ELIZABETH TOOPS
Elizabeth Ann Toops, 79, Logan, died Friday, Feb. 11 in the skilled nursing unit at Hocking Valley Community Hospital following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 15, 1920, Mount Sterling, daughter of the late Enoch Sheridan and Lydia Fast Carter, she was the widow of Fred Toops, who died in 1973.
A homemaker, she was a member of Hocking County Farm Bureau. She was a Gold Star Mother.
Surviving are three sons, Nick Toops of Tarlton, Larry (Wanda) Toops of Logan and Jerry (Lee) Toops of Zaleski; five daughters, Maridel Toops of Logan, Mrs. Bill (JoAnne) Webb of Logan, Susan Giuliani of Steger, Ill, Mrs. Steve (Pamela) Venters of Delaware and Melinda Toops of Yellow Springs; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Toops of Logan.
She also was preceded in death by three sons, Francis, John and Russell Toops; a sister, Lucille Riley; and a grandson, Jerry Toops Jr.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roberts Funeral Home with Bill Carter officiating.
Burial will be in Armstrong cemetery, Starr Township, Hocking County.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
JESSE W. HILL JR.
Jesse W. "Bill" Hill Jr., 77, New Lexington, died Saturday, Feb. 12 at Providence Hospital, Sandusky.
Born May 26, 1922, New Lexington, son of the late Jesse and Nelle McCann Hill Sr., he was the widower of Rosetta F. "Boodge" Fackey Hill, who died July 5, 1999. The couple were married
for 55 years.
A U.S. Navy and Marine veteran during the occupation of Japan, he retired from Kroger Company after 45 years of service. He was a member of First Methodist Church of New Lexington, AMVETS MAL of Junction City, New Lexington Lodge 250 F&AM and New Lexington BPOE 509. He was a life member of John Tague Post 188 American Legion.
He also was the former Pike Township clerk and a former member of New Lexington Jaycees.
Surviving are four sons, Tim (Terri) Hill of New Lexington, Bill (Jeanne) Hill of Nelsonville, Tom (Mary) Hill of Somerset and Todd (Kim) Hill of Junction City; 15 grandchildren, Josh, Ted, Tim, Jacob, Ellen, Kathleen, Ben, Laura, Maggie, Sarah, Emily, Jesse, Cory, Molly and Hannah Rose Hill; two great-grandchildren, Mary Alex and Daniel Hill; four sisters-in-law, Mary E. Hill of Zanesville and Kathleen "Pat" Miller of Hamilton, Marian "Midge" Brosius of Hamilton and Mrs. Elmer (Joann) Fackey of Hamilton; and a brother-in-law, Charles "Butch" Fackey of Hamilton.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hill, and a sister, Elizabeth Murphy.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Roberts Funeral Home, New Lexington, with Father John Dreese officiating.
Burial will be in New Lexington cemetery.
Military graveside services will be conducted by John Tague Post 188 American Legion, New Lexington.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 Tuesday at the funeral home.
Masonic services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
BPOE services will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

DICK KING
Dick W. King, 55, Columbus, died Saturday, Feb. 12 at Mount Carmel Hospital East, Columbus.
Born Dec. 23, 1944, Des Moines, Iowa, son of the late John William and Dorothy Doyle King, he was married
to Judy K. Rollins King, who survives.
A U.S. Marine and Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he was a clerk for the state of Ohio.
Also surviving are two sons, Bill (Darla) Hemrick of St. Louis, Mo. and Andy (Joanie) Hemrick of Franklin, Ind.; a daughter, Angie Hemrick and her fiance Jeff Koon of Trenton, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry King of Florida and Nick R. King of Reynoldsburg; and two sisters, Jeneane King of Gillette, Iowa, and Dorothy Ceynar of Wyoming.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, John Leroy King.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark A. Bailey officiating.
Burial will be in Knollwood cemetery.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Veterans Organization of Hocking County.

JOSEPHINE LINSCOTT
Josephine Wilma Linscott, 82, Logan, formerly of Weston, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 13 at Logan Health Care Center following an extended illness.
Born Nov. 19, 1917, Diana, W.Va., daughter of the late Dale and Laura Mollahan Williams, she was married
to Robert Ellsworth Linscott, who survives.
She was a homemaker.
Also surviving are a son, Kenny Robert (Judy) Linscott; two daughters, Lucille Donaldson of Lancaster and Mrs. David (Irene) Travis of Logan; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Calvin Williams of Webster Springs, W.Va.; three sisters, Dora Williams of Cowen, W.Va., Lucille Williams of Craigsville, W.Va., and Betty Ward of Craigsville, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Perrine; four sons, Arthur Dale, Robert, Richard and Rolland Perrine; a sister, Phyllis Cutlip; a brother, Earl Williams; and a son-in-law, John Donaldson.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Dauber officiating.
Burial will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Good Hope Township, Hocking County.

WILMA ROSE
Wilma Rose, 73, Pataskala, died Friday, Feb. 11 at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
Born Nov. 7, 1926, Logan, daughter of the late Frank and Lulu Brown St. Clair, she was married
Oct. 4, 1966, to Patrick Rose, who survives.
A 1944 Logan High School graduate, she attended Webb Summit one-room school for eight years. She worked at the Hocking County Courthouse and was head librarian at Pataskala Public Library. She was a member of Pataskala United Methodist Church and Susanna Wesley Circle.
Also surviving are three sisters, Esther St. Clair of Columbus, Dorothy Ewers of Columbus and Mrs. John (Joan) Glick of Lancaster; three brothers, Clinton St. Clair of Logan, Edward (Opal) St. Clair of Logan and the Rev. Robert B. St. Clair of Lancaster; and 20 nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pataskala United Methodist Church with the Revs. John Ball and Robert St. Clair officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday.

GARY ALLEN
Gary R. Allen, 59, Adelphi, died Sunday, Feb. 13 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
Born May 14, 1940, Circleville, son of the late Raymond W. and Opal G. Spangler Allen, he was married
to Kay Allen, who survives.
He was retired from DuPont and was a member of Ohio High School Athletic Association, Trinity United Methodist Church, Adelphi Lodge 527 F&AM, Scottish Rite Commandry 002, Royal Arch Mason, Grand Council Royal and Select Mason, Order of the Amaranth 58 of Columbus, Eastern Star 411 in Kingston and White Shrine of Jerusalem of Mount Pleasant Shrine 57. He also was a past Supreme Royal Patron of Order of the Amaranth in 1997-98.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kim Allen of Circleville; two sons, Brian Allen of Adelphi and Chad (Eileen) Allen of Mansfield; two sisters, Jane Allen of Laurelville and Sharon K. Spencer of Columbus; a nephew, Todd (Melody) Young and children, Brandy and Billy; a nephew, Brad (Susan) Young and children, Nikki, Dillon and Ridge; an uncle, Foster Spangler of California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mader-Peters Funeral Home, Circleville.
Burial will be in Green Summit cemetery, Adelphi.

ETHEL DUGGER
Ethel Mae Dugger, 61, Logan, died Monday, Feb. 14 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1939, Elkins, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Marie Lamb.
She was a Catholic by faith.
Surviving are a sister, Evangeline Dugger; a half brother, David Lamb; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Turbine.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at J. E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Shawnee.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery, New Straitsville.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and from noon until time of services Thursday.
MELVIN GOSS
Melvin Elmo Goss, 87, Rockbridge, died Tuesday, Feb. 15 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 12, 1913, Good Hope Township, Hocking County, son of the late William Ernest and Cordelia Rose "Della" Dupler Goss, he was married
to Marjorie Josephine Wooley Goss, who survives.
He had been a self-employed farmer and was a longtime member of West Pleasant Hill United Brethren in Christ Church.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ted (Beverly) McVey of Logan; five sons, Melvin P. (Linda) Goss of Rockbridge, Daniel A. (Sarah) Goss of Rockbridge, Rondel Parker (Mary Jeanne) Goss of Rushville, William McArthur (Rita) Goss of Newark and Harley E. (Barbara) Goss of Rockbridge; a brother, John E. (Ruth) Goss of Lancaster; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Susie) Mock of Logan; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond C., Reese T., Ralph E. and Willie A. Goss; and two sisters, Marie Sheets and Mary Householder.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernie Hammond officiating.
Burial will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Good Hope Township, Hocking County.

RUBY STANDIFORD
Ruby Ilo Bungard Standiford, 86, Lancaster, formerly of Logan, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Born Feb. 28, 1913, Falls Township, Hocking County, daughter of the late Samuel Ervin and Nellie Mae Price Bungard, she was the widow of Norwood F. "Noppy" Standiford.
A homemaker, she attended Hocking Hills Church of Christ.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Wilma Jean) Rheinscheld of Lancaster; a granddaughter, Mrs. James (Debbie) Baker of Lancaster; a grandson, David (Penny) Rheinscheld of Lancaster; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Hurley, Johnnie, Charles and Walter "Bus" Bungard; and three sisters, Alice L. Casto, Lulu Opal and Myrtle May Bungard.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Ken G. Mulpas officiating.
