Evelyn Marie Roberts, 80, Glouster, died Tuesday, March 28 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 27, 1919, Glouster, daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Hook Lunsford, she was the widow of Denzel Roberts.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster.
Interment will be in Glouster cemetery.

FRANCES E. SILVEY
Frances E. Silvey, 83, Zanesville, died Tuesday, March 28 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville.
Born Jan. 31, 1917, Duffield, Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Stella Fry Moore.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home, Murray City.
Burial will be in Hollister cemetery.

THELMA M. LEFFLER
Thelma M. Leffler, 80, Nelsonville, former resident of Haydenville and the Logan Hi-Rise, died Wednesday, March 29 at SunBridge Nursing Home, Lancaster.
Born Dec. 5, 1919, Haydenville, daughter of the late William and Gertie Lehman Bond, she was the widow of Phil Leffler, who died in 1984.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Carole) Gregg of Lancaster and Mrs. Paul (Phyllis) Sparks of Nelsonville; four grandchildren, Mrs. Pastor Kurt (Krystal) Luebkeman of Canal Winchester, Mrs. Rick (Terry) Needles of Columbus, Michelle Rice of Lancaster and Kenny Gregg of Lancaster; three great-grandchildren, Keith "Buddy" Rice and Isaiah and Victoria Luebkeman; a sister-in-law, Christina Leffler of Union Furnace; and a special cousin, Florence "Poots" Reeves of Columbus.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Murl Bond, and a sister, Helen Pickett.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Kurt Luebkeman officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Nelsonville.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday with the family in attendance from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
REED C. DAVIE
Reed C. Davie, 74, Logan, died unexpectedly Friday, March 31 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born July 28, 1925, New Lexington, son of the late Chris and Dorothy Evans Davie, he was married
to Marilyn Wagner Davie, who survives.
He was a licenses real estate broker and insurance agent, having co-owned the Davie Insurance and Real Estate Inc., of Logan.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Charles J. Kimmel. He served in both the European and Pacific Theatres during World War II.
He attended the University of Chicago and was a member of Mingo Lodge 171 F&AM, Scottish Rite of Columbus, Aladdin temple and a charter member of the Hocking Hills Shrine Club. He was a life member of Logan VFW and a member of Logan Moose Lodge 873.
Also surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Chris) Balderson of Columbus, Mrs. P.D. (Debbie) Popp of Grove City, Mrs. Ralph (Julie) Taylor of Logan, Mrs. Bill (Dottie) Miller of Logan, Mrs. Dan (Laura) Keysor of Sanford, Fla. and Mrs. Kelly (Tracey) Adams of Logan; a sister, Ann Link of Columbus; an aunt, Marie "Mickey" Davie of Logan; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ann and Ralph Watts of London; 14 loving grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Robin Balderson, and an uncle, Charles L. Davie.
No funeral services will be held.
Private burial services will be held at the convenience of the family in New Lexington cemetery.

Masonic services will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Edith I. Jones, 64, Laurelville, died Friday, March 31 at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
Born July 25, 1935, Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth Burgoon Garrett.
She was a member of Eagles 685 Auxiliary, VFW Post 8657 Auxiliary, White Feather Pocahontas, Dairy Maids, two euchre clubs and an honorary member of Laurelville Fire Department and charity fund-raiser.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Garrett; a sister, Arlene Thompson; and a son-in-law, Jack McNichols.
Surviving are three sons, Rick Jones of Laurelville, Robert Jones of Gallipolis and Mark (Tammy) Jones of Laurelville; two daughters, Sherry (Kenny Tatman) Jones of South Bloomingville and Mrs. Paul (Brenda) Hart of South Bloomingville; four grandchildren, Mrs. Nathan (Summer) Darnell, Brandon McNichols, Brittney McNichols and Joni Tatman; four step-grandchildren, Jesse, Joshua and Pete Shell and Steven Lemaster; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Pauline) Mullins of Columbus and Mrs. David (Ruby) Spackey and Kay (Letha) Garrett, both of South Bloomingville; seven brothers, Roy Garrett, Clyde (Kathy) Garrett, Claude (Betty) Garrett, Roger (Ruth Ann) Garrett and Ernest (Dee) Garrett Jr., all of South Bloomingville and Jay Garrett and Robert (Karen) Garrett, both of Laurelville; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Garrett of Grove City; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends and relatives.

Mary Victoria Phelps Smith, 74, Logan, died Friday, March 31 at her residence following an extended illness.
Born Sept. 13, 1925, Logan, daughter of the late Parley Nash and Ethel Florence Myers Phelps, she was the widow of Glendon O. Smith Sr.
A homemaker, she was an avid animal lover and mushroom hunter. She attended Freedom Memorial Church and was a charter member of Logan Eagles Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son, Glendon O. Smith Jr. of Logan; five daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Barbara A.) Vorhees and Mrs. Robert (Karen J.) Cupp, Mrs. Stony (Vicki S.) Joy and Mrs. Robert (Sandra J.) Hedges, all of Logan, and Mrs. Mike (Judy K.) Wisby of Phoenix, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy N. Phelps of San Diego, Calif. and Phil (Sandy) Phelps of Carroll; three sisters, Leota Wachenschwantz of Logan, Mrs. Clarence (June) Angle of Bremen and Betty Bateman of Evanston, Wyo.; and a special friend, Alyce Roach of Logan.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Mae Phelps and two brothers, Theodore and Henry Mark Phelps.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. David G. White officiating.

William Bowens, 82, Nelsonville, died Saturday, April 1 at Pine Hills Continuing Care Center, Nelsonville.
Born Nov. 20, 1917, Athens County, son of the late Albert and Ada Barnhart Bowens, he was the widower of Margaret Wolfe Bowens.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating.
Interment will be in Green Lawn cemetery, Nelsonville.

Born May 9, 1917, Columbus, he was the son of the late Henry Clay and Hattie Alma Molar Shafer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Glouster, with Father John Mucha officiating.
Interment will be in the Queen of Heaven cemetery, Trimble.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.

RUSSELL LEE HAMILTON
Russell Lee "Blackie" Hamilton, 77, Logan, died Tuesday, April 4 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Nov. 22, 1922, Perry County, son of the late Iddo and Nellie Miller Hamilton, he was the widower of Gladys Irene Pierson Hamilton.
He retired from Rockwell International in 1987. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Londa Hamilton and Sharon Burgess, both of Logan, and a granddaughter, Susan Woods of Hide-A-Way Hills.
He also was preceded in death by three sisters; seven brothers; and a stepson.
Military graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove cemetery.
At Mr. Hamilton's request no calling hours will be observed.
Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan.
