Albert John Wells Jr., 78, Logan, died Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born July 29, 1922, Newton, Ill., son of the late Albert John and Eva Harris Wells Sr., he was the widower of Maude Luella Conner Wells.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove cemetery.
Military services will be conducted by the Combined Veterans of Hocking County.
No calling hours will be observed.

BETTY J. HARTMAN
Betty J. Hartman, 82, Logan, died Saturday, Aug. 12 at Logan Health Care Center.
Born Oct. 19, 1917, Lancaster, daughter of the late Clarence and Hester Hoy Getz, she was the widow of Floyd Hartman, who died May 31, 1993.
She was retired from Smead Manufacturing, a New Straitsville High School graduate and a member of St. Paulšs Episcopal Church.
Surviving are a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merle and Pauline Hartman of Logan; a best friend, Peggy Nixon of Logan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Oak Grove cemetery with Father Michael Jupin officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
The family suggests contributions be made to Fairfield Hospice, 1111 Main St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.

JOHN BRADFORD HOLT
John Bradford Holt, 81, South Bloomingville, died Tuesday, Aug. 15 at his residence.
Born Jan. 21, 1919, Cleveland, son of the late John W. and Gertrude L. Walton Holt, he was married
for 50 years to Barbara Holt, who survives.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Logan, served in the 758th Railway Shop Battalion, U.S. Army, from 1943 to 1946 (two of those years were in India), was a graduate of Park School in Cleveland and Cleveland Heights High School, attended Cornell University, and was a graduate from Case/Western University in 1951 with a degree in engineering administration.
Throughout his varied career, he maintained a love of trains. In the 1940s he and a friend bought a narrow-gauge steam engine No. 8, which ran on the Bridgeton and Harrison Railroad in Maine. They sold this engine to the Edaville Railroad in Massachusetts, and it now resides in the Maine Narrow Gauge Museum in Portland, Maine. After he and his wife moved to the Hocking Hills in 1986, he was an active volunteer on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad. He loved announcing over the trainšs PA system, interspersed with his favorite jazz music.
Also surviving are two sons, Gregory (Marianne) Holt of North Olmstead and Jonathan (Anna Marie) Holt of Maple Heights; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Stephanie) Larson of Lyndhurst; a granddaughter, Kelly Buchanan; a grandson, Christian Holt; and a special family friend, Richard Briggs.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Larry Hoffmann officiating.
The family will greet friends in the Westminster House of the Church after the memorial service.
The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Hocking County/Appalachian Community Hospice, 280 E. State St., Athens, Ohio 45701 or to a charity of onešs choice.

IVA LAVERNE BEGLEY
Iva Laverne Begley, 88, New Straitsville, died Thursday, Aug. 17 at Sunbridge of New Lexington Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 27, 1911, Shawnee, daughter of the late Charles and Iva Cochran Canter, she was the widow of James Begley.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Skillman of New Lexington; a son, Terry (Bunnie) Begley of Rockbridge; and two grandsons, Kris and Travis Begley, both of Rockbridge.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Canter.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Walnut Street, Shawnee, with the Rev. Harold Kellenbarger officiating.
Interment will be in Shawnee cemetery.
Friends may call anytime after noon today at the funeral home.
N. MYRTLE DAVIS
N. Myrtle Davis, 88, Lancaster, died Thursday, Aug. 17 at Rockmill Rehabilitation Centre, Lancaster.
Born Sept. 25, 1911, Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Etta I. Steele Davis.
A South Bloomingville High School graduate, she was a fire tower operator for the state of Ohio. She was a member of Olivedale Senior Citizens of Lancaster and Wesley Chapel Church. She attended Faith Memorial Church.
Surviving are a sister, Florence Olive Davis of Lancaster; nieces and nephews, Bobbie Dean (Janet) Davis of Creola, Don L. (Marjorie) Davis of Logan, James K. (Jan) Davis of Brookville, Clark E. (Mary) Davis of Lancaster and Mrs. Robert O. (Marilyn) Jepsen of Canal Winchester; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert P. Davis, and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Truax officiating.
Burial will be in New Fairview cemetery, Rockbridge.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 today and 1 p.m. until time of services Sunday at the funeral home.

PEGGY R. BLOSSER
Peggy R. Blosser, 39, Hollister, died Saturday, Aug. 19 at Doctors North Hospital, Columbus.
Born Sept. 2, 1960, she was the daughter of Willowbee Rutter Craig of Hollister and the late Gilbert E. Mehl.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, Murray City.
Burial will be at Hilltop cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
ERRA LYNN ADKINS
Erra Lynn Adkins, infant daughter of James D. and Kendra Perry Adkins of Logan, died Friday, Aug. 18 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
She was born, Aug. 18.
Also surviving are one sister, Kaitlyn E. Adkins of the home; maternal grandparents, Delbert Perry and Becky Harris of Logan and Phillip and Mary Stanley of Mississippi; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Bonnie Stover of Amesville; maternal great-grandmothers, Mary Perry and Mary Acord of McArthur; and paternal great-grandmother, Jane Summers of Glouster.
She also was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Gerald F. Adkins II.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Grove cemetery, Logan.
No calling hours will be observed.

WILLIAM BRYAN BROWN
William Bryan "BB" Brown, 64, Logan, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 18 at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
Born May 23, 1936, Lenore, W.Va., son of the late Jasper Lee and Mattie Kozee Sheppard Brown, he was married
to Helen Faye Boone Brown, who survives.
He was a retired railroad conductor for CSX Railway for 20 years; an avid musician, having performed in various southeast Ohio communities; a U.S. Army veteran; and a member of the Church of God.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Juanita Faye) Brandon of Logan; three sons, William Ben (Cindy) Brown of Logan, Jack Creighton (Misty) Brown of Geneva and Joe Bryan (Shelly) Brown of Lancaster; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elmer (Patricia Lorene) Brumfield of Logan; a brother, Joe Arlen (Lorene) Brown of Logan; a sister, Mrs. Conrad (Betty Joan) Sheppard of London; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph N. Cordle and Pastor Rodger Parrish officiating.

MILES W. CONN
Miles W. "Bill" Conn, 67, Haydenville, formerly of Pickerington, died Saturday, Aug. 19 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Nov. 9, 1932, Des Moines, Iowa, son of the late Miles W. and Gladys Garrison Conn, he was married
to Ann Jesso Conn, who survives.

WAYNE MOCK
Wayne Mock, 87, Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Logan, died Thursday, Aug. 10.
Born Jan. 17, 1913, Hocking County, son of the late John Edward and Myrtle Mock, he was the widower of Mary Newman Mock, who died in 1993.
Surviving are four sisters-in-law, Jean Mock of Logan, Elizabeth Karshner and Imogene Newman, both of Buchtel and Vera Newman of Nelsonville; close friends, Delmer "Bud" (Pat) Yunt and Helen Dillinger of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Mock.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Gary Carlson officiating.
Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville.

RYAN B. RISCH
Ryan B. Risch, 10 months, died Saturday, Aug. 19 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Born Oct. 12, 1999, Gallipolis, she was the daughter of Ryan A. Risch of Somerset and Arica Mason of Somerset.
Also surviving are three sisters, Kendall Sigler of Logan and Cheyenne and Montana Mason of Lancaster; paternal grandparents, Harry and Linda Risch of Lancaster; paternal great-grandmother, Jean Carter of Rockbridge; maternal grandmother, Arla Trout of Somerset; maternal grandfather, Patrick Quinn of Somerset; and two aunts, Donita Blackstone of Thornville and Cara Risch of Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rockbridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Gordon Sullivan officiating.
Burial will be in New Fairview cemetery, Rockbridge.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the church.
