Harry R. Howells, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 29 at Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, S.C.
Born Oct. 21, 1913, Columbus, son of the late Walter and Pauline Courtwright Howells, he was married
to Eileen Howells, who survives.
He was a retired human services director at Westinghouse, a member of Elloree United Methodist Church and a past master of Groveport Lodge #240 F&AM.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Vicki) Clair and Mrs. Dale (Betsy) Gleason; four grandchildren, Gary (Tammie) Grabell, Diane (Clayton) Valentine, Heather (Erik) Greenwald and Brian (Allison) Clair; two great-grandchildren, Joe and Kelley Grabell; a brother, James (Marty) George; two sisters, Mrs. Warner (Alice Mae) Augenstein and Delores England; and many extended family members.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 W. Broad St., Columbus, with the Rev. Thomas Knauff officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset cemetery.

ELEANOR ANNE McDANIEL
Eleanor Anne McDaniel, 67, New Plymouth, died Thursday, Aug. 31 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Nov. 10, 1932, McArthur, daughter of the late Raymond and Anna Lou Edwards Taylor, she was the widow of John "Dick" McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville.
Interment will be at Asbury cemetery, Hocking County.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
MARY LUCILLE JOHNSON
Mary Lucille Johnson, 80, Nelsonville, died Friday, Sept. 1 at Russell Nursing Home, Albany.
Born July 20, 1920, Chauncey, she was the daughter of the late William and Clara McGhee Johnson.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Mel (Helen) Smart of Buchtel; and special niece, Mrs. Phil (Susan) Faires of Glouster; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Corwin, and four brothers, Paul, Bob, Louie and Bill Johnson.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville.
Interment will be at Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville.
Friends may call from noon until time of services today at the funeral home.
MARY VIRGINIA WOOLERY
Mary Virginia Woolery, 80, Logan, died Thursday, Aug. 31 at Mill Run Care Center, Hilliard, following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 24, 1919, Maple Hill, Athens County, daughter of the Fred and Bessie Lenox Mulligan, she was the widow of Louis A. Woolery, who died in 1977.
A 1937 graduate of Nelsonville High School, she was a homemaker.
Also surviving are a son, David Louis Woolery of Dublin; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Mary Lou) Dickson of Apex, N.C. and Mrs. Heinz (Patricia Ann) Schubert of Johannesburg, South Africa; and a brother, Jack (Eileen) Mulligan of Reynoldsburg.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Dauber officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Monday at the funeral home.
JOHN R. GONYER
John R. Gonyer, 44, Albany, died Friday, Sept. 1 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens.
Born Feb. 27, 1956, Haverhill, Mass., son of the late Richard H. and Flora Morse Gonyer, he was married
to Kristine Pinney Gonyer, who survives.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. today at Faith Baptist Church in New Marshfield with the Pastor Adelbert Winegardner officiating.
Arrangements were by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville.
BERNICE LUELLA PORTER
Bernice Luella Porter, 88, formerly of The Plains, died Saturday, Sept. 2 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Born Oct. 24, 1911, Cochransville, daughter of the late William Pickett and Maude Elizabeth West Marlow of Sistersville, W.Va., she was the widow of Thomas C. Porter, who was founder of Hocking Technical Institute/Tri-County Joint Vocational School and of the former Hocking Valley Motor Lodge.
A nurse at Athens State Hospital for 17 1/2 years, she volunteered at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital for 25 years, was a member of The Plains United Methodist Church, past worthy matron of Harrisonville Chapter 255 Order of Eastern Star, a 62-year member of Athens Chapter 175 Order of Eastern Star and a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem. She also was very active in Athens senior citizens' organizations.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Roger William (Ruth Ellen) Hawk of Athens; a son, Thomas Roger Porter of The Plains; five grandchildren, Mrs. Mark Guda (Suzanne Lynee) of Athens, Sheryl Lynell Hawk of Nashville, Tenn., Ronald Mark (Mary Ann) Hawk of New Marshfield, Matthew Paul (Tammy) Hawk of Athens and Charles Franklin Porter of The Plains; and eight great-grandchildren, Hope, Graham, Grey and Harmony Guda of Athens and Jacob, Joshua, Jonathon and Jennifer Hawk of New Marshfield.
She also was preceded in death by an infant son, Carl William Porter; and two brothers, Arthur and Eugene Marlow.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. today at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. David Roach of The Plains United Methodist Church and Pastor Malcom Grueser of Mt. Zion UB Church officiating.
Burial was in West Union Street cemetery.

FREDA CLAIRE WAGNER
Freda Claire Wagner, 88, Glouster, died Friday, Sept. 1 at her residence.
Born May 6, 1912, Darwin, daughter of the late Bates and Alcinda Biggs Carper, she was married
to William K. Wagner, who survives.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, with Steven Hays officiating.
Burial will be in Liberty Hill cemetery.

HELEN M. WALSMITH
Helen M. Walsmith, 72, Carroll, died Thursday, Aug. 31 at Fairfield Medical Center.
She was retired from Diamond Power Specialty Corp. as an accountant.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Walters of North Haven, Conn.; a sister-in-law, June Walsmith of Tulsa, Okla.; and six nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Monday at Oak Grove cemetery with Father James A. Geiger officiating.
DENNIS WILLIAM FULLER
Dennis William Fuller, 44, Logan, died Monday, Sept. 4.
Born July 30, 1956, son of Clarence and Edith Elizabeth Helber Fuller, he was the husband of Jane Ann Devol Fuller, who survives.
He was a self-employed excavator.
Also surviving are two sons, Jesse and Finn Fuller; a daughter, Molly Fuller; and a sister, Melody Huffman of Reynoldsburg.
Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with Father Richard Pendolphi and the Rev. Roger Fidler officiating.
Interment will be in Pleasant Valley cemetery.

RUTH ROBEY
Ruth Robey, 86, Nelsonville, died Monday, Sept. 4 at Doctors North Hospital, Columbus.
Born June 6, 1914, Athens County, daughter of the late Edward Clay and Hattie Mae Barrell McDonald, she was the widow of Carl I. Robey, who died in 1963.
She was retired from Ohio University.
Surviving are two sons, Rex (Kay Collier) Robey of Los Angeles, Calif. and Bill (Tee) Robey of Nelsonville; two daughters, Mrs. Pete (Judy) Buckvold and Ellen Robey, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren, James and Annie Buckvold, Tina Dixon, and Brooke and Ben Robey; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Katlin Dixon; a brother, Tom (Barbara) McDonald of Nelsonville; two sisters, Mrs. Paul "Pig" (Maxine) Wagner of Nelsonville and Sarah Conner of Nelsonville; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Russ McDonald; and a sister, Faye Slater.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with Paul Reed officiating.
Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Nelsonville.

KENNETH E. SNYDER
Kenneth E. Snyder, 46, Laurelville, died Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Grant Hospital, Columbus.
Son of the late Vernon and Louise Snyder, he was married
to Kathy Snyder, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gregory (Lyndell) Suttles of Jacksonville, Fla. and Stacey Snyder of Paris, Ky.; a son, Daniel Snyder of Paris, Ky.; two step-children, Edward and Robert Anderson of Logan; two grandchildren, Gregory Lane and Jordan Marshall Suttles of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara Sanders of Buckeye Lake and Phyllis Oglesbee of Lancaster; a brother, Kelvin Snyder of Columbus; and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Salvation Army Chapel, 222 W. Hubert Ave., Lancaster, with Lt. Deborah Stacy officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Rose cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Thursday at Sheridan Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at Salvation Army Chapel.

JUDITH ANN MOWREY
Judith Ann Mowrey, 46, Newport News, Va., died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 26.
Surviving are her husband, Dennis Lee "Denny" Mowrey; a son, William C. Mowrey of Puerto Rico; father and mother-in-law, Everett and Jean Mowrey; daughter-in-law, Lauren; her father; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services were held Aug. 30 in Newport News, Va.
Burial was in Hampton National cemetery.
