Treva M. Gascoigne
Treva M. (nee Zimmerman) Gascoigne, 84 of Lorain passed away Saturday, November 12, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness.
Mrs. Gascoigne was born in Lorain, OH on March 26, 1921. She was a graduate of Lorain High School. She was retired from the Lorain Products in 1973 where she was a board line assembler. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, chocolate, animals and giving of herself.
Mrs. Gascoigne is survived by her daughter; Kathy M. Gascoigne of Lorain and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband John S. in 1974, son Jay R. in 1977, daughter Rebecca A. Stilgenbauer, parents George and Katherine (nee Shawver) Zimmerman, brother Dwayne Zimmerman and sister Margaret Ryan.

Dale D. Hall
Dale D. Hall, 62 of Lorain died on Monday, May 30, 2005 at his home following a brief illness.
Mr. Hall was born on February 5, 1943 in Lorain, OH and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1961A graduate of Lorain High School. Mr. Hall owned and operated his own business for 35 years; D.D. Hall Electrical Contractor.
He was an avid auto racing fan especially NASCAR racing. He also owned and drove his own race car. From 1981 to 1983 he was Track Champion at both Lorain Motor Speedway and Sandusky Motor Speedway. He was named "Rookie of the Year" and "Sportsman of the Year" in 1981. He enjoyed white water rafting and all other sports.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife Regaina "Sue" Hall to whom he was married
on June 17, 1961, daughters, Christie D Bertulies, and Vicki M Schmaling both of Amherst, son, Brian C Hall of North Ridgeville, 4 grandchildren, and sister Susan K Kawamoto of Grosse Pointe, MI.

Miriam E. Cutlip
Miriam E. Cutlip (nee Congos), 80 of Elyria Township, formerly of Lorain, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 following complications after an emergency surgery.
She was born November 27th, 1924 in East LeRoy, Ohio. She lived 21 years in the Painesville area. She moved to Lorain in 1945. She is a 60 year member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. She was an active choir member, the secretary/treasurer of the service guild for many years and involved with the Episcopal Church Woman.
Mrs. Cutlip was an accomplished vocalist, pianist and was active in many community programs in Painesville and Lorain. She and her family performed at school and church functions.
Miriam worked as a housekeeper from 1958 until 1968. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1969. She was employed by Willoughby West Hospital in the Prenatal Unit. She worked for two years as a hostess at McDonalds on Oberlin Ave in Lorain.
Miriam bowled on a senior league at Rebman's Recreation for 15 years, enjoyed crossword puzzles and a Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her daughters Lorraine Robinson of Akron, Marlys Yohn of Vermilion, Marilyn Klinger of Sandusky and Star Geib of Elyria Township, son Lauris Cutlip of Bucyrus, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Roberta Lee Cutlip, parents Leander and Helga Congos (nee Korpi), sisters Dagmar, Delilah, Olga, Sigrid and LaVern, brothers Harold, William and Charles.

Lance B. Erdy
Lance B. Erdy, 64 of Elyria died Thursday, November 24, 2005, at Elyria Memorial Hospital Regional Medical Center in Elyria unexpectedly.
Mr. Erdy was born in Lorain, OH on August 23, 1941. He was a resident of Lorain until moving to Elyria about 2 years ago. He was a 1959 graduate of Lorain High School.
He was an outstanding athlete in High School, earning several "letters." He was an avid bowler and enjoyed building things and working with his hands.
He is survived by his daughters: Jennifer Snowden of Amherst, Lynn Gasdick of Vermilion, Ohio, six grandchildren and a sister: Lauren Roth of Saulk City, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Ella (Horvath) Erdy and a sister Judith Walbom.

Robert Allen Ewers
Retired Lorain Municipal Court Judge Robert Allen Ewers, 76 of Lorain died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Fairview General Hospital in Cleveland after being taken there following an auto accident on Wednesday.
He was born on December 20, 1928 in Elyria and has been a resident of this area all his life. He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Baldwin Wallace College and the Case Western Reserve Law School. He was a US Navy Reserve veteran. He was a member of the St. Mary Church in Lorain.
Judge Ewers began his career in 1954. He served as Assistant Attorney General to William Saxbe. He became acting municipal court judge in 1968 by appointment of Judges John S. Kolena and Judge Valentine A. Toth to serve in their absence. He served as civil referee since 1976. He served Lorain as fulltime Municipal Court Judge from 1979 until his retirement in December 2001. He received several awards for Superior Judicial Service from the Ohio Supreme Court.
He was an founding member of the Lorain County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Board (648), served as a member of the Lucy Idol School Board. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts and the PTA. He headed the Cancer Drive with the City Of Lorain.
Judge Ewers was a member of the Lorain Kiwanis, Moose Lodge, Slovenian Club, IAV and the Ohio and Lorain County Bar Associations. He enjoyed playing the piano, theatre, traveling, reading, music and camping. He was especially known for his integrity, sharp wit and his bow ties.
He is survived by his sons, William Robert Ewers and Raymond Ewers both of Lorain, daughters Deborah Ewers of Lorain, Dr. Susan Pelini of Westlake, Katherine Passalacqua of Bay Village, Mary Ellen Ewers-Pena of Avon Lake, 12 grandchildren and a sister Patricia Smith of Boston, MA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lois (nee Cimperman) Ewers on May 4, 2002, and his parents Ray A. and Rosella (nee Resar) Ewers.

Funeral services will be on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 10:30 am in the funeral home followed by a 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Mary Church, 8th & Reid Ave. with Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Katherine R. Heald
Katherine R "Kay" Heald, 81 of Lorain died on Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Avon Oaks Nursing Home in Avon, OH following a long illness.
Mrs. Heald was born on February 20, 1924, in Oil City, PA. She has lived in Lorain since 1945. She was a graduate of Oil City High School and Clarion Teacher's College with a BS in education in 1945. She went on in 1979 to obtain her Master's Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University.
She was an elementary teacher in the Lorain City Schools. She taught at several schools but mostly at Fairhome. She took a short time off while her children were very young but even then continued to substitute teach.
After returning to full-time teaching, she became the supervisor of the Title One Reading Program. She was particularly proud of one accomplishment. She was assigned to teach a 15 year old Polish immigrant that spoke no English and she no Polish. She taught him to read and write English well. He then went on to receive a college degree. She retired from teaching in 1988 with more than 30 years dedicated to her profession.
Mrs. Heald was very active in her church, Christ United Methodist Church. She was a choir member, member of the Martha Circle and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Lorain Education Association, the National Education Association, and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. She had also been a den mother.
She was an honored volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association. She was awarded the Outstanding Senior Volunteer award in 1998.
Mrs. Heald is survived by her husband James C. Heald to whom she was married
on June 28, 1947, sons Edward "Eddie" Heald of Clark NE and Richard "Rick" Heald of Lorain, sister Muriel Harry of Seneca, PA and 5 nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Irving and Ruby (nee Campbell) Reid.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2005, at 1:00 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Matt Darrin, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church officiating.

Ruth E. DoBrunz
Ruth E. DoBrunz, (nee Long) 90 of Amherst died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a long illness.
Mrs. DoBrunz was born in Lorain, OH on November 12, 1915, and was a life long area resident. She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed crocheting, Cleveland Cavs and spending time with her Grandchildren
Mrs. DoBrunz is survived by daughters: Candyce Owens of Lorain, OH, son: Willard H. DoBrunz of Amherst, OH three grandchildren, and sister: Edna Cavanaugh of Lorain, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard H. DoBrunz, Sr, parents Albert and O'Tillia (Rauser) Long .brothers Ed and Albert Long and sister Fredericka Cimino.
Services are private.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park cemetery Amherst Township, OH.
