesel mechanic, he was a World War II army veteran, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include two sons, Charles B. Wilkinson and Kenneth J. Wilkinson Sr., both of Bellefontaine; two grandsons, Kenny Wilkinson Jr. and Johnny Ball, both of Bellefontaine; and a sister, Maud Popp of Lakeview.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jennifer L. and Mary.
Per Mr. Wilkinson’s request, his body will be cremated and no services conducted. Sanford-Eichholtz Funeral Home in Lakeview is in charge of arrangements.
Mabel L. "Sally" McCarty
Mabel L. "Sally" McCarty, 90, of Lakeview, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
She was born in Champaign County on July 19, 1917, a daughter of the late Augustus and Bessie C. Cochran Watson. On July 18, 1936, she married Monroe S. McCarty who preceded her in death.
She then married George E. "Ed" McCarty on June 8, 1952, and he died Nov. 28, 1993. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Watson; and four sisters, Mildred Aultman, Helen Mae Watson, Betty Ruth Couch and Cleo Virginia Weatherhead.
Survivors include a son, Edmund (Caroline) McCarty of Tuscola, Texas; two daughters, Rosemary (Homer) Parsons of Dayton and Sharon (Thomas) Savage of Sanford, Va.; three grandsons, Leroy McCarty of Parker, Colo., and Joseph and Matthew Moon, both of Dayton; two granddaughters, Christina (Mike) Delka and Julie McCarty, both of Parker, Colo.; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Esther Coleman of Urbana; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
A member of the Jehovah's Witness congregation in Bellefontaine, she worked at Buckeye Rubber Products in Lima for 20 years. After retirement in 1980, she worked part time at Mr. R Seafood & Meats, Lakeview.
A funeral begins at noon Monday at Sanford-Eichholtz Funeral Home, Lakeview, where calling is two hours prior. Burial is in Kingscreek Cemetery.
