ROY W. SMITH
Roy W. Smith, 81, Nelsonville, died Friday, July 14 at his residence.
Born Nov. 20, 1918, Carbondale, son of the late Jesse and Grace Doolittle Smith, he was the widower of Lenore M. Schultz Smith who died Sept. 3, 1998.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was retired from Ohio University. A Logan High School graduate, he was a truck driver and mechanic for the former Koker Distributing Co. of Nelsonville.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Homer (Judith Ann) Farrell of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Becky Spires and Christopher and Thomas Farrell, all of Lancaster; three great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; two sisters, Lorraine Hutchins and Nedra Smith, both of Logan; a niece, Linda Wells of Texas; a nephew, Wes Hutchins of Thornville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hubert Stage of Nelsonville; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Schultz of Nelsonville.
He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Bols, Lois Anderson and Rosmond Smith.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Harold McConnell officiating.
Burial will be in Asbury cemetery, Hocking County.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.

JULIA A. WHEELER
Julia A. Wheeler, 37, Logan, died Saturday, July 15 at her residence after a long battle with breast cancer.
Born Sept. 26, 1962, Piqua, daughter of Glenn E. and Carol Ann Gish Devers of Piqua, she was married to the Rev. Gary K. Wheeler, who survives.
As a Piqua High School student, she was active as a majorette, playing in the band and orchestra, singing in numerous choirs and many stage productions. She attended the University of Dayton and graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky. with a bachelor of science degree in education. She then taught elementary school for two years.
For the last nine years, she has been an independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics, earning two free cars and becoming a sales director in 1997. She was recognized many times for her commitment and example in her profession, including being named "Miss Go Give" for September 2000.
She also served with her husband in United Methodist Churches in Versailles, Ky., Macon, Ga., Sidney, Ohio and at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Logan since 1995, where she sang in the choir and as a soloist. She also taught Sunday school and served as education chair and with Vacation Bible School.
Also surviving are two sons, Marty and Matthew Wheeler, both of the home; a sister, Mrs. Tom (Jeanne) Hill of Piqua; a brother-in-law; and several aunts, uncles and nieces.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Edwards officiating. Services also will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sidney First United Methodist Church with Dr. Carl Wiley officiating.
Private interment services will be held at Forest Hills cemetery, Piqua.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 today at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
The family suggests contributions be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 66 E. Hunter St., Logan Ohio 43138 or the Mary Kay Charitable Foundation, P.O. Box 799044, Dallas, Texas 75379-9044.

HYLAS A. HILLIARD
Hylas A. Hilliard, Upper Arlington and Hide-a-Way Hills,, died Sunday, July 16 at his residence.
He was married to Mary Lou Hilliard, who survives.
A former assistant attorney general, he was senior counsel at Buckley King and Bluso, and a longtime partner of Ray P. Drexel. He was past president of Hide-a-Way Hills Club, downtown Kiwanis Club of Columbus, Ohio State University Alumni Chapter of Delta Chi Fraternity, Ohio Land Title Association, Mid-Ohio Lender's Counsel Association, Central Ohio Title Association and Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation.
Hilliard also was a member of Franklin, Hocking and Fairfield County Bar associations, Ohio State Bar Association, American Land Title Association, Lawyers Club, Franklin County Trial Lawyers Association, Ohio Association of Attorney Generals, Scioto Boat Club, Columbus Power Squadron, Goodale Lodge F&AM, Aladdin Shrine Club, Northwest Shrine Club, Press Club of Ohio, Covenant Presbyterian Church and the Ohio State University Alumni Association.
He was a former board member and counsel to Buckeye Federal Savings and Loan Association, and was a major in the U.S. Army, South Pacific Theater during World War II.
Also surviving are three sons, James, Thomas and Richard Hilliard; three daughters-in-law, Judy, Alice and Sunshine; 11 grandchildren; a stepsister, Delores Dalton and her son Kevin Dalton; and three stepchildren, Roberta, James and Thomas Tandy.
There will be a private memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Downtown Kiwanis Club Foundation, 1375 W. Lane Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43221; Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229-3095; or Hospice at Grant and Riverside hospitals, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214.
Arrangements are by O.R. Woodyard Co., 2990 Bethel Road, Columbus.

ROY CLOUSTON
Roy E. Clouston, 58, Logan, died Tuesday, July 18 at his residence.
Arrangements by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home are incomplete.

ANDREW SMILES
Andrew Smiles, 55, Canton, died Friday, July 14 at Canton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born February 1, 1945, England, he was married to Christine Smiles, who survives.
He was an assistant Innkeeper at Glenlaurel Inn of Rockbridge. His passion in life was the game of soccer, he was an All-American soccer player for two years at Ohio University where he received his engineering degree. He played competitively with lads 25 years his junior as recent as last fall. He also was an accomplished furniture maker.
Also surviving are his parents, two sons and two brothers.
A memorial service was held at Glenlaurel on Monday.

Those of us who worked and played with Andrew, will cherish the memories of his spirited energy and uplifting ways for the rest of our lives. Those of you who did not know him missed a giant of a man.

ESTHER ST. CLAIR
Esther E. St. Clair, 89, Columbus, died Tuesday, July 18 at Whestone Care Center, Columbus.
Born April 2, 1911, Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lulu Brown St.Clair.
Retired as office manager for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, she was a member of Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church, Associate member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of Lorraine Chapter O.E.S., graduated from Logan High School in 1929 and was a graduate of Office Training School in Columbus.
Surviving are two brothers, Edward and Clinton St. Clair, both of Logan; two sisters, Dorothy Ewers of Columbus and Mrs. (Rev.) John (Joan) Glick of Lancaster; a brother-in-law, Patrick Rose of Pataskala; and longtime friend, Ida Rosser.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Harley St. Clair; and three sisters, Helen Weller, Ruth St. Clair and Wilma Rose.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Cardaras Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert B. St. Clair officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

WINFIELD H. WALKER
Winfield Harlan "Buddy" Walker, 71, New Straitsville, died Tuesday, July 18 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, after an extended illness.
Born March 30, 1929, Logan, son of the late Winfield Lester and Edytha Katherine (Lehman) Walker, he was married to Ruby P. (Scott) Walker of Logan, who survives.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a former member of the IOOF in Logan for over 50 years, a 1946 Logan High School graduate and was retired as shipping foreman from General Clay Products Diamond Plant after 43 years of service.
Also surviving are a son, Steven J. Walker of Logan; a daughter, Mrs. Gary S. (Susan E.) June Jr. of New Straitsville; two grandchildren, Jessica and Stacy Walker of Logan; a brother, Dale C. (Retha F.) Walker of Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Lester Walker.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon West officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, New Lexington.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Veterans of Hocking County.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Thursday at the funeral home.

ROY CLOUSTON
Roy E. Clouston, 58, Logan, died Tuesday, July 18 at his residence.
Born Jan. 28, 1942, Haydenville, son of the late John and Edna Bridge Clouston, he was married for 36 years to Lois L. Davis Clouston, who survives.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he graduated from Nelsonville High School in 1960, was owner/operator of Equipment Marketing Service dealing in construction equipment and attended Shepherd of the Valley United Brethren in Christ Church. His life was his wife, children, grandchildren, his dogs, work and golf.
Also surviving are a son, Brian (Cara) Clouston of Canal Winchester; a daughter, Mrs. Alan (Jennifer) Starkey of Reynoldsburg; five grandchildren, Carl Alan Starkey, Matthew Brian, Zachary Keith, and Emily Lynn Clouston, and Angela Marie Taylor; a brother, John L. (Diane) Clouston of Junction City, Ariz.; four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Judy) Backus of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Carl (Sharon) Jackson of Payson, Ariz., Janice Clouston of Lancaster, and Mrs. David (Lisa) Kline of Carbon Hill; a stepsister, Patricia Ray of Lancaster; and two special friends, Elmer Berry of Waynesville, N.C., and Larry Jarvis of Logan.
He also was preceded in death by his stepmother, Gertrude Clouston; a stepbrother, James Ray; a sister, Rosemary Vasko; and a stepsister, Lois Gibbons.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Stull officiating.
Burial will be in Knollwood cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to Appalachian Community Hospice, 282 E. State St., Athens, Ohio 45701.

MARGARET INBODEN
Margaret G. Nichols Inboden, 79, Logan, died Wednesday, July 19 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born April 24, 1921, Jackson, daughter of the late Steve Click and Amanda Nichols Bethel, she was the widow of Atlee W. Inboden who died Oct. 17, 1978.
A member of New Hope United Methodist Church, she also was a member of United Methodist Women of the Church, and a longtime member of the former Bethany-Webb Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was director of the Bible School for many years. She also was a foster grandparent.
Surviving are two sons, Alan Inboden of Virginia Beach, Va. and Steve Inboden of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Martha McGlothlin of Logan; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Georgia Shook and Geraldine Schwanger, both of Coalton, Edith Freeman of Jackson and Mrs. Ralph (Rose) Ray of Toledo; and a son-in-law, Gary McGlothlin of Logan.
She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, Art Bethel; a son, Jeffrey Inboden; a daughter, Nancy McGlothlin; two grandchildren, Andy and Anna Jean McGlothlin; two brothers, Joe Benson and Don Click; a sister, Virginia Jenkins; a son-in-law, Jerald McGlothlin; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Inboden.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Carolyn Hoskinson officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Friday at the funeral home.
