Cecil A. Scott, 78, Logan, died Friday, Feb. 11 at Arcadia Acres Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 10, 1922, Vinton County, son of the late Linsey and Edith Sowers Scott, he was married
to Betty Hooker Scott, who survives.
A World War II Navy veteran, he retired from Carborundum after 25 years of service. He was a member of Logan Moose.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marty (Terry) Adcock of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Jason Adcock of Gilbert, Ariz., and Janel Adcock of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Marlee and Matthew Adcock of Gilbert, Ariz.; and a brother, William Scott of Columbus.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Larry Scott, and a brother, Roy Scott.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. Rob Dauber officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
DONALD G. WILLIAMS
Donald "Don" G. Williams, 66, Nelsonville, died Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Jan. 2, 1934, Nelsonville, son of the late Ralph H. and Mable Bingman Williams, he was married
for 46 years to Ruth Ann Tolliver Williams, who survives.
A 1954 graduate of Nelsonville High School, he was a retired carpenter for Local 356 of Marietta. He was a member of Philodorian 157 Masonic Lodge in Nelsonville.
Also surviving are a son, Brent S. (Linda) Williams of Logan; two daughters, Mrs. Tommy (Teresa) Tedrow of The Plains and Mrs. Roger (Karen) Bail of Albany; six grandchildren, Valerie, Tara, Jill, Lindsay, Nick and Brad; two sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Shirley) Robinette of Nelsonville and Mrs. Cecil (Rita) Neel of Nashport; a brother-in-law, Paul Kasler of Nelsonville; a mother-in-law, Wilma Tolliver of Nelsonville; and two sisters-in-law, Pam Francis of Texas and Joan Knecht of Russellville, Ky.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Kasler; an infant sister, Ruth Williams; a father-in-law, Bert Tolliver; and a brother-in-law, Nelson Studer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. David Roach officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville.

NELLE BARBER
Nelle G. Barber, 102, Nelsonville, died Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Pine Hills Continuing Care Center, Nelsonville.
Born Nov. 28, 1897, Nelsonville, daughter of the late George and Mary Ann Donahue Ceope, she was the widow of Clifford Barber.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Nelsonville.
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

MARGARET BUSCH
Margaret Herlan Busch, 74, Westerville, died Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Riverside Hospital, Columbus.
Born Aug. 30, 1925, Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Gertrude Herlan.
She lived in Buffalo, N.Y. for much of her life, and also in Logan, Tiffin, Cincinnati and Columbus. She proudly received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio University in 1975. He flair for language showed in her writing, reading and love of games and crossword puzzles.
She helped with many of her children's activities, serving as a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader and Sunday School teacher. She loved gardening, sewing and crafts, particularly beads and designing jewelry.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Evan (Dot) Christopher; children and grandchildren, Fred Busch and children, Tayna Ramos, with her son, Anthony; and Andy; Eric and Susan Busch and children, Karl and Kathy; Myra Bush Goetz and son, Jacob Goetz; former husband, John Busch; and several loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Laurice Herlan.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. April 28 at Innis House at Inniswood Metro Gardens, 940 S. Hempstead Road, Westerville.

CLYDE CAMPBELL
Clyde H. Campbell, 78, Sugar Grove, died Wednesday, Feb. 16 at his residence.
He was married
for 61 years to Edna Campbell, who survives.
He retired as a section foreman for B&O Railroad in Sidney after 13 years. He was former owner of Campbell's Nursing Home in Sugar Grove. He attended Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are three sons, Junior Campbell of Sugar Grove, Richard L. (Shirley) Campbell of Lancaster and Dennis (Cheryl) Campbell of Lancaster; two daughters, Marjorie Fraley of Fayetteville, N.C. and Barbara McDowell of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence (Dorothy) Campbell of Maple Wood, Darold (Edith) Campbell and Albert Saunders, both of Sidney, and Mike Saunders of Logan; and four sisters, Anna Mae Neal of Lake Wales, Fla., Betty Props and Mrs. Don (Mable) Wilson, both of Logan, and Nellie Reainer of Indiana.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Sheridan Funeral Home, Lancaster, with the Rev. Donald Cummans officiating.
Burial will be in Stukey cemetery, Sugar Grove.

JAMES CARPENTER SR.
James H. Carpenter Sr., 60, Logan, died Friday, Feb. 18 at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
Born July 11, 1939, Nelsonville, son of Rosemary Green Averill of Logan and the late George E. Carpenter, he was married
to Loueva Gilkey Carpenter, who survives.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a painter for Colors, Inc. in Columbus. He attend Union Furnace Methodist Church and was a member of Athens HOG Chapter.
Also surviving are two sons, James (Liz) Carpenter of Georgia and Fred (Brenda) Carpenter of Logan; two stepsons, Tony Mouser of Colorado and Craig Mouser of Lancaster; three daughters, Pam Carpenter of Georgia, Mrs. Bob (Ivana) Lambert of Alabama and Mrs. Kerry (Ginger) Carpenter of Georgia; 26 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Chris (Denise) Averill of Florida; special cousins, Mike (Brenda) and Tony (Connie) Burch; several other cousins and aunts; special friends, Dave Boley, Mary Dotson and Dr. David Cummin; a sister-in-law, Linda English of Logan; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Gilkey of Athens and William Durfee of Athens.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. Stephen Gideon officiating.

WANDA HOPKINS
Wanda G. Hopkins, 57, Logan, died Friday, Feb. 18 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born April 12, 1942, Jackson County, daughter of the late Walker and Mary Fulk Johnson, she was married
to George Hopkins, who survives.
She was a member of Logan Holiness Church and Logan Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
Also surviving are a son, Justin Hopkins; two daughters, Nicole and Amber Hopkins; three stepchildren, nine step grandchildren; four brothers, John (Marylyn) Canter of Jackson, Fred (Betty) Canter of Oak Hill, Simon (Jerry) Canter of Washington Court House and Billy (Julia) Simmonds of Hilliard; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Lena) King of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a stepson and fiance Marty (Tina) Hopkins; a brother, Walter Eugene Johnson; and two sisters, Dorothy L. McGuire and Virgie E. Leonard.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with Scott Heskett officiating.
Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville.

CLAUDE BURNS
Claude T. Burns, 83, Logan, died Friday, Feb. 18 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1916, South Bloomingville, son of the late Charles W. and Elma Chamberlin Burns, he was married
for 59 years to Beatrice Oldfield Burns, who survives.
A Benton Local High School graduate, he was a lifelong resident of Hocking County. He worked for 28 years at Sunglow. He retired from Carborundum after 10 years. He was a longtime farmer.
Also surviving are two sons, Tom (Kay) Burns of Laurelville and Rick (Ruby) Burns of Logan; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Charlotte) Brewster of Logan and Mrs. Ed (Janet) Looman of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herman Burns of New Plymouth.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Burns; a daughter, Barbara McGrass; and a sister, Nellie Thomas.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer Morris officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.

RUBY COZAD
Ruby Marie Cozad, 80, Logan, went to be with her Lord at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20 at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
Born Oct. 4, 1919, daughter of the late Denzle and Grace Bauserman Murphy, she was married
July 18, 1938, to Leonard Cozad, who survives.
She was a member of Kline Memorial Church in Enterprise and active in missions and the United Methodist Women.
Also surviving are a son, Donald (Judith) Cozad of Logan; two daughters, Mrs. Skip (Patricia) Rhoads and Mrs. Ken (Anita) Conner, all of Logan; nine grandchildren, Todd, Tamii, Tom, Heather, Josh, Jason, Shauna, Jayme and Kelsey; step-granddaughter, Allison; eight great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles Murphy of Georgia, Eugene Murphy of West Virginia, Marvin Murphy of Florida and Joe Murphy of California; and three sisters, Alberta Smith of West Virginia, Lucille Grisham of Cincinnati and Alma Carmichael of West Virginia.
She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Donald Troy Cozad; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Marissa Coakley; one brother; an infant brother; and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence M. Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in New Fairview cemetery, Rockbridge.

RICHARD HOY
Richard R. Hoy, 80, Shawnee, died Saturday, Feb. 19 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Born Nov. 8, 1919, New Straitsville, he was the son of the late William and Mary Ridenour Hoy.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of New Straitsville VFW and Corning American Legion Post 327. He was an oil field worker and retired from Quaker State in Logan. He attended Shawnee United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, Richard R. Hoy II of Shawnee; a grandson, Richard R. Hoy III of New Straitsville; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two wives, Catherine M. Worthington Hoy and Margaret DeVol Hoy; a son, Rickard W. Hoy; and two sisters, Catherine Brunton and Mary Hoy.
Private family services will be held with the Rev. Samford Short officiating.
Burial will be in Millertown cemetery near Corning.
No calling hours will be observed.
