Lewis R. Nikora
Lewis R. Nikora, 68, of Amherst passed away, Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a stroke.
Lew was born in Lorain on September 12, 1943, the youngest son of the late John and Mary K. (nee Street) Nikora. He was a graduate of Lorain High School in the class of 1961. He was a member of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church.
He retired as a supervisor with the former Lorain Products, (Marconi) with service in the wire form and the transformer departments. He retired in 2001 with 40 years of service.
Lew volunteered at Mary Mother of God Choice Food Pantry/ Hot Food Program, making the best ice tea in town.
An enthusiastic supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes, he once met and spoke with Woody Hayes on the field at the "Shoe". He enjoyed watching NASCAR, going to Lorain County Speedway, following the Browns and Indians, debating politics, fishing, traveling, playing Santa over the years to several generations of children. Lew was a kindhearted, gentle and generous man, always thinking of others.
Lew is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth S. (nee Koczan) Nikora, daughter Denise E. Nikora, of Amherst, sister, Kathy Nikora, of Elyria, and brother John A. (Susan D.) Nikora of Estero, FL. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Bobby" by Ayden and "Papa Lew" by Autumn, Everleigh, Logan, Tristan, and Lucas.
In memory of Lew's passion for the Buckeyes, Liz suggests that friends and family wear the "Scarlet & Gray" to calling hours on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
A Funeral Mass will be held in the Mary Mother of God Catholic Church on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10:00 am with Rev. Daniel O. Divis, as celebrant. Burial will be private.

Arnold "Ralph" Eanes
Arnold R. "Ralph" Eanes, 80, of Lorain passed away on Saturday evening, January 8, 2011 at the Anchor Lodge Retirement Center in Lorain following a brief illness.
Mr. Eanes was born in Princewick, WV on September 26, 1930, the son of the late Ollie A and Ora I (nee Archer) Eanes. He served in the U.S. Navy during the post WW II era.
He was a retired crane operator at US Steel in Lorain: retiring after 30 years.
He was a member of F & AM Black River Lodge # 786, Scottish Rite-Valley of Cleveland and the American Legion Post # 30.
He enjoyed fishing and watching TV.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary E. (Reis) Eanes of Lorain, a daughter Marsha A Stanko Rosso of Lorain, his sons Arthur E. (Beverly) Stanko of St. Paul, MN., Michael J Stanko of Phoenix, AZ., Arnold E (Babette) Stanko of Perry, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. his sister Linda Faye (Douglas) Meadows of Turtle Creek, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a brother Buddy Eanes.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 11 am until services at 12:45 pm in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio. Black River Masonic Lodge # 786 will hold a memorial service at 12:45 pm. Funeral services will then follow at 1:00 pm.
Burial will follow in Calvary cemetery, Lorain with full military services provided jointly by the American Legion Post 30 and the Veterans of Foriegn Wars Post 451.
Virginia A. (Ginny) Elder
Virginia A. Elder, 41, (nee Rowley) of Lorain passed away on Friday September 9, 2011 at the EMH Regional Medical Center-Amherst Campus following a long illness.
Mrs. Elder was born in Toledo on January 13, 1961, a daughter of the late Lawrence L. Rowley and Geraldine (nee Glander) Rowley, of Toledo, who survives.
She was a homemaker. She especially enjoyed crocheting.
Mrs. Elder is survived by he husband of 30 years, Philip H Elder, daughters Christina and Elana, sons Victor and Lawrence, two sisters, Laura Rowley, of Toledo, Diana Rowley Baldwin, of Lorain, and a brother Thomas Rowley, of Toledo.
Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from noon until services at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Gary Dorsey, pastor of the Tower Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
Marguerite Rosemond Evans
A memorial service celebrating the life of Marguerite Rosemond Evans (nee Ward), will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. Fifth Street in Lorain. Charles Palmer of Grace Communion International will conduct the service. Burial of her ashes will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Evans was born June 24, 1917 in Elyria and departed this life on December 21, 2010 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a short illness. She was the widow of Robley L. Evans. They had been married
for 61 years. She had been a resident of Anchor Lodge Assisted Living.
She was a, devoted member of the Worldwide Church of God, later the Lorain Congregation of Grace Communion International, where she served as a deaconess to her church family. She was a graduate of Lorain High School, a Past Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls, National president of the Electrical Craftsmen Auxiliary, a former volunteer with the Lorain Head Start Program, a member of the Black River Historical Society and an avid swimmer at the YMCA.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Raymond Ward, her sister, Charlotte Ward and her son-in-law, Daniel Rayha.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Adele Evans of Cleveland, her daughters, Betty Evans Rayha of Parma and Brenda Evans Davenport (John) of Fredericksburg, VA, her grandchildren, Daniel Rayha, Jr. of Parma, Becky (Davenport) and John Weidenbruch of Marblehead, MA, Deborah (Davenport) and Darren McMullan of Fredericksburg, VA and Susan Cappy of Wickliffe, OH. She is also survived by one great-grandson and three great-grand daughters.

Esther M. Spicer Ford
Esther M Spicer Ford (nee Brown), 64, of Elyria died March 4, 2011 at her residence following a long illness.
Mrs. Ford was born November 11, 1946 in Lorain, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Thelma A. (nee Kane) Brown. She has lived in this area all her life.
She was a member of the former Wesleyan United Methodist Church in Elyria.
Mrs. Ford owned and operated Essie's Day Care from 1994 to 2006. She also previously worked at Deluca's Place in the Park, Accurate Electronics, and served as a foster parent for Lorain County Children's Services and the 12 Inc
She enjoyed crafts, baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and horseback riding, in her younger years.
Mrs. Ford is survived by her daughters: Candy (Jim) Strauser of Sheffield Lake, Shirley (Charles) McAtee of Lorain, Serina Conlan of Amherst, sons, Stacey Spicer, Brad (Jessica) Spicer both of Elyria, 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, stepchildren, Theresa Walls-Masters, Jackie Talbert, Lisa Hyer, Kenny Talbert, George Talbert, Jerry Ford Jr., sisters; Eleanor (Eugene) Benner and Helen (Mike) Wittreich both of Elyria, Jane (Lynn) Ison of Lorain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hollis Ford in 1994, brothers; Charles Brown, Raymond Brown, Franklin Brown, Ralph Brown, Gerald Brown, and a sister Berniece Todd.

Helen M. Orton
Helen M. Orton, 83, ob Berlin Heights, formerly of Lorain passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011 while in the care of the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.
Ms. Orton was born in Lorain on March 12, 1928, the daughter of the late George C. and Marjorie (nee Kenn) Orton.
She was a graduate of Lorain High School, a member of the Class of 1946.
Ms. Orton worked as a secretary at the American Crucible in Lorain, Fruehauf Trailers, and with the Ohio Edison Co.
She enjoyed sports, especially softball andvolleyball. She enjoyed camping and was most notably; she loved her dog.
Helen is survived by her longtime friend and caregiver Nancy Falton of Berlin Heights and several cousins.
Graveside Services will be Monday, September 19, 2011 in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio.

George F. Pappas
George F. Pappas, 82 of Lorain passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a long illness.
Mr. Pappas was born in Lorain on September 27, 1928, the son of the late Michael and Mary Pappas. He was a lifelong resident of Lorain.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was retired mail carrier working out of the Lorain Post Office for 30 years.
Mr. Pappas enjoyed woodworking and watching ball games
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Evelyn Pappas, daughters Patricia A (Darrell) Hopps of Senecaville, Pamela J (Tim) Green of Lorain, sons Mark A (Jennifer) Pappas of Lorain, Jeffrey L (Alison) Pappas of Westlake, grandchildren, Jennifer Green, Darrell Hopps, Jamie Hopps, Nora Pappas, Maya Pappas and great grandchildren: Dezerae Garcia, Cody Green, and Isiah (Lamar).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Smarsh, and a brother Michael Pappas.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Matt Darrin, officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
