Charles E. Smith
Charles E. (Chuckie) Smith, 72 of Lorain, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Specialty Hospital of Lorain in Amherst from complications of a long standing illness.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1938 in Lorain to the late Hartley J. and Rosella M. (nee Schueller) Smith, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Lorain and loved his home by the lake.
He is survived by sister Lella Hoover of Millerstown, PA, brothers Hartley J. Smith, Jr. of Warner Robbins, GA, Robert H. (Irene) Smith of Lorain and many loving nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Richard C. and Howard L. Smith.
Friends may call on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 11:00 am until services at 1:00 pm in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Mr. Robert L. Smith, Charles' nephew will officiate.
Burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery.
Howard L. Smith
Howard L. Smith, 73, of Sheffield Lake passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 in Community Health Partner's Regional Health Care Center in Lorain while in the company of family members.
Mr. Smith was born in Lorain on August 29, 1936, the son of the late Hartley J. and Rosella (nee Schueller) Smith, Sr. He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1954.
Mr. Smith retired in 1985 as a general foreman at former Lorain Products/ Reliance Electric in Lorain following 30 years of service.
He was an avid genealogist, a member of the Black River Historical Society, Sheffield Village Historical Society and the Lorain County Historical Society. He will be missed by the his pet Sheltie dogs: Savannah and Dakota.
Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter Dawne M. Smith (William) of Lorain, sons Leonard L Smith (Catherine) of Sheffield Lake, Alan H Smith (Tracy) of Sheffield Lake., Christopher H Smith (Zuhra) of Columbus, grandchildren, Deanna N. Smith, Jessica L. Smith, Meagan L. Smith, Alyssa B. Smith, Vanessa M. Smith, Dustin C. Smith, Abigail E. Smith, Zarina D. Smith, Tristan C. Smith, great granddaughter Adriana N. Osburn, sister Leila J. Hoover of Harrisburg, PA, brothers Hartley J. Smith, Jr., Robert H. Smith (Irene), Charles E. Smith all of Lorain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Diana Nova (nee Fish) Smith in 1998 and a brother Richard C. Smith.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the funeral home at 1:00 with Pastor Bill Dickey, pastor of the New Beginnings Church of God, officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Lorain.
Michael R. Doty
Michael R. Doty, 57 of Riverview, Florida passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 after a long illness.
He was born March 9, 1952 in Lorain the son of the late Robert Doty and Constance (Nee Elgar) Doty, who survives.
Mr. Doty was a member of the Riverview Moose Lodge and the Moose Riders, a group of motorcyclist dedicated to awareness and treatment for children with cancer.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Jylene, a son Michael Jr., his daughter Stacy, his mother, Connie (nee Elgar) Peters, sister Carol Fillip of Atlanta, GA, brother Bill Peters, seven step children, seventeen step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Dale Peters.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 11 AM in the Elmwood cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.

Harold M. Martin
Harold M. Martin, 77, of Lorain passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Community Health Partners Regional Health Center in Lorain, unexpectedly.
Mr. Martin was born in Harriman, TN on December 7, 1932, the son of the late Reese Martin and Luecinda ( nee McKee) Martin Morgan. Mr. Martin has lived in Lorain since 1975.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Lorain. He enjoyed gospel music, playing his guitar and watching TV.
Mr. Martin was a retired assembly line worker at Ford Motor Co. Lorain retiring after 18 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Imogene M. (nee Nash) Martin, daughter Lucinda K Campbell of Mansfield, sons: Dwayne C Martin, Brian L Martin both of Lorain, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memory Garden in Avon on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jay Roller, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating.

Linda S. Trakas
Linda S. Trakas, 62, (nee Looney) went to be with God on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center in Lorain
Mrs. Trakas was born in Akron on January 1, 1948, the daughter of Jack and Jimmie (nee Mann) Looney of Lorain, who survives. She was a graduate of Lorain High School, class of 1966. Mrs. Trakas was an accomplished organist, playing for a number of local churches. She enjoyed ceramics and floral arranging.
She worked as an office manager at Coley's in Vermilion.
A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Trakas is survived by a daughter Heather (Marvin)Tucker, a son Matthew Trakas both of Lorain, 2 grandsons Cameron and Caleb, sisters Lisa Murphey of Columbus, Lauren Shelly of Marsellus, NY. and brother Craig Looney of Big Canoe, GA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Old Stone United Methodist Church, 553 South Main Street, Amherst, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Daniel Reinke, pastor, officiating.

Lenore J. Wayman
Lenore J. Eastin Wayman, 90, (nee Maher) of Lorain died on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Wesleyan Village in Elyria, peacefully in the company of her family.
Mrs. Wayman was born in Cuyahoga County on April 28, 1919, the daughter of the late William T and Dorothy J (nee Mook) Maher.
She was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1936 and attended the L. B Johnson School of Nursing, in Elyria. She retired as the Administrator of the former TB Clinic on Murray Road in 1981. She has also worked at the former Lorain Telephone Company, Ohio Unemployment Office, and at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mrs. Wayman was a member of the Lakeland Women's Club. She attended the former Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church in Lorain. She sang with the choir, taught Sunday School, lead Bible Studies, and taught Vacation Bible School. She also was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed attending the Church of the Open Door and St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Amherst.
She enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Mrs. Wayman is survived by a daughter Annette J Eastin Wayman (Allan) of Sheffield Lake, sons William C. Eastin, Jr. (Holly Hecock) of Granite Falls, NC., Robert R. Eastin (Linda Pietch) of Amherst, Roger M. Eastin (Judy Whipback) of Greenville, SC, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband William Eastin in 1989, her second husband Wilbur Wayman in 2007, step mother Margaret Stahl Maher, siblings Dorothy and William.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 28, 2010 from 10:00 AM until services at 11:00 in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Pastor Beth McKee, chaplain at the Wesleyan Village will officiate.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park cemetery in Amherst Township.

Carol L. Fankhauser
Carol L. Fankhauser, 60, (nee Street) of Columbia Station died on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain.
Mrs. Fankhauser was born in Lorain on May 31, 1949, the daughter of the late John Cornelius Street and Margaret (Meldrum) Street Spangler, of Lorain, who survives.
She was a graduate of Ball State University, obtaining a masters degree. She was a retired first grade teacher with the Columbia Station Board of Education with 30 years service. She retired in 2002.
Mrs. Fankhauser was a member of Christ Church in Columbia Station. She was a member of the Divers Alert Network, Padi Diving Society and Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
She enjoyed shopping, cooking, gardening, snorkeling, scuba diving, biking, skiing, and being involved in her community.
Mrs. Fankhauser is survived by her husband of 37 years Larry D. Fankhauser, a daughter Heather Fankhauser of Brunswick, and a brother Jack Street of Las Vegas, NV.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by infant brother Jack T Street, her paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. L. A. Street and her maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Meldrum.
