Sheffield Lake – Elmer John Nyfenger – 84 of Sheffield Lake, formerly of Shaker Heights, passed away, Saturday, July 14 at the Holy Family Home, Parma, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Nyfenger was born, June 8, 1917 in Cleveland and has lived in Sheffield Lake for the past 25 years. Mr. Nyfenger, work in the personnel office for Yellow Cab, Cleveland for 33 years, he was a 1937 graduate of Shaker Heights High School and served in the US Army, during WWII as an Anti Aircraft Gunner in Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening and going out for dinner. He is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Prete, whom he married
January 10, 1966. Other survivors include daughters Frances Nyfenger of Sheffield Lake, Jacqueline Albertson of Columbia Station and a son Kenneth of Parma, 4 grandchildren, brothers Edward of Vermilion, Ernest of Avon Lake and Robert of New London. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Frances (nee Kozorog) a brothers Harry and Fred and a sister Ruth Schuh. Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, from 2:00-4:00pm (only) , Tuesday, July 17. Sheffield Lake - Lee G. Ventura, 35 of Sheffield Lake, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away, Thursday, August 9, from injuries he sustained in a diving accident on July 23. Lee was born, May 29, 1966 in Monessen, PA. Lee was a Graduate of the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts, Pittsburgh, PA. He was employed as the Executive Chef with the Avon Oaks Country Club, Avon, for the past 2 years, coming from the Beckett Ridge Country Club, Westchester, OH. He was a member of the American Culinary Federation. Lee was an active person, enjoying the outdoors, boating, water skiing, jetskis and also enjoyed golf and snow skiing. He is survived by a sister, Lynn (Jerry) DeiCas of Charleroi, PA, a nephew Nicholas and friends, Jennifer Porter of Grafton, Lisa Berwald of Middleburg Heights and Bradley DeAngelis of North Ridgeville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Delores (nee Kruki) Ventura. Lorain – Bertha Gillenwaters (nee Leonartz) – 98 of Lorain, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away, Sunday, June 10 at the Ohio Extended Care Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gillenwaters was born, March 21, 1903 in New Jersey, had lived in Avon Lake, then moved to St. Petersburg, FL for 14 years and returned to Lorain to live with her daughter and son. She was a homemaker; enjoyed crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. Her husband of 57 years, the late John N., passed away in 1978. Mrs. Gillenwaters is survived by two daughters, Mildred H. Michalski of Lorain and Phyllis J. Bluffstone of Tampa, FL, a son Robert L. of Lorain, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by a son Perry J., parents Joseph and Mary (nee Polley) Leonartz, 3 sisters and a grandson. Avon Lake - Roland W. Wyvill – 76 of Avon Lake, passed away Wednesday, May 30 at St. John West Shore Hospital following an apparent sudden heart ailment. Mr. Wyvill was born, April 22, 1925 in Cleveland and has lived most of his life in the area. He worked for the credit department of the May Company for 20 years retiring in 1990. Mr. Wyvill served in the Marine Corp during WWII and was present during the battle of Iwo Jima. He was a graduate of Avon High School and received his bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology from the College at Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA. He was an avid reader and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ollie (nee Wolchko) a brother Clare of Avon Lake, grandchildren Jillian and Christopher of Canton Connecticut. Beside his parents, Clarence and Florence (nee Schwab) Mr. Wyvill is preceded in death by a son Jeffrey R. Private family services will be held. Bay Village – Joseph J. McKee, MD – 77 of Bay Village, formerly of Norwich, NY, passed away Sunday, May 20, at Lakewood Hospital, following cardiac complications. Dr. McKee was born, December 12, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA and has lived in Bay Village for the past 22 years. He worked as the Medical Director for Ameritech Cleveland retiring in 1991. He graduated with his MD for Hahnemann Medical College; Philadelphia then went on for further schooling at Pittsburgh University where he received a degree in Occupational and Preventative Medicine in 1959. Dr. McKee was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Marsville, PA. He was a member of the Tri State Occupational Medical Association, Western Reserve Medical Directors Association, the American Occupational and Environmental Association, the Ohio Medical Association and the American Medical Association. He is survived by his wife, whom he married

Sheffield Lake – Polly A. Bader – 77, of Sheffield Lake, passed away, Monday, May 7, at St. John West Shore Hospital following complications of liver failure. Mrs. Bader was born, April 5, 1924 in Youngstown, OH and had lived in Sheffield Lake for the past 35 years. She worked for the North Olmsted Public Schools as a Principal of Spruce Elementary School, retiring in 1982. She was a graduate of Kent State with a master degree in education. She was a member of the Sheffield Lake United Church of Christ, Phi Delta Kappa professional sorority, she was named teacher of the year in North Olmsted, Volunteer of the year in Sheffield Lake, she delivered meals on wheels, was a story teller at the public library and was a member of the Kent State Alumni Association. Mrs. Bader is survived by her husband of 57, William F. Other survivors include a son William J. (Mary Ann) of Sheffield and Rebecca A. Mangani of Howell, MI. Other survivors include twin sisters Shirley Mabry of Shirts TX and Charlotte Nations of San Antonio, TX, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, James P. and Iva J. (nee Kemper [same maiden name, no relation]) Kemper, a brother Roy H. Kemper and her stepmother Adelaide P. Kemper. Westlake – Marion Bieberle (nee Oswald) , 83 of Westlake, passed away Saturday, May 5 at Harborside Health Center, Westlake following a short illness. Mrs. Bieberle was born July 2, 1917 in Johnstown, Pa, moved to the Cleveland area as a child. She had live for a time in Olmsted Township before moving to Tempe, Arizona where she lived for a 5 years before moving to Westlake 3 years ago.
Mrs. Bieberle worked as a legal secretary for the Law Firm, Thompson, Hine and Florey from 1954 until her retirement in 1983. She was a graduate of John Hay High School Cleveland and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Avon. She enjoyed Reading and taking care of pants and animals.
Mrs. Bieberle married
for the first time at the age of 75. Her husband of 5 years, William J. Bieberle passed away in 1998. She is survived by Nieces Ernetta (Raymond) Weiss, Debbie (David) Dumek and Mildred (Eugene) Friend. Great nieces Sherry (Kevin) Gurkovich and Victoria (Scott) Kersevan and great great nieces Carrie Gurkovich and Christianna Kersevan and great great nephew Scott Kersevan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pearl (nee Geiser) and sisters, Florence Straubaugh and Thelma Oswald.

Avon Lake - Mildred A. Klein (nee Ivancic) - 75 of Avon Lake, passed away, Friday, May 4, at the North Ridge Health Center, North Ridgeville, following a short illness. Mrs. Klein was born, May 26, 1924 in Lorain, graduated from Lorain High School in 1942, lived for a time in Cleveland and Lakewood before settling Avon Lake, 40 years ago. Mrs. Klein was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Avon Lake; the church’s Isabella Group and the Ladies Guild, Circle 5. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and word games. Her husband the late Joseph passed away in 1994. Survivors include a son Kenneth K. Klein of Avon Lake, stepdaughter Jean Bennett of Elyria, stepson Ron Klein of Cleveland, 2 grandchildren, a brother Bernard Vance of Grand Island, NY and a sister Rosemary Ivancic of Bay Village. Besides her husband she is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agnes (nee Tomsic) Ivancic.
