Elaine K. Cizl Benton
Elaine K. Benton, 63 (nee Cizl) of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in the University Hospital in Cleveland following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Elaine was born in Lorain on July 28, 1948, a daughter of the late Harry B Cizl and Eleanor K. (nee Herbert) Cizl, who survives.
She is a graduate of Brookside High School in the class of 1967.
She worked as a homemaker.
Elaine was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church in Lorain, a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and recording secretary for Laureate Beta Eta Chapter,
She and her mother were well known Avon Product representatives in the area. She enjoyed bowling; serving as league secretary, karaoke, loved animals, and was an active member, as survivor, in the American Cancer Society.
Elaine is survived by her loving and devoted spouse of 25 years D. L. Benton, her mother Eleanor K. Cizl of Sheffield Lake, a sister, Cheryl (George) Mateka, of Winter Springs, FL, a brother, Mark A (LuAnn) Cizl, of Sheffield Lake, and especially loved nieces and nephews, Jeff Cizl, Valerie Cizl, Shelley Dillehay, Tony Mateka. Many other relatives and friends will grieve her passing.
Her father predeceased her in 1998.
A Celebration Of Life was held privately on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals. The Rev. Vicki McGraw, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiated.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society-Relay For Life Program, 10501 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44106-2204.
Kenneth Wayne Bobel
Kenneth Wayne Bobel, 60, of Lorain died Monday, March 7, 2011 at his home following a short battle with cancer.
Mr. Bobel was born in Lorain on April 28, 1950, the son of the late Jack E. Bobel and Shirley (nee Robinson) Bobel, of Lorain, who survives him.
In 1968, he graduated from the former Lorain High School and in 1970 graduated from Lorain County Community College, receiving an associate's degree in Applied Science with a specialty in electronics. He furthered his education at the University of Akron for another year.
He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Lorain. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop # 306, he received the Boy Scout God and Country Award at his church.
Mr. Bobel was a ham radio operator with call letters WA8YJW. He was an auto enthusiast and collected railroad equipment and car magazines. His other interest include photography and traveling. He was a member of Lake Shore Railroad Association of Elyria.
For the past 32 years, he worked at Vasu Communications, Inc. Previously, he worked at both Lorain Electronics Corp and Lorain Products.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by brothers Dennis (Mari-Ellen) Bobel of Plymouth, MN., Glenn (Karen) Bobel of Brownsburg, IN, James Bobel of Lorain, several nieces and nephews, Kathryn, Matthew, Bradley, Eric, Emily, and his aunt Joyce Robinson of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his father Jack E. Bobel in 1996.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. John's United Church of Christ, 715 W. 7th Street, Lorain, with Rev. Philip Kunz, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at 3:30 PM on Friday, after his memorial service.

Shirley A. Bobel
Shirley A. Bobel, 82, (nee Naelitz) of Lorain was called home to God on November 18, 2011 following a brief illness.
Mrs. Bobel was born in Lorain on January 31, 1929, the youngest daughter of the late Daniel J. and Anna (nee Lynch) Naelitz. A lifelong resident of Lorain, she graduated from from Lorain High School in the Class of 1947.
She was a member of the former St Mary Church now known as Mary Mother of God Parish. She was a member of the Ladies Guild of the church.
Mrs. Bobel was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and was active in the Lorain Democratic Party. She was a homemaker
Mrs. Bobel enjoyed cooking, gardening, home decorating and helping raise her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter Kimberly A. (Michael) Bobel-Smosny, a son William K. Bobel both of Lorain, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brothers James (Mariann) Naelitz of Cape Coral, FL, Robert (Ida Marie) Naelitz of Lorain and several neices and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William A. Bobel in 1997, a daughter Sharon A Lewyckyj in 1993, a sister Ada Mae Naelitz, brothers Thomas Naelitz, Daniel Naelitz and Frank Naelitz.

Funeral services will be on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by a A Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Mother of God Parish at 10:00 am with Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

James Robert Buford Jr.
James R. Buford Jr., 87, of Amherst passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst.
Mr. Buford was born in Richmond, VA on March 28, 1923, the son of the late James Robert and Marian Buchanan (nee Moffat) Buford. He has lived in Amherst since 1992.
He attended Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, VA and graduated from high school in Port Allegheny, PA, in 1941. He received a bachelor of science degree in commerce from Grove City College in PA in 1949; received his masters degree in Cinematography from Syracuse University in New York in 1950; and continued his studies at UCLA Los Angeles CA with graduate level classes.
Mr. Buford served in the U.S. Army as a First Sergeant with 670th Tank Destroyers Battalion during WW II. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
He was a retired accountant, working with Arthur Anderson Co., North Pennsylvania Gas Co, and a number of other companies across the U.S.
He was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Amherst and the Presbyterian Church-USA. He was also a member of the National Association of Accountants, Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, Clan Moffat USA, United Scottish Societies of Los Angeles, CA, and the Scottish Games Society of North East Ohio,
He enjoyed stamp collecting, hiking, mountain climbing, model railroading, the producing and critiquing of operas and classic arts, and researching Confederate War History. His major recent interest was good movies on TCM and WCLV classical music.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judith Ann (nee Sivers) Buford, daughter Jennifer Ann (Chad A.) Brothers of Spring Hill, TN, son Rev. J. Robert (Elizabeth) Buford III of Ashland, grandchildren Andrew James Buford, Jonathan David Buford, Sarah Ann Brothers and Rachel Louise Brothers and brother retired US Army Lt. Col. M. Donald Buford of Newport Beach, CA.
Graveside services will be private. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park cemetery in Amherst Township with Rev. Malcolm Peel, interim co-pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church, officiating. Full military burial honors will be provided jointly by the American Legion Post # 30 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.

Mack S. Long
Mack S. Long, 84 of Lorain passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Elyria Memorial Regional Health Center in Elyria following a lingering illness.
Mr. Long was born on December 2, 1926 in Lorain to the late Fred D. and Laura E. (nee Scott) Long. A lifelong resident of Lorain, Mr. Long graduated from Lorain High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during WW II.
He was an active member of the Christian Temple Disciples of Christ in Lorain. He served as a Life Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher and volunteered in the food pantry.
Mr. Long was a member of the F & AM Ely Lodge # 424. He started his Masonic career with the Lorain Lodge #552 in 1947, serving as secretary for 23 years. He was also a member of the Mystic Chapter # 103 R.A.M, (twice as High Priest), Lorain Commandary # 65 K.T. ( past commander), Lorain Council # 103 R & SM, and the Fellowcraft Club. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Ohio for more than 63 years, 50 year member of the Grand Council RSM of Ohio and Grand Chapter of RAM of Ohio.
He was retired from the City of Lorain in 1991 from the building department as an assistant building inspector with more than 21 years service. He had also worked at both the Nimon Company and Thew Shovel.
An accomplished roller skater, Mr. Long had been skating since he was 15 years old at the Old Coliseum. Mr. Long met his wife, Emma while roller skating and the two enjoyed many years of skating together.
Mr. Long is survived by his twin daughters Laura (Wayne) Keene, Linda (Roy) Thompson, both of Amherst, grandchildren Lesley Hochevar, Brian Long, Justin Keene, Aaron Keene, great grandchildren Kailey Hochevar, Connor Hochevar, Ella Keene, Jackson Mack Keene, sister Mildred Hellinger of Lorain and brother James (Mary) Long of Avon Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Emma (nee Lark) Long in 1992 and a son Fred D. Long in 1994.
Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Sunday, June 26, 2011 beginning at 3:00 pm and concluding with Masonic Memorial services at 7:00 pm conducted by several Masonic lodges.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 27, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Christian Temple Disciples of Christ, 940 W. 5th Street, Lorain with Rev. Dr. Bradley J. Donahue, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

Virginia Mae TarBush Lynch
Virginia M. TarBush Lynch, 80, (nee Larson) of Lorain passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a short illness.
Mrs. Lynch was born in Cleveland on July 28, 1930, the daughter of the late Roy and Helen (nee Kwiatkowski) Larson. She was retired but previously worked in the cafeteria at the Ford plant in Avon Lake.
She enjoyed bowling, scrabble, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, was an avid reader and a devoted football fan especially The Cleveland Browns.
Mrs. Lynch is survived by her daughters Nancy Moore of Lorain, Helen (Jeff) Michaels, Tracy Mills both of Barberton, Carol TarBush (Brian Kachur) of Avon, Connie (Dave) Turlington of Cary, NC, daughter-in-law Casey TarBush of Owensboro KY., 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Edward TarBush in 1976, her second husband John Lynch, Jr in 1997 and a son David TarBush in 2003.
Friends may call on Friday, April 8, 2011 in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dan Gregory, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted.
