ROBERT DAVID KUHN
Robert David Kuhn, 55, Logan, died Saturday, March 25 at his residence following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 30, 1944, Laurel Township, Hocking County, son of the late John Forman and Anna Margaret McBride Kuhn, he was married
to Sandra Sue Weaver Kuhn, who survives.
He has been a guidance counselor at Tri-County Joint Vocational School in Nelsonville for 28 years, from 1972 to the present. He received his bachelor's degree in math and social studies in 1967 and a master's degree in counseling in 1972, both from Ohio University. He formerly taught at Reemelin High School at the Fairfield School for Boys in Lancaster from 1968 to 1972.
He was a former troop committee chairman for St. John Boy Scout Troop 571, St. John Catholic Church. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, where he served as chair of the Scouting committee, extraordinary minister of the Holy Eucharist, church greeter, altar server and former member of Parish Council.
In Kuhn's community involvement, he was chair of the Hocking County Youth Advisory Board for Hocking County Juvenile Court for 11 years. In this capacity, the board has advised and assisted the court in developing a variety of programs to help youth and families in the areas of education, substance abuse and in individual and family counseling.
He also served as president of the Advisory Board for Hocking Valley Community Residential Center. In this capacity, he has touched youth from all of southeastern Ohio. Programs were developed to enable youth to complete their education.
He was a member of Knights of St. James Council 2299, where he served as financial secretary for 15 years; youth chairman for 11 years; chairman of the annual free throw contest conducted for elementary school students; chairman of the annual veterans recognition cookout committee; chairman or co-chairman for all the Knights of Columbus food service events, including the former weekly Bingo nights and all recent parish festivals; handled all disbursement of Measure-Up funds; co-chairman of the Mini Grant program; and member of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus of the Bishop Fenwick No. 0812 Assembly in Lancaster, where he had served in many 4th Degree Honor Guards.
He was named Knight of the Year in 1999 by Knights of Columbus. On Feb. 28, Kuhn was presented a plaque by Logan-Hocking School District Board of Education in honor of his tireless dedication to the handicapped children and other youth of Hocking County.
Also surviving are a son, Lt. Michael Robert (Megan) Kuhn of Fort Campbell, Ky.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Kelly Susan) Stolz of Xenia; and three brothers, James T. Kuhn and special friend, Claudia Nihiser of Logan, John Edward (Donna) Kuhn of Rockbridge and Charles J. (Bonnie) Kuhn of Sugar Grove.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Kerry Ann Kuhn, who died in 1973, and a sister, Catherine Meyer.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Richard J. Pendolphi and Monsignors James A. Geiger and Edward L. Kessler officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Tuesday at Roberts Funeral Home.
Rosary services will be recited 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

JERRY L. MYERS JR.
Jerry L. Myers Jr., 36, Logan, died Saturday, March 25 from the result of a truck accident.
Born March 4, 1964, Portsmouth, son of the late Glennis Y. Bush Myers Harden, he was married
to Kathy Mohler Myers, who survives.
A 1982 Logan High School graduate, he was an employee of Logan Clay Products. A former member of Logan Jaycees and Logan Eagles, he volunteered with the downtown Christmas lights and the Santa House at Christmas time.
Also surviving are a son, Tim Myers of the home; a daughter, Clistie Myers of the home; a stepfather, Tim Harden of Logan; a brother and his family, James "Jimbo" (Daisy) Harden and children, Caleib, Hayleigh, Kelsey and Kcsey, all of Logan; a sister and her family; Mrs. John (Brenda) Heidlebaugh and sons, Chad and Jeremy Slack, all of Logan; a father- and mother-in-law, Eugene and Connie Mohler of Logan; a brother-in-law and his family, Steve (Kris) Mohler and daughters, Alexis and Allyson, all of Logan.
He also was preceded in death by a special uncle, Bob Bush.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce C. Livingstone officiating.
Burial will be in Knollwood cemetery.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family in attendance from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

HAROLD R. SATER
Harold R. Sater, 83, Lancaster, died Friday, March 24 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Son of the late Willis and Golda Sater, he was married
to Maxine Sater, who survives.
A World War II Army veteran, he was self-employed in the auto body repair business for several years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Lancaster.
Also surviving are two daughters, Beverly A. Sater of Cleveland and Barbara L. Sater of San Francisco, Calif.; a son, Roger Sater of Lancaster; a brother, David (Rita) Sater of Lancaster; two aunts, Faye Nihiser of Logan and Mary Helber of Enterprise; an uncle, Everett Sater of Logan; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Guy and Fran Watkins.
He also was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and John Dutrow.
Cremation has taken place and no calling hours will be observed.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

WHITNEY SUE RUTTER
Whitney Sue Rutter, infant daughter of Roger Rutter and Debbie Washington, both of Glouster, died Saturday, March 25 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hilltop cemetery, Millfield, with James Osborne officiating.
Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster.
JAMES RUSSELL VANDAGRIFF
James Russell Vandagriff, 76, Logan, died Monday, March 27 at Logan Health Care Center.
Born April 29, 1923, Logan, he was the son of the late Harley James and Hazel Kennedy Vandagriff.
Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. today at Green Summit cemetery, Adelphi.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of services today at the cemetery.
Arrangements are by Roberts Funeral Home.
MAUDE N. COUPIE
Maude N. Coupie, 88, died Tuesday, March 28 at Grant/Riverside Hospital, Columbus.
Born in Hocking County, she was the last survivor of George and Inez Anthony's 10 children.
She was the widow of Louie Coupie.
A Logan High School graduate, she spent the majority of her adult life in Midland, Mich., where she was a member of St. Bridgid Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella.
After the death of her husband, she returned to Ohio, making her home with her nephew, John A. McVey of Columbus.
Surviving are two nephews, John A. McVey and James (Marilyn) Young of Worthington; and several other nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Louis A. Coupie.
A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Columbus, at a later date.
No calling hours will be observed.

RUBY A. FAST
Ruby A. Fast, 67, Laurelville, died Wednesday, March 29 at the home of her son, Mick, in Logan.
Born Oct. 12, 1932, Gibisonville, daughter of the late Howard Anderson and Aurdis Helber-Karr, she was the widow of Paul E. Fast, who died in 1988.
She was Laurel Township Trustee for 16 years. She was the first woman township trustee in Ohio. Her father was township trustee in Perry Township at the same time, making them the first father-daughter trustees in Ohio.
She was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Gibisonville and Ladies Aid of the church. She was a former member of Gibisonville Recreation Center committee and Mount Olive cemetery Association. She was a past member of the Republican Central Committee and Republican Women.
Surviving are three sons, Paul "Rick" (Linda) Fast of Laurelville and Michael "Mick" Fast and Larry (Becky) Fast, both of Logan; four grandchildren, Jason, Rachel, Julie and Ashlee Fast; four step-grandchildren, Stephanie Staten, Charles Staten II, Jennifer Arms and Tammy Hatem; seven great-grandchildren; six brothers, Ed (Louise) Anderson and David (Vickie) Anderson, both of South Bloomingville, William Anderson of Logan, Richard (Birma) Anderson of Rockbridge, John (Violet) Anderson of McArthur and Jeff (Cathy) Anderson of Laurelville; a sister, Mrs. Bob (Cleona) Willard of Rockbridge; a father-in-law, Walter Fast; a sister-in-law, Margaret Ruth Holbrook of Laurelville; a brother-in-law, Charles (Sharon) Fast of Laurelville; and several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a grandfather and grandmother who raised her, Charles and Cora Robinson; a mother-in-law, Ada Fast; and a brother, Fred Anderson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Gibisonville, with Pastor John Williams officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Olive cemetery, Gibisonville.

LT. COL. ROBERT DEE GABRIEL (USAR ret.)
Lt. Col. Robert Dee "Gabe" Gabriel, 56, Logan, passed away Wednesday, March 29 at Kobacker Hospice, Columbus, after a brief illness.
Born Oct. 26, 1943, Logan, son of the late Joe Montgomery and Bertha Ellen Schubert Gabriel, he was the husband of Roseanne Hansley Gabriel for 32 years, and the father of three.
He was the sales representative for Logan Clay Products for the last 10 years. He served six years as a Falls Township Trustee and was the owner of the "Colonel's Quarters" vacation cabins. Additionally, he actively served in a variety of civic, veteran and charity organizations.
He was a 1962 graduate of Logan High School and received a bachelor's degree from Capital University in 1986. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1998. He was a proud Vietnam veteran with more than 26 years on flight status as a distinguished U.S. Army Master Aviator. His military decorations include: The Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Medal with 20 Clusters and "V" device, The Meritorious Service Medal, The Army Commendation Medal, The Army Achievement Medal, The Army Good Conduct Medal, The Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with three oak clusters, The Armed Forces Reserve Medal with two hour glass devices, The National Defense Medal with bronze star, The Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, The Humanitarian Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
His decorated military service spanned four decades and included assignments as an Army helicopter pilot in the First Air Cavalry Division, Republic of South Vietnam; instructor pilot and tactical officer, Warrant Officer Flight School, Fort Wolters, Texas; Aerial Weapons Team Leader and Commander, Ohio Army National Guard; Liaison Officer, United States Military Academy, West Point; Operations Officer, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations and Plans, The Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
He remained an active voice and organizer for veterans and veteran functions in Hocking County as a member of the Lawrence Neil Helber American Legion Post 78, and Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association. Along with the entire Gabriel family he performed in the Hocking Valley Variety shows throughout the late 1960s and into the 1970s.
He was a member of the Logan Jaycees, past President and member of the Logan Rotary Club, served on the Tri-County Action Campaign Sharing the Harvest Committee, was active in the Clearing House Assistance Program (CHAP) and a member of the Hocking County Historical Society.
He was the voice of the LHS Marching Chieftains from 1989 to 1997, was involved in the LHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee and was a member of the Hocking County Tourism Association. He was a 50-year member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church where he was active in the church choir. He was former Hocking County Special Deputy Sheriff and NRA certified instructor.
Retired Lt. Col. Gabriel is survived by his wife, Roseanne (Hansley) Gabriel; two sons, Capt. Joseph (Nicole) Gabriel of Pickerington; and Staff Sgt. Ryan (Stacy) Gabriel of Logan; a daughter, Alison Elizabeth Gabriel of Ohio State University, Columbus; a granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Gabriel of Logan; two brothers, Joel S. Gabriel of Gahanna and Kris L. (Gloria) Gabriel of Logan; a mother-in-law, Ruth Hansley of Logan; two sisters-in-law, Sue (Todd) Hinerman and Kathy (Thomas) Gerken, both of Logan; a brother-in-law, John (Chris) Hansley of O'Fallon, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by a brother, Michael M. Gabriel, who died in 1993; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann (Kennedy) Gabriel; a father-in-law, Robert Hansley; and a brother-in-law, John Stallsmith.
Per Mr. Gabriel's request his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Gary K. Wheeler and Dave Harris officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home.

WAHNETA M. RAPP
Wahneta M. Rapp, 87, Jacksonville, died Tuesday, March 28 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville.
Born Feb. 19, 1913, Jacksonville, daughter of the late Harley and Laura Whitehair Wemmer, she was the widow of John A. Rapp, who died in 1981.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, with Pastor Jane Doughton officiating.
Interment will be in Maplewood cemetery, Glouster.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Eagles services will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
