DOLORES NIXON
Dolores "Do" Nixon, 80, Buchtel, died Saturday, Aug. 26 in Nelsonville.
Born May 25, 1920, Buchtel, daughter of the late Ben and Ferne Bruce Wagner, she was the widow of Fred Nixon.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with Father John Mucha officiating.
Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A wake service will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

JOSEPH SPONDIKE
Joseph Spondike, 71, Glouster, died Thursday, Aug. 24 at Chillicothe Veterans Hospital.
Born June 17, 1929, Sharon, Pa., he was the son of the late Michael and Julia Pope Spondike.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster with John Wright officiating.
Interment will be in the Maplewood cemetery, Glouster.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard Unit, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ALLISON HARVEY RITTGERS
Allison Harvey "Alley" Rittgers, 64, Logan, died Saturday, Aug. 26 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Born April 19, 1936, Hocking County, son of the late Hugh William and Mildred Marie Jones Rittgers, he was married to Martha Love Rittgers, who survives. Retired from the Logan Carborundum Company after 26 years of service in the mold room, he was a retired Athens County Reclamation employee, worked many years at Grandyıs Muffler Shop in Logan, was a handyman specializing in lawn mower repair and was a member of the Logan Moose Lodge #873.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Russ (Teresa) Geil of Lancaster and Shelia M. Rittgers of Durham, N.C.; a grandson, Dustin Geil of Lancaster; two brothers, Terrence 'Mickey' (Helen) Rittgers and Harley (Mary Lee) Rittgers, both of Logan; two sisters, Mrs. Garry (Marlene) Roop of Logan and Goldie Servant of Phoenix, Ariz.; father-in-law, Pearl J. Mohler of Logan; an aunt, Nellie Stephenson of Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Snyder; and a brother, Ronald Rittgers.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. Dixie Bauman officiating.
Entombment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Good Hope Township, Hocking County.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 today at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Hocking County Unit, P.O. Box 944, Logan, Ohio 43138.

MARK ANTHONY ADAIR
Mark Anthony Adair, 28, Cortland, died Saturday, Aug. 26 at his grandmotherıs residence in Sugar Grove.
Born Nov. 12, 1971, Zanesville, he was the son of Allen E. and Rose M. Adair of Cortland.
A 1990 graduate from Lakeview High School, he worked at K-Mart Distribution Center and was a member of St. Roberts Catholic Church. He liked hunting and fishing trips, his music, movies and boating.
Also surviving are a son, Alec Christian Adair of Warren; two brothers, Troy (Anna) Adair and Brad (Sandy) Adair, both of Cortland; a sister, Tracey Adair of Cortland; and grandmothers, Thelma Adair of Logan and Christina Kilbarger of Sugar Grove.
He also was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Allen Adair Sr. and Henry Kilbarger.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, Sugar Grove, with Msgr. James A. Geiger officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, Logan.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Sheridan Funeral Home, Lancaster.
Vigil service will be held 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

COLTON W. MALONE
Colton W. Malone, 60, Glouster, died Saturday, Aug. 26 at his residence.
Born Feb. 4, 1940, Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Donald and Lavada Smathers Malone.
He was a member of Athens Moose Lodge 1399, National Rifle Association and the American Fishing Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his companion and best friend, Cassandra Green of Glouster; three sons, Randal (Amber) Malone of Nelsonville and Chuck Malone and Kenny (Sheila Simms) Malone, both of New Marshfield; three daughters, Mrs. Will (Dee) Blake of Buchtel, Jacqueline Malone of Athens and Mrs. Jay (Beckie) Blake of Glouster; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a brother, Curtis Malone of Marion; and a sister, Mrs. Ted (Eva) Walls of Athens.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Lane and Randal.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. today at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, with Pastor Tom Hanover officiating.
Burial will be in Concord cemetery.

PAUL EUGENE METCALF
Paul Eugene Metcalf, 77, Nelsonville, died Sunday, Aug. 27 at Logan Health Care Center.
Born June 8, 1923, Guysville, son of the late Earl and Clara Willard Metcalf, he was the widower of the late Grace Colleen Burt Metcalf, who died March 15.
Formerly employed by the City of Nelsonville in the street department, he was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, where he was on the front lines fighting from 1941 to 1945 and received the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the VFW Post 3467 where he was a member of the Combined Color Guard Unit; a life member of the DAV of Athens; a member of the American Legion of Nelsonville; a life member of the Nelsonville Lions Club; and attended the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church and menıs Bible class.
Surviving are seven sons, Joseph (Nancy) Metcalf of Orient, Sam Metcalf of Logan, Dan and Tim Metcalf, both of Columbus, and Tom (Karen) Metcalf, Mark Metcalf and Phillip Metcalf, all of Nelsonville; four daughters, Martha Steinbrink, Mrs. Jerry (Mary) Winchell, Ruth Metcalf and Anna Winchell, all of Nelsonville; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy (Betty) Metcalf of Rockford, Ill.; three sisters, Bernice Tinkham of Millfield, Elenore Kimbell of Albany and Clarice Metcalf of Rockford, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by two granddaughters, JoAnna and Esther Sue Winchell; a grandson, Darin Metcalf; two brothers, Clyde and Forrest Metcalf; and an infant sister, Iva Mae Metcalf.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. John Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Nelsonville.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 today at the funeral home.

HILDA LUCILLE SCHRADER
Hilda Lucille Schrader, 75, Logan, died Tuesday, Aug. 29 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Hocking Valley Community Hospital after an extended illness.
Born March 14, 1925, Detroit, Mich., daughter of the late Ira Benton and Ethel Marie VanCuren Stephenson, she was married to Howard Francis Schrader Sr., who survives.
A homemaker, she was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and was an active foster parent for over 38 years.
Also surviving are three sons, Howard Francis 'Bud' (Beverly) Shrader Jr. and Steven Hugh Schrader, both of Logan and Andrew Howard Schrader of Lancaster; two daughters, Ruth Evelyn Schrader of Springfield, Ill. and Mrs. Brent (Kimberly S.) Robb of Logan; special daughter, Nicole Davis of Logan; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry Benton, Harold Robert, Norbert Neil Stephenson and Ira B. Stephenson Jr.; a sister, Betty Margaret Stephenson; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with the Revs. Gary K. Wheeler and Gary A. Keller officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

MARGARET H. BRUNTON
Margaret H. Brunton, 86, Canal Winchester, formerly of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, Aug. 29 at Winchester Place Nursing Home.
Born June 16, 1914, West Virginia, daughter of the late Ernest C. and Ethel Bryson Shirkey, she was the widow of Gladstone Brunton.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Maplewood cemetery, Glouster.
No calling hours will be observed.
Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster.

HATTIE L. KARR
Hattie L. Karr, 94, Circleville, formerly of Laurelville, died Wednesday, Aug. 30 at SunBridge Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 11, 1906, Laurelville, daughter of the late Bert and Suzanna Congrove Poling, she was the widow of Edgar Karr, who died in 1981.
A retired cafeteria worker with the Laurelville Schools, she was a lifelong member of Laurel Hills Methodist Church of Laurelville, a member of the United Methodist Womenıs of Laurel Hills Methodist Church, a member of the Laurelville Senior Citizens and of Pickaway County Senior Citizens of Circleville.
Surviving are two daughters, Anna Rooney and Lois Sweptson, both of Laurelville; a son, John (Ginger) Karr of Kingston; eight grandchildren, Kathy Fleming, Jeanne Wood, Carmel Rooney, Caroline Rooney, Kevin Rooney, Lesley Hinton, Stacy Karr and Dustin Karr; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wayne Sweptson; a granddaughter, Bethann Sweptson; a daughter, Betty Karr; a son, Don Karr; two sisters, Eloise Downs and Bernadine Poling; and a brother, Lowell Poling.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Defenbaugh-Wise Funeral Home, Circleville, with the Revs. Raymond Welch and Gerald Koster officiating.
Burial will be in Green Summit cemetery, Adelphi.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

DOROTHY SCHLOTZHAUER
Dorothy Schlotzhauer, 75, Nelsonville, died Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Doctors Hospital, Nelsonville.
Born May 27, 1925, Doanville, daughter of the late Harley and Goldie Spellman Robinette, she was the widow of Chester Schlotzhauer.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Harold McConnell officiating.
Interment will be in White Chapel cemetery, Troy, Mich.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ELDON ASH
Eldon Ash, 88, Laurelville, died Wednesday, Aug. 30 at his residence.
Born Feb. 7, 1912, Hocking County, he was the son of the late Walter and Merle Winland Ash.
He was a farmer and also worked at the Eshelman Mill in Circleville.
Surviving are two sons, Don Ash of Stoutsville and David 'Pete' Ash of Amanda; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Delbert Ash of Circleville.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, George Ash and Guy Ash.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Defenbaugh-Wise Funeral Home, Circleville, with the Rev. Raymond Welch officiating.
Burial will be in Tarlton cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 today at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Pickaway County Memorial Chair, 523 Willow Lane, Circleville, Ohio 43113.
