Mary Ellen Wallace
Mary Ellen Wallace, 83, (nee Weaver) of Lorain passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain following a long illness.
Mrs. Wallace was born on June 9, 1924 in Zanesville to the late Reuben & Lillie (nee Kelly) Weaver. She has lived in Lorain since 1957. She was an active member at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She earned a bachelor's degree in 1946 from Muskingum College. Her studies continued at Western Reserve University earning her a Master's in Education degree in 1956. In 1963 she received a Fulbright Scholarship and studied in Columbia, South America and in Mexico.
Mrs. Wallace was a Spanish teacher for the Lorain City Schools. She taught at both Lorain High School and Admiral King High School from 1957-1977. At Admiral King High School she was the chairman of the language department.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Wallace on July 6, 1989.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Street, Lorain with co-pastors Rev. Jimmy Madsen and Rev. Dr. L. H. Chamberlain, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park cemetery, Amherst Township.

Robert L. Virtue
Robert L. Virtue, 68 of Elyria died unexpectedly on Monday, August 18, 2008 at his home of natural causes.
Mr. Virtue was born in Lorain on July 29, 1940, the son of the late Charles Leroy and Erma Lee (nee Carver) Virtue. He was employed by the street department in Elyria from 1968 - 1998. His friends say that this 30 years of employment was the happiest time of his life and the people that lived, worked and did business on Broad Street in downtown Elyria became his surrogate family. Her has no other known relatives.
He loved animals of all types but especially dogs. He loved his German Shepherd, Juno.
Mr. Virtue will be best remembered as the nice, friendly guy working his way down Broad Street, working a while and then talking a while.
He will be greatly missed by his closest friends, The Lottmans, The Gawlics, the Singetons and The Dan families.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM on Friday, October 3, 2008 in Brookdale cemetery, Elyria,

Judith L. Tickle
Judith L. Tickle, 67 (nee Thomas) of Lorain passed away early Tuesday morning, January 21, 2008 at Kingston of Vermilion following a long illness.
Mrs. Tickle was born in Lorain, OH on March 27, 1940, the daughter of the late Leonard H. and Helen L. (nee Mascenik) Thomas. A lifelong resident of Lorain, she graduated from Lorain High School. She loved to sing and had been a member of the Glee Club and Choir in high school.
She was a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain. He enjoyed leading Rosary at the nursing home. She liked to play Bingo and doing crafts. She was an enthusiastic Texas Hold'em player. Mrs. Tickle was named Resident of the Month in March 2007.
She was a homemaker and had worked at Joseph & Feiss Co. and the May Company.
Mrs. Tickle is survived by her daughters Viki Campbell of Vermilion, Barbara Harris of Wakeman, Krista Bracero of Lorain, grandchildren Donald Campbell, Melany Kertell, Catherine Kertell, Elizabeth Dunkle, Samantha Dunkle, Teresa Bracero, John Harris, and Steven Harris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Christopher Campbell in 2007, sister Joyce Thomas and step mother Margaret Thomas.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio with Father Daniel O. Divis, pastor of St. Mary Church, officiating.
Annabel R. Helle Tellman
Annabel R. Helle Tellman, 87 of Lorain passed away peacefully, with her husband at her side on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at University Hospital in Cleveland following a brief illness.
Mrs. Tellman was born in Grand Rapids, MI on March 2, 1921, the daughter of the late Henry B and Thusnelda M (nee Klaholz) Helle. She moved to Lorain with her family, as a small child.
She was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1938. She was a homemaker. Many years ago, She worked at Ohio Edison as a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Tellman was a member of the former Emmanuel United Methodist Church now known as Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a member of both the church choir and the Willomars.
One of the founding members of the volunteer program at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center, she served tirelessly for more than 38 years. She was also a member of the Lakeland Women's Club. She was a dedicated supporter of the music program at Lorain High School from 1962-1969, including the Band Parents and the Music Parents.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Herbert Tellman, to whom she was married
on June 19, 1943, her daughters Janet S (George) Campbell of Livonia, MI, Kathy J (Bruce) Ullock of Sedona, AZ, grandsons Mark and Scott Campbell and step grandsons Spencer R and David A. Ullock.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tellman was preceded in death by a sister Jane Fox and a brother Robert Helle.

Guiseppe "Joe" Russo
"MR SOFTEE ICE CREAM MAN "
Guiseppe "Joe" Russo, 78 of Lorain, known in the community for the last 49 years as "Mr. Softee Ice Cream Man" died on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 unexpectedly at the EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria.
Mr. Russo was born in Lorain, OH on September 23, 1930, the son of the late Filippo and Maria (nee Barbarino) Russo. He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1949-B. For 49 years, he owned and operated the Mister Softee Ice Cream truck in the Lorain community to the delight of generations of children.
He attended Church of the Nazarene Amherst. He loved the out-of-doors, enjoyed attending the Ohio State Fair for 49 years, and attending local fairs and festivals. He was especially fond of the time he spent with his grandson. He was also a "tinkerer" enjoyed fixing and repairing things.
On July 13, 1952 he married
Carol A. (nee Zimmerman) Russo, who survives. Also surviving is a son John P (Carol) Russo of Lorain, grandson Jonathan M. Russo, three step grandchildren and 8 great step grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Alfio Russo.

Charlotte E. Ruth
Charlotte E. Ruth, 75 (nee Rust) died February 5, 2008 in Amherst Manor Nursing Home in Amherst following a long illness.
Mrs. Ruth was born in Elyria, OH on October 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Walter C. and Ethel E (Brubaker) Rust. She was a graduate of Clearview HS class of 1951 and the M B Johnson School of Nursing in Elyria in 1954. She taught nursing and worked for several area physicians. She also worked for 17 years as the office manager for North Ohio Heart Center in 1997.
She was past president of the Professional Association of Health Care Office Managers, a member of the Social Order of Beauceant, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, member and past worthy matron of the Avon Lake Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. She was also an alumni of Leadership Lorain, Class of 1992.
Mrs. Ruth was a member of First Congregational Church of Avon Lake Avon Lake, Ohio.
She is survived by sister Martha Phillips of Peru, IN., Virginia Rust of Northeast PA., Barbara Rust of Wauwatosa, WI, brother Douglas Rust of Elyria, and 11 nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Jack W. Ruth, who died November 18, 2007.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11:30 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Burial was in Oaklawn cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.

John Simsik
John Simsik, 73 of Lorain died Saturday morning, February 16, 2008 at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Simsik was born in Elyria, OH on November 28, 1934, the son of the late John T. and Cecelia M. (nee Katonak) Simsik.
He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church Lorain, OH.
After 43 years service, he retired as a rigger from USS Kobe Steel in Lorain.
Mr. Simsik was a member of Ashland Erie Game Club, D & L Golf League, and the Steel Workers Golf League. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, poker, camping, traveling, and especially his granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife Sarah J. (nee Stipanovich) Simsik to whom he was married
on Feb. 9, 1957, his daughters Lucinda "Cindy" M. ( David) Patterson of Sheffield Lake, Wendy S. (Nandy) Ortiz of Cleveland, Kathy A (Steve) Martin of Lorain, his granddaughters Jennifer L. Krumheuer, Erin A Martin, Gina F. Stack, Emily R. Stack, Sava C. Ortiz, Melissa N. Ortiz, sister Carol West of Vermilion and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Sara J Stack in 2000 and a brother Karl Simsik.
